Wife and kids go to the mother-in-law’s for the night, cook myself a steak, crack a beer, turn on RU-vid and Profty’s posted a video! Sunday night winning!
G'day mate, I'm new to deer. I live in vic, near a state forest. My kids and Mrs have never seen a wild deer before. Using your vids, advice on where and when they are I took the Mrs and the kids just a 15min drive away, and we actually called in a sambar stag. Mrs saw him first, was incredible experience. Got to about 20m away before she spoke and he bolted. Thank you so much mate, was an experience that the kids, the Mrs and I will never forget. So appreciative of all your vids and advice.
Always learn something from you Profty! You do such a wonderful job giving a positive voice to the entire hunting community. We are so fortunate that you do what you do. Thanks mate
Great chat Alex and Dylan. It’s always nice to hear people share knowledge rather than this whole secret squirrel thing that happens. If we don’t get people excited and adding them to our hunting numbers. We may just lose our right to hunt. Like what’s happening in SA. It would be good if we can get some noise happening about that. It’s a real concern.
Weather patterns are migrating while our calendars remain a fixed point in time. Let what you see happening be your guide, remain hopeful that permits keep track with changing conditions. Keeping natural, God bless.
What a great Vid Alex very informative and it got me thinking about the bucks I see at the farm I work at one particular buck I have seen on a number of occasions sometimes on his own but sometimes with 3 other bucks they spend their post rut and building into the rut around the farm and I know were they go for their fun times with the girls but I saw him just 4 weeks ago with no antler growth at all he was on his own and in prime condition but not a trace of horn I thought that looks strange and I have seen no rubs anywhere on the farm and no sign in that last month which I find a little strange ,maybe they are running a little late this year but we have had good rains and we have tonnes of feed around and more Roos than I have ever seen .I may have to keep my eyes peeled.
I have very very limited hunting deer but as someone who lives surrounded by them i can tell you they make sounds all year. Yes bucks are more vocal at certain times of the year but they dont just disappear with the warmer weather
That chat was great. 100% agree with everything you guys were talking about. Me personally im off to NZ for an Elk in April can’t wait. Happy hunting everyone
Nice to see a new vid out , I don’t know if I’ve missed a few but it seems it been a while since you put one up , but I knew coming into rut you would get some vids done
Great video. Very interesting. Love hearing good conversations about our deer and what they get up too. Dylan’s got some awesome videos out there. Really like his content. He has some great footage. Thanks for another video mate! Good luck out there
Great video Alex Good interview with Dylan And right at the end was the most important bit of information for hunters Keep taking more females before the government departments start doing it for us
I think that yearling does that were born early can have a chance to come in to estrous late, as in after the older does (about a month). These yearling does and the does that were missed can bring on that “second rut”.
Been vocal up my place near Corryong for the last week. Bloody things stirring up my dogs of an evening. Love hearing them tho. Getting out with the bow but looking forward to sorting my gun licence real soon . Might take the actual 'hunt' away as could just shoot one from my fence line.
I wouldn’t take any of my thoughts as gospel. Though I recon your onto something. Not so much for mature does but yearling hoofed mammal females won’t cycle until a body weight is reached. A poor season will delay this. On younger and more hunted herds this may have a big impact.
Nice video mate, that last point use them or lose them, absolutely correct. This needs to be stressed to the hunting community hard especially with governments plan over the next 5 years to essentially wipe out deer all along the east coast. We need to stand up against anti hunting government
regards to photo period just like plants they change during the light cycle and with Deer 🦌 it’s the same You’ll hear more roaring early morning late afternoon. just come out of their beds, just like humans
