Hey Graham, thanks for the comment. I use a Line6 Helix, it’s great for getting the tones you want, but there’s an added benefit: as part of the patch you can add something that raises or lowers the tuning of your guitar. It’s great for live situations. I also use a Line6 Variax guitar in special circumstances. At the Solstice 19 gig, we played Fleetwood Mac’s Chains which needs an acoustic guitar tuned to drop-D. You can get multiple guitar tunings with the Variax.

@@StMansour Many thanks for the Steve. I wondered if you used a Helix when I spotted the Line 6 amps - and now that I look again I spotted the Helix at your feet. I also use a Helix (LT) - best bit of kit I ever bought. So are you using the Poly Capo block? I'm sort of annoyed with myself - I'm finding it harder than it should be (or I expected) to nail the tone as well as I'd like - probably me! I also do similar (but not nearly as good) videos on RU-vid - have a wee look if you like? You're also a very good singer - I'm the opposite but I had a go for the first time on my last video (CCR's "Who'll Stop The Rain"). Your "Eight Days a Week" video is fabulous. Thanks again

@@grahamlyell6774 Ahh... so many things. First, Yes, I am using a Poly Capo block in the patch. I've found Line6's implementation to be reasonably good - some artifacts are detectable, but they're musical enough so that they sound alright; also some delay, but it's not enough to even worry about. When I play live these days, I don't lug an amp with me... I just take the stereo XLRs from the Helix and run them into the PA system :-) I hate hauling amps :-) That line6 amp in the video belonged to some other band. While the Helix (meaning the whole family... Helix LT, and even the Helix plugin that I use as a virtual amp on recordings) is a great tool, it's only as good as the plugins and models. You may want to check out the OwnHammer Impulse Response Libraries. One of the first things I do when I hear a patch that is close, but not quite right -- maybe it sounds a little thin or weak, I replace the amp cabinets with an Impulse Response and spin through the OwnHammer models until I find one that sounds good. Not a guarantee to fix the problems you're having, but I've found this to be a good start on most of the issues I've seen. I checked out a couple of your vids. I thought your vocals on Who'll Stop The Rain were more than respectable for a first try. Did you do the vocals on Overkill?? They were quite good!

@@StMansour Thanks again Steve - I have quite a few Ownhammer IRs so I'll try that. Im working on a video for Summer of 69 - I'd like to "sing" it if I can get something that sound even OK-ish. My drummer pal has done a drum track already -I'm doing the rest. I did backing vocals in the last band I was with and I don't really have any aspiration to sing lead but I'd just like to do as good a job as I can. So although that's my first singing video it took a lot of practice and re-takes until it was OK-sh enough. I've got another done more or less - (the old Stray Cats song - Stray Cat Strut) that I sang - and I'll post it as soon as the drummer records his part. The Overkill vocals were from a track I bought- although I might go back and have a go at it at some point! Thanks again for the pointers - I think I'll give the Variax a more serious consideration too - I'd never really looked into them.

Thanks! Yea, an astute observation! I play through a Line 6 Helix, it has this feature that allows you change the key of an instrument without retuning it. So even though the Les Paul strings were tuned normally, what comes out of the Helix using that particular patch was down a whole step. That was a big help since my voice isn't quite as high as Bryan Adams.😃

@@fredstriker2042 Thanks Fred, the audio you heard was what went into our mixer. The speakers used at that event didn't sound as nice... at least that's what many people have told me.
