I was also surprised to see Ware's new book come out in summer with such a snowy theme. I've only read 2 Catriona ward novels, and those were also enough for her to become my Queen! I've heard great things about into the drowning deep. I also hope to get to that one soooon. Great list!
My goal is to own and read his entire collection! He was a true horror icon. I looked Cold Moon up and now I want to squeeze that in too! 😩 It actually might be a better fit Summer. I can move The Amulet to Fall lol The summary sounds so sinister.
So good! She has a way of making me so disturbed without being overly gory and grotesque. It’s just dark characters and situations. Have you read her newest release? It is a mind bender.
OMG where to start? first, that top looks divine on you! Second, The Amulet and Into The Drowning Deep are two of my top top ever book that I love so much, I want you to love them soooo bad haha I'll be reading The Navajo Nightmare in June, hopefully it's good! Can't wait to exchange thoughts with you!
Thank you! ☺️ That’s so good to hear!! I seriously can’t see those two books being anything but amazing to me. I will unsubscribe to myself if I don’t like them. LOL
"I'm in dire need for vampires in my life" is such an iconic quote 😂. Love your videos, and I am also a seasonal reader like you so I thought I'd let you know that Ketchum's "Off Season" is set during fall, of course your choice how much that matters to you. I think my must 3 for this summer are "Monstrilio" by Gerardo Sámáno Córdova, "Chlorine" by Jade Song and "Rovers" by Richard Lange. This reminds me though that I also really want to finally get to "Black Tide"
Both Ruth Ware and Riley Sager are super weird authors for me. Like...I know I will absolutely read every single thing they write, but every single story invariably disappoints me. But I keep coming back for more! I think I like the experience of reading their books more than the aftermath of having read them, if that makes any sense :P From your list, I've only read Looking Glass Sound, which was a fever dream of a story and nothing was as it seemed, and The Elementals, which I read in 2011 and that was the last time I remember staying up til 4am to finish a book because I was so freaking invested...!
I cannot wait to read Looking Glass Sound 😱 That sounds crazy. And yessss The Elementals was so atmospheric and good! I know exactly what you mean about Ware and Sager. That’s how I am with Sager!! 😂 I cannot stop reading him even though I don’t like or can’t relate/understand the majority of his characters. And he keeps doing it! Lol but his twists are so fun to me and his stories too. I learned my lesson and I just check them out at my library now.
Summer has a lot of great reads in store for us! I haven’t read any of Riley sagers stuff and I think his recent release is the only one with a premise I am intrigued by. (I heard it was inspired by the Lizzie Borden murder case.)
DONICA where did you buy the uk edition of looking glass sound?!?!? I went on book depository SPECIFICALLY to support my queen catriona ward and get my hands on a copy early only to find out book depository has apparently gone out of business?!
