I'm out early in the morning trying to beat the heat and put a few fish in the boat by targeting wingdam fish. Check out some of the techniques I use when fishing wingdams in the summertime.

Thanks for the awesome video my friend. I watched it while fishing wingdams in Pool 10. I anchored on the wing dam and used cut bait for Catfish. Nothing for me. Will try what you did tomorrow. Thanks

Thank you! Keep trying different dams. You’ll find em! You might also consider anchoring upstream of some large sunken trees and try some cut bait and live bait.

Very chipper pal , early bird gets the worm 😆 I see that Rap dt10 never slung that much I've used its before as a lake troll bait for large mouth at various speeds time day temp and color you know what it is !! No jerks ? What bout spinners no go in the wally world , yeah , no ?

No jerks. I pretty use cranks and jigs exclusively for walleye, no spinners.

Is this north of Trempelau? I haven’t fished the river up there yet but I am very interested in it. I’ve only really fished wingdam south of dresbach and pettibone. Love the videos, they really inspire me to keep trying and catching fish 😄

That slow motion cast into the sunrise was epic editing!!! Great video and advice. That bridge looked scary low especially at that speed! Will a bigger boat with a windshield even fit under it??
@AnglerX
@AnglerX 3 года назад
Thank you! 😂 been under that bridge many times so I know I’m good but a taller boat may have an issue.

I felt your pain not seeing the fish that broke off... You mentioned that fish being a possible sheephead yet I can't remember seeing one in your vids. Do you edit them buggers out sir? You know its just not a normal day out on that river without catching at least one!!! Another great video Lance. even if doesn't have a drum. 😉
@AnglerX
@AnglerX 3 года назад
Thanks Chad! I do edit out fish to keep the videos under a certain time length but I will leave sheephead in the video if it’s a decent one. Check out this video. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-idydmEWjQ6I.html

How do you deal with the current? I'm in Iowa lock & dam 17. Lots of current.
@AnglerX
@AnglerX 2 года назад
I try to find wingdams with the right amount current to fish. If the flow is too much then I don't fish the wingdam. If there is a series of wingdams the ones that are furthest downstream will have the least amount of flow.
@timseverson5578

Great video!! Doesn't look like you give the Paddle Tails a lot of Action when on the bottom. Are you basically dragging them??
@AnglerX
@AnglerX 2 года назад
Thanks! Just letting the lift and fall combined with the current to impart action on the tail. It keeps the bait in the strike zone longer and hesitant fish will tend to bite. Some days they are more aggressive and a heavier jig can be used and a faster retrieve.

Looks like your pretty much an artificials guy but when it’s summer my go to on wing damns is a jig with a half crawler pretty simple but effective
@AnglerX

Jig with a piece of crawler is deadly

Excellent video I just started following your channel and wow thanks for all the good info. Im going to start fishing the Mississippi this summer. Do the lake master chips accurately depict most of the wing dams as far as location goes?
@AnglerX
@AnglerX 2 года назад
Thanks for the support! I think the chips are pretty good at depicting the windams but I wouldn't say that they are 100%. They are definitely going to give a good idea of where the wingdams are but one should be careful not to rely on them fully.

In an area of the river with lots of wingdams like wabahsa, what is the best way to narrow down which dam you should fish?
@AnglerX
@AnglerX 3 года назад
Right now with the river being low dams with better flow have been good. These are generally the first wingdams in a series of wingdams. As you you go downstream to each consecutive dam the flow becomes less. Assuming the dams are relatively close to each other. The other thing to look for is wingdams with something unique about them. Maybe they have a bend or are a combination of two dams that meet together at some point. Maybe there is a large tree. Some wingdams will get more filled in with sand and become less attractive to fish. That’s hard to tell without fishing them. Generally speaking look for dams that are 7-15 feet deep immediately upstream of the dam and have a noticeable flow to them. Keep an eye out for schools of bait. You see bait you’re in the right spot. Good luck!

Are the smallies on the upstream side, on top, or below the wing dams now?
@AnglerX
@AnglerX 3 года назад
The smallmouth have been hanging close to the very top of the wingdams. They do tend to venture away from the dam to chase schools of baitfish. It will be obvious when they start blowing up on bait. Cast at the active fish immediately upon seeing them otherwise focus on the dam itself.
