Takes me back 42 years. I HAD to fly fish and made my own fly rig out of a 1940s bait caster with waxed down braided line to float and cast (necessity mothering invention as it does). I got pretty good at catching pan fish. So my pop heard the Ausable was the fly fishing place, and drove us up there to spend a night in the public campground. Rained like crazy, and ended up catching only chubs/dace or whatever those shiner are. Priceless.
Hey Dan ! I was so happy to see you fishing on the surface. I love to watch the showy splash of those trout as they attack their "dinner" on the top of the water. As usual, you caught some nice trout. It's not easy catching fish during the day in August. Thanks for the video.
Hey Dan! Great action there, and on the big terrestrials! Quality trout. You did a good job reading that water 👍🏻. I fish the Ausable one time, only caught some wild brookies, very tannic stained water, I might’ve been above the stocked sections. Thanks for sharing.

You did a heck of a job getting the action you got. Wasn’t easy. Water is way too thin. Glad it was pretty chilly though. Hopefully they will make it through this summers inferno. Nice browns my friend! And of course in my favorite body of water.....almost fished it yesterday! Opted to venture over to VT and fished one of the mountain brook trout streams. Only managed a few small ones, probably should of went north instead! As always great video!
@@DownstreamDownrange hit the Battenkill (NY side) tonight. Water was 64 degrees. Nice hatch and risers everywhere. Got there a little after 7pm so I only had about 20 minutes of good light left when I actually got on the water. Brought 4 browns to the net. Nothing real big, all stockies around 10 inches. Fun evening though!
