Oulu is the oldest city in Northern Finland, founded in 1605. It is the fifth most populous city in the country, located in the northeastern part of the Gulf of Bothnia, and the administrative center of the Oulu province. The city is situated in the northwest of the country, at the mouth of the Oulujoki River, which flows into the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea.
