As always a great video. Love catching those big mouth white crappie. Not many of them in the Georgia lakes I fish. The heat has our fish super finicky. I'm fixing to try some 2lb P line and 1/32 hair jigs to see how they will react.

Hey Doc. Is it legal to keep a foul hooked crappie in MS?

My opinion is similar to the California fishing regulations, which many tournaments follow, which state that if a fish attempts to take the bait on its own, it is considered a legal catch. However, intentionally snagging or foul-hooking fish is not allowed. In bass tournaments, it is illegal to keep a foul hooked bedding fish. However, I have seen anglers keep a bass that was not on a bed that was foul hooked with a crank bait. In crappie tournaments, I do not think it is legal to keep foul hooked crappie for the weigh-in. On a private lake, anything goes, unless the rules of the lake prevent it. Great question!! TIGHT LINES!!
