Suma Beach is the main beach in Kobe. This roughly 1.5km stretch of sand is easily accessed from anywhere in Kansai as JR Suma station is located on the beach front.
The beach has nice walking paths and is generally peaceful and clean throughout the year.

Quaint seaside town between Osaka and Himeji I never got to visit... I wonder if Suma may have been the stop I saw...? Back in 1996 and 1997, I lived in Osaka, working at an English conversation school. Once a week, I would travel from Osaka to Himeji, on the JR Kobe Line. Along the route, I remember seeing a small quaint seaside town or village that I would pass along the way. Heading to Himeji, it was on the left, seaside side. I don’t remember what it was called or where exactly it was, but I remember there was a train stop there. I never got a chance to visit it, because I was always working and on my way to Himeji. Does anyone have any suggestions for what stop this small quaint seaside village/town could be? I’m back in Canada now and I would love to see if someone has made a RU-vid walking video of that place, so I could finally visit it virtually.

Thanks for your comment & sorry for the late reply. If I am not wrong I think you are talking about KOBE, SHIOYA, a quaint fishing town. I have a plan to visit there. Hope you can find some walking tour videos of Shioya fishing town.
