Use a skinny circular brush to curl your hair when blow drying it. Trust me I have straight hair too and Seasalt spray helps too

"Undercut with fringe" When asking your barber what haircut you want, show them the front, side, and back view on google image or something. Showing my barbers pictures of all 3 sides improved my cuts drastically. Describing what you want isn't as clear as pictures. Edit - In the video, his hair looks a few weeks old @6:55, his sideburns are grown and his neckline isn't sharp, so if you want fuller hair on the side, ask the barber to a longer blade guard and show him a picture of what you want.

Well if you want short sides and a fade I’d say a bald mid fade, long on top, sides blended with the top so it won’t be disconnected.
