**Origami Tote Details Medium Size:
1/2 yard of fashion/outer fabric
1/2 yard of lining fabric
**Supplies:
*Sewing Machine
Preferred thread (All purpose/Polyester or heavy-duty for heavyweight fabrics)
Iron
Fabric Shears/Scissor
18" Ruler
Measuring tape
Fabric Pins
Fabric markers/Marking chalk
Something semi-sharp to turn out corners such as a point turner, knitting needle, or pen
Light to medium weight interfacing for lightweight fabrics
(NOTE: No interfacing used in the video. Denim and lining together are heavy materials.
** Instructions
Bag panel Outer/Lining
Choose lining or Outer fabric first or stack them evenly on together still folded)
From fabric fold Measure across 181/2" and mark.
Measure down 13" and mark (Making sure the top edge of the fabric is cut straight across first)
Square your lines with a ruler and chalk across and down to intersect.
Cut on marked lines and place panel of top of other panel and cut (unless already stacked)
Bag Strap (*Note May want to add a few extra inches necessary for a longer bag length but enough to adjust later)
Mark and cut
3" wide
25" long (Adjust to preferred length)
or on fold 121/2 long (shown in video)
Bag panel
With both outer and lining fabrics open, place the right sides or pretty sides facing together
Pin at the four sides
Sew 1/2" from the edge all the way around, leaving a small 4" opening to turn inside out.
*Don't forget to backstitch before in the beginning and towards the end.
(This step can be skipped) Trim off some excess about 1/4 from edge to keep from being too bulky.
More importantly, carefully clip the four edges to release the amount of bulk without clipping sewn thread.
Turn panel inside out. Making sure your four edges are pushed our (Sharp) Use a point turner, knitting needle, pen, something semi-sharp.
Press with a steam iron
Edge/Topstitch bag panel close to the edge all the way around. Making sure the 4" open seam is inside and sewn over.
With Outer fabric side of the bag panel facing upwards, you should have a panel that measures 36" by 12". So the width of the panel is 3 times the length.
Take the bottom corner on the left side up where it meets the top edge forming a triangle.
Take the top corner on the right side down meeting the edge forming a triangle.
Fold line mark or imagine a diagonal line that starts at the bottom left and top right. Fold the right side up to meet close up the opening.
The bag is starting to take shape
Pin the diagonal seams together on both sides of the bag (Be very careful that you don't catch the other side of the bag with pins by checking inside.
Sew both sides close to the edge.
Bag Strap
Press the ends of strap 1/2 inside
Press the width of the strap in half
Open the pressed strap, fold in and press 1/2 on both sides of the side. Closing the raw edge, press pin and sew close to the edge.
Sew the straps to the top corners on your bag. Secure the strap with a box or triangle shape. Possibly sewing over a few good times to make sure it is secure.
That's all there is to it!!
Give it a try! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed sharing it.

How much does it cost to make a bag like this?

Hi, so it really just depends on the cost of the fabric per yard. But you only need half a yard of both outer and lining fabric to make complete bag with strap. Maybe $15 or even less. Also add in your thread. Note, this particular Origami/Triangle Tote is on the smaller side but still has a lot of room. Adjust strap to your preferred length. Hope you give it a try!! Thanks for the interest and question!!
