Hi Stuart, another grand day out and thanks for sharing. I always enjoy your days out and appreciate you taking us through your approach, I learn such a lot, and I find it reassuring that I'm not the only one that has the occasional "fail" with the weather. Keep up the good work !

You are one of the few landscape photographers that I always watch because of the depth of discussion about how you make the images. In reference to the comment you drew attention to regarding foreground, I think it depends on what you see as the main subject. In the one referred to in your discussion and also the one at 8:16 in this video, I think they are both studies of rock formations with a background that gives them context, so not foreground heavy at all. You could frame the scene differently to make it a study of Skiddaw & Derwent water with some rocks to set that in context but it would be a different approach. Thanks for this vlog and I look forward to more news on the book. PS Your Newsletter continues to inspire me when it arrives in ithe inbox, superb content and all for free.

Another great video! It looks a fabulous area to explore with a plentiful bounty of interesting subject matter. Really like the images you captured and I'm intrigued to see how these can be improved upon in a fortnight's time.

Excellent video with great photos, really liked the last b&w image even though I prefer colour - thought the colour image was spot on too. Looking forward to hearing more about your forthcoming book.

Marvellous video, Stuart. This is one the areas around Derwentwater which I would love to explore and your vid shows this part beautifully. Really enjoy the images you produced. And thank you for your newsletter too which I found so interesting and very moving actually. See you soon hopefully later in the year. Take care 🙂

Hi Stewart, recently discovered your channel and have been working through some of your excellent videos, really like your style and informative, no nonsense delivery. I really love your moody stuff and especially the black and white images. Will be in the lakes in just over a week and I am looking forward to getting wet and visiting your gallery.

As always, a insightful and entertaining vlog Stuart. I did some hill walking for the first time in a good while last week and my legs are still complaining. The sudden return of the heat and humidity didn't help either. Images were pants but it was good to get out again. Thanks for sharing.

Great video Stuart but, sorry, nothing constructive to say about the images other than - Nice! Had a flying visit yesterday for a boat party on Windermere and as I also had passengers, no chance of any landscape photography. Whilst others were enjoying themselves my mind and eyes was on the great light and colour in the skies over the Pikes. Arrrrgh! Thanks for the the upload.

What a lovely day to be out. Know what you mean about some foreground shots, a bit over bearing and can diminish the subject. Some people like it others don't. Take what you want that pleases you.

Another great video Stuart and some great drone footage too helps put the viewer in the location. How you managed to cart your z7 & a couple of lenses, a video camera and presumably a second tripod plus a drone up the falls is beyond me, but your considerably younger and fitter than me. Great to catch up with you in your gallery last week and thanks for the tips on locations around Buttermere. I think I managed to get a half decent shot from the Waterfalls on Comb Beck, well worth the excursion, thanks. 😊

I've only just realised the self timer on the Nikon takes the entire bracket sequence. Even when set to take 1 shot in normal mode. Duh! Anyways, I'm looking forward to the book. Great way to support your video efforts 👌 😊

Great video Stuart, I really enjoy the large vistas. You make it look so easy. I visit the Lake District once a year in October and it would be great to try and take some images from the same location. So can I be cheeky and ask where to park and how to get to the summit and how long does it take to get there. Keep up the great vlogs and looking forward to seeing the next one.

Hi Andy park at Watendlath and walk up to grange fell from there - I did a large loop doing some exploring though you can walk directly to this spot in about 30mins

I think it was me, but I hope it didn't come across as blunt. I did think the image was foreground heavy for me. I think going longer on the focal length helps to make the background mountains stand out. With this image, though, the rocks are off to left and don't dominate the image as much as they did in the last video. I like this one (the first shot) a lot more, but it's just my opinion :) hey I'm no expert. I'm not the one with a gallery haha You know more than I do.
@StuartMcGlennon
@StuartMcGlennon Год назад
Haha no not at all what I forgot to film here was that I actually would have liked to have taken a few steps back in that shot from Dale head so I had more space but there was a 20ft drop 🤣 so you definitely had a point, I still like the image though in an ideal world yes a bit more space would have been helpful. A longer focal length wasn’t really an option at that stage as there was no light hitting that part of the scene that would have matched a telephoto shot, if it had been I certainly would have taken one.

Love the shot at 8.16 mins. I occasionally feel I would have framed some of your shots differently but I keep my thoughts to myself as photography is highly subjective. Having said that, I love the style of your work. Additionally, I would hate to be thought of as a dick head. 😁
@StuartMcGlennon
@StuartMcGlennon Год назад
Hi Alan, I think we all feel we would frame everyones images that we see differently from time to time that's completely normal - as I've always said I'm more than happy for people to comment should common sense and courtesy be applied.
@garybeat6637
@garybeat6637 Год назад
Given the environment you were shooting in, Stuart, what did the person commenting want you to fill the frame with? Dancing fairies?
@StuartMcGlennon
@StuartMcGlennon Год назад
As I say people are entitled to an opinion and the person wasn’t rude so I’ve no issue with that, what I probably should have made a bit clearer in the video was that I couldn’t actually move any further back from where I shot from so I was quite limited.
