Amazing rendering by Sumesh ji. Was wonderstruck by the gumkis. I have one small request as a mridangist myself. The natyashastra and the renderation of nandikeshwara instruct the mridangist to play the divine the instrument wearing a Dhoti to respect the instrument, as it is god's swaroopa. Nandikeshwara asks the mridangist to smear the forehead with bhasma as a mark of respect for the mridanga. I'm sure madrasana and Sumesh Anna will take my comment into consideration. hats off to this guy , the gumki is much harder on mridangam as compared to tabla bcz the thoppu mootu is stepped and is harder to drag to create resonance . i know this bcz i myself am a mridangam and tabla player . really well done ...
