She should've called this "Me and Mr. Holmes" since London on da Track's last name is Holmes and we've all seen the fuckery that has been their relationship
Now this the type of music I LOVE!!! I’ve always been such a huge Amy Winehouse snob & to hear Summer bring this into this day & Age, all I can do is throw my hands up & appreciate this!

@@His_Glory yes. Basically a song about her boyfriend making her miss a Slick Rick concert, so this was a warning that come Brixton no one was stopping her from going to the Nas concert. Her boyfriend was a cheater anyway. Not even worth putting on the guest list lol
Omggg Summer made me go back to Listening to Amy when I saw her post her Glastonbury performance one time on insta....I can’t believe she did a cover! This is also my fave Amy song...I’m so happy I found this
Nobody stands in between me and my man It's me and Mr. Jones (me and Mr. Jones) What kind of fuckery is this? You made me miss the Slick Rick gig (oh, Slick Rick) And thought I didn't love you when I did (when I did) Can't believe you played me out like that (ah) No, you ain't worth guest list Plus one of all them girls you kiss (all them girls) You can't keep lying to yourself like this (to yourself) Can't believe you played yourself (out) like this Ruler's one thing, but come Brixton Nobody stands in between me and my man 'Cause it's me and Mr. Jones (me and Mr. Jones)
For anyone saying that Amy didn’t write Me & Mr Jones she wrote every track for her album, something most artists don’t do today, and from experience as Back To Black is basically biographical. She took inspiration and a play on “Me and Mrs Jones” by Billy Joel, but that’s about it as both songs are completely different lirically and sound wise, complete respect to Billy Joel for his original, but put some respect on Amy too. She never stole any music, she loved doing covers, and sampling songs. For examples she sampled “Made you look” by Nas for one of her singles “In My Bed” from her debut album Frank, and she sampled “Ain’t No Mountain High” for one of her Back To Black singles “Tears Dry On Their Own” written by her, which on that song it was actually her producer Mark Ronson which suggested she should go with the sample, as she originally had a version of the track done but they decided to go with the final sampled track on the album. And specifically there’s no denying she had incredible black influences, like Sarah Vaughan which she mentions in her Frank track “October Song” as “She’s reborn like Sarah Vaughan” (talking about her beautiful singing voice) and Ella Fitzgerald which she even did a cover of one of her songs “Someone to watch over Me”, among them she also loved Dinah Washington, Aretha Franklin, and in her early years listened to a lot of Hip Hop and Rap, like Lauryn Hill among others. So no she didn’t steal any music, and she never denied her influences and made herself something she wasn’t. Not like these artists now just trying to be black because it’s popular without giving any credit where credit is due. Hope this explanation gives some proper insight, peace and love y’all. ❤️
