Hello I know you mentioned your rod, but was wondering what type of rod would you suggest? medium-light, medium, medium heavy?...... I love your videos they are awesome!! keep up the amazing work thanks in advance.
When it comes to rod type it really is personal preference. Some like Cpt Cody will only fish with heavy rods while guys like Mark, MDLR Fishing really like ultra light rods. I've tried both, heavy rods to me offer less movement & finesse while ultra light diminish my hook set & I loss at more fish. The heavier the rod the stiffer which works great for deep hook sets like you need for flounder or sheepshead. Specs really don't need a deep hook set, so a lighter rod or fast action tip can be used for them. For reds I like a medium to medium heavy, they are brutes & can really fight. But if I was only to buy 1 rod, universal I would but a medium or medium fast.
Great video. Thanks ;) If fishing there they need to know to be careful of the drop off ESPECIALLY the guys wearing waders(wear a life jacket with them)... Was it last year or the year before when the guy drowned there?
Absolutely you need to very careful fishing out there. Several years ago I had a friend drown out there. You always have to be aware & conscious anytime you're out on the water, especially wade fishing
That thing is like 8 years old, I've broken it 4 times and duct taped it back together LOL. But check out Fish and Tackle Unlimited, last I checked they carry them.
For the shoes/boots, I think differently. I think that's where the money should go. They should be comfortable since you'll be standing in them for a while and too many oysters and objects that will cut through a pair of sneakers.
Yes, that's a very good point. But I really don't walk on a lot of oysters. I primarily wade the surf or I'll get out of my kayak & wade an area or friends boat.
Good stuff. Its always good to get idea from others and their setups. Dollars flats and dollar point...haven't waded it in years. Is there still access to it and a good bottom?
Great ideas. I'm looking for a good sandy bottom "walk in" spot off CR 257 or Bluewater Hwy. between Surfside to San Luis Pass. Somewhere kinda safe to Park also. I know chases of break-in's are always there but I don't wanna get towed. I haven't been out wading besides the Surf & would love to hit X-Mas Bay if anyone knows let me know please? Tight lines 🤟 I do have a ZR2 Blazer 4x4 also for those muddy spots
