Went out to the Oregon Coast to fish the river for some summer steelhead fishing. I didn't get to fish long because I got a flat tire while passing through Portland. Still made it happen with the short amount of time I had and ended up with 3 fish. Even an unexpected steelhead was caught on my ultralight setup! Coho fishing videos are in the works and I should be out on the coast sometime next week chasing those. Comment below what you would like to see in the next videos. Thanks for watching!

Love this video!!! Reminds me so much of my first summer back in 1975 . That line, the reel with the drag sound! I would love it someone would bring back that sound with the new reels , wouldn’t that be cool! That reel sounds like it’s ready to come apart! Ha !! You must take me fishing, before I die anyway, ha!

Use a net! Less fighting time on the fish and less likely a chance to have fish beat themselves up on the rocks/shore.

@@Mitchsflybench what net do you recommend? Would imagine it would be difficult to net the fish by myself with a 13ft rod in a tight spot.

@@Canons_Catch yeah that would be challenging with a 13 foot rod by yourself

@@alexanderhoward6654 I don’t always use my 13ft centerpin but I should look into getting a net. I’ve lost a lot of fish at the bank with light leader.

10:32 why are you dragging this fish along the rocks trying to boat flip it man get in the water check it out and release the fish that whole fight not the best let out some drag brother.
@Canons_Catch
@Canons_Catch 16 дней назад
@@mikehawk3090 At that point in the video I’m not purposely dragging the fish into the rocks nor can I control when the fish wanted to go crazy and jump and spin. Was in a tight spot and I can’t boat flip a fish that big on a ultralight the rod would snap. I’ll be more conscious about it next time. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, try not to boat flip get a rubber net and get in the water with the fish is what I was saying I run ultralight too for steelies and I get in the water where they never hit the rocks on netting nor do they get removed from the water in general

Nice job. Just curious, why aren’t you keeping the hatchery fish?
@Canons_Catch

I don’t eat any fish so I never keep them. With steelhead I like to think maybe next year I can catch them again when they’re a little bigger. I might keep 1 fish a year. Thanks for watching!
