I agree with you. I'd give it a 6.5 too. I think it's the worst show of the year so far which isn't saying much because it was still a decent show but nothing special. The highlight of the show imo was Iyo Sky's cash-in.
I just realize something with Belair and Summerslam PPV's: 2021: Lost the title in 26 seconds to Becky Lynch 2022: Beat Becky, but moment ruined by Bayley, Iyo and Dakota 2023: Won the title, but got cashed in on by Iyo I don't think summerslam is Bianca's favorite PPV at this point 😂
Anyone blaming the crowd for not being loud enough wasn't paying close enough attention. I was there. We showed up ready to party. We delivered for Logan/Ric, we blew up for Cody/Brock. We blew the roof off for LA Knight. That MMA Rules match absolutely killed the vibe. Imagine being at a party, its going crazy, but then someone turns off the music and turns on all the lights for 20 minutes. It's so damn tough to get back to what it was before. We did our best. WWE did not.
I can agree my friend is a major wrestling fan we dipped for food during that fight. After that it felt slow Gunter was slow at the start, rollins was slow at the start but the finish boy was that good the triple threat was slow to start but it slowly picked up, the main event was fun mostly because it was our first PPV and he’s a big Roman fan me just getting in I liked jay and wanted him to win. Edit. But yeah we were loud during points but it died hard after the mma rules fight
Missed classic probably is the best term I’ve heard. I was excited going in but the show just didn’t hit like I thought it would. Not bad but not all that spectacular. 6.5/10
I think it would’ve been pretty good for a B show, but for Summerslam it just felt very normal and bland and the special aura wasn’t there. The crowd not being fully into certain matches I think played into that.
6.5 is still too high tbh. The only highlights of the entire show was Logan and Ricochet and Finn and Seth. And Brock Vs Cody that was good too. Everything else was either horrible or very mid. IC match was mid. Tribal Combat sucked. And the mma fight sucked. The rest of mid. Charlotte needs to stop doing double moves cause she was AWFUL that night.
10:17 honestly I agree with you, the match went far too long and it took like 5 minutes just to get into the weapon slots. I feel like 90% of the match could've been executed in 20 - 25 minutes. It honestly lacked in comparison to their 2020 matches which took place without a live crowd.
Tonight will be the most important SmackDown of the year, and the most important stage of the Bloodline story up until this point. There’s so many ways they can take this but also so many ways they can screw this up. They can play the angle of Jey chasing the Tribal Chief role instead of sitting by his brothers side in the hospital or something to that degree, making Jimmy disappointed. I’m just worried because Paul Heyman wasn’t surprised but Roman was. So maybe Jimmy’s actually just jealous which worries me. No matter what, I think Jey’s actions of chasing a flawed goal have to be the catalyst for Jimmy’s betrayal, not jealousy.
i was there live and i 100% agree with pretty much everything you said ronda v shayna honestly killed the crowd. and then everything else after that was gradually bringing it back but it just wasnt the same feel for the rest of the night
I agree with everything you're saying, especially the Tribal Combat; it was a whole lotta hype for nothing. Why didn't they make Tribal Combat more special? Like change how the ring looks and be more creative.
Still debatable. It was mid. There was a few good moments on the show but yeah, after Rhonda and Shayna went on yeah it ruined the whole vibe of the show. Seth and Finn brought the crowd back, just for it to be ruined again after the Triple Threat, EXCEPT for Iyo winning the title, the crowd got hype for that. Then tribal combat happened and crowd was dead again. Roman becoming stale. Gotta get that title off him and soon.
I was in attendance and for the womens title match the crowd was as invested as they could. we were all tired lol. but that crowd was definitely into it. think this and brock vs cody were the highest points of the show.
You're right, WWE have now reached a point where they are milking this story to the point of no return with no end in sight, and Roman reaching 1000+ days booked them into a corner. They definitely do need to tread carefully cuz right now this story is close to jumping the shark, and Triple H, while he's not a perfect booker, is really starting to tread on thin ice for me.
@@kdubbss0583 yeah man, everybody was trying to tell me after mania about how Roman needed the belt when they should have clearly put it on Cody, but the fact that this is his only PLE defense since then and we are EIGHT months away from the next mania, waiting that long to care about the MAIN belt Again is going to bite them in their asses.

wwe needs to execute this final 6 months to a year of the bloodline well. i really hope people remember in like 5 years the bloodline being one of the best things in wrestling history and not something that was good for a few years but kinda lost people towards the end. that would be ashame

I had a ticket to attend Summerslam unfortunately with personal reasons I wasn’t able to go and felt kinda down about not being able to go. Once I watched it at home I instantly got over it and glad I didn’t go because it was a very underwhelming show. Also, ever since Wrestlemania I haven’t been invested as much into Roman’s matches. He’s not gonna lose the belt plus Solo interferes every match, so I just tune out lol
SummerSlam 2023 had so much potential, but the way it delivered, I can confidently say, this is the weakest HHH PPV so far. While the highlights were strong, such as Logan Paul vs Ricochet, Cody Rhodes winning, LA Knight winning with a MASSIVE ovation, YEEEAAAHHH😎!!!!!, the IC Championship match was fun, Seth Vs Finn was ok, minus the ending and winner, and of course, Iyo Sky becoming the new Women’s Champion, was well deserved😁, but everything else tho, it was so underwhelming and sometimes even boring. That main event ending was so backwards, it made me feel like my intelligence was insulted. Combine all of that, with how much this show dragged, 4+ hours, it truly was a conflicting time. Not the worst show ever, but definitely my least favorite HHH PPV for now😕. Great video, as always, my dude, and I hope you have a great weekend🙂👍.
At least one of Finn or Jey should have won. I really thought this was the year that WWE started treating SummerSlam like the second biggest PLE, but they still won't conclude these big stories until mania, which to some extent makes sense, but also creates so much disappointment. The RAW after left me even more confused about the direction of Finn Balor. He deserves that belt more than anyone in the industry.

Two things from this show that i do not understand peoples opinion on. First, the Brock and Cody match was low key boring. It was just a squash then what should have been a DQ to a reverse squash. The "cody keeps coming thing" is played out every match. Even the crowed isnt as in to it as much. Second, the final match just ruined the bloodline story for me. Now we know Roman is injured and probably wont wrestle for 60 days. This match literally made everyone realize this story is just rinse and repeat with the only saving grace was Sami. Take away Sami and the story line is mid.
Cody vs Brock was the best of their trilogy Seth vs Finn was the classic Women's Triple threat got better over time and Iyo cashin My only problem was MMA match and the main event booking
LA knight winning the match was deserved but the show could've much better, It's not terrible in any means but last year's summerslam was far superior in my opinion.
Main Event and that MMA type of match were just full of boredom. I wasn't even excited for main event since unless it's Mania, Roman is not gonna lose.

All it needed was for Jey and Roman to deliver and sadly it felt like they left a lot on the table. Tribal combat that once again turned into Solo interferences, then what was the whole point? Also 2/3 of the match was just Roman squashing Jey, just a disappointing match
The Jimmy swerve was nonsense. After everything they've been through story line wise recently, Jimmy hasn't even shown instances of betrayal. Solo and Reigns also hospitalized Jimmy, did they some how "fake" the live beatdown? It all just seems goofy. It's obvious that Cody will defeat a Bloodline-less Roman at Mania, but how many more meaningful builds can they have?
I don’t think it would’ve saved the ppv per se, but having Ronda and Shayna instead of Becky and Trish was a wacky booking choice. No title but a match that wouldn’t have killed the vibe instantly. Becky just showing up would’ve popped the crowd, and Trish is amazing at riling up the crowd. I think it would’ve definitely help keep everyone hyped and not deflated
My personal favorite match was Ricochet and Logan Paul (ik put me in a cross for liking a Logan Paul match). Definitely a really good way to start off the show with great performances from both men. As a person, I don't like Logan, but ngl, he's starting to grow on me as a wrestler lately. He definitely is a natural talent, and we can't deny it anymore. And Ricochet will always put on a show whenever WWE gives him the opportunity, and they need to put the spotlight more on him. Brock and Cody was another really good match. My 2nd favorite match of the night. It felt like a passing a torch moment. LA Knight winning the Rumble was the SS moment that we wanted to see, and it was definitely awesome seeing the pop for him winning, with the climax being really good But yeah I agree with you, the show was underwhelming imo. Some matches just didn't hit me. McIntyre and Gunther was a good match, but not a match that we expected out of these two. They definitely had better matches, but still enjoyable. Seth and Balor was... good. Idk just didn't live up to the hype imo. They're both great, just something was missing from the match-up The main event was what I expected tbh. Was it main event worthy? I mean in terms of storytelling, definitely. But the match dragged and went over longer than it needed to be. Probably due to the fact that Roman got injured during the match and had give him some time to catch his breath and work through the injury. The twist was unexpected and awesome. Just the match was... well...mediocre Definitely not the best summerslam by any means, but still worth a watch if you haven't seen it
I was confused on the Cody vs Brock I was there live in person and wasn’t the match a regular match up? Referee was counting out Rhodes then Rhodes hits Brock with steel chairs then also a rope break lol but overall the night was amazing
Not even gonna mention the godawful flop that the main event finish was. Rollins/Balor was a fun time, Balor winning would've made it a classic imo easily match of the night. Triple threat was fun, but I truly think if Belair was gonna win, she should've gotten the pin on Flair with the 450 instead of rolling up Asuka. I absolutely don't understand the WWE's insistence on Asuka getting handed dumb Ls constantly, hitting Flair with the mist just to get rolled up is dumb, let Belair end Flair's undefeated streak at SummerSlam by pinning her while fighting through the injury caused by Flair, it works perfectly. The Iyo cash-in made up for it though, so happy she's champ. Was not interested in Lesnar/Rhodes and the post-match made it even more clear this was just a stupid pass-time feud since the only thing we have to think of why Lesnar started it is the off-script handshake and hand-raise, so it wasn't even the actual post-match angle written for the feud, meaning Lesnar still doesn't have a real reason for attacking Cody. Overall the show was a 6.5/10, so much damn potential and didn't get the job done unfortunately...
I think Cody and Rhodes shou have had a 3 stages of hell match, logan and ricoshet should have had a TLC match and Becky and Trish should have happened. And Drew and gunther should have ended in a no contest.

That battle Royal was so much fun in the building my section was turnt everyone was "shooooooshing" & "thank uuuuuing" 😂 Im happy for iyo but honestly I think Asuka should've got at least 1 big successful title defense

IDK where you've been to read people saying it's a masterpiece or classic but I thought it was thoroughly disappointing tbh. It could have been great but only a couple of matches were notewort5hy (IMO)
Seth Vs Finn was EASILY match of the night. 2nd best match, was logan vs Ricochet. The rest of the card was eh. Gunther vs Drew should’ve been MUCH better but what nothing like Gunther vs Sheamus at Clash at the castle so. But I think everyone had too high expectations for Gunther vs Drew. The only matches that completely sucked was tribal combat and that fake mma fight Rhonda and Shayna had. Those two matches ruined this whole show tbh. When people remember this show, they only gonna remember the horrible main event, and the awful mma fight. Oh and I’m sure everyone will remember Seth Vs Finn.
It was a weak main event, the worst Roman match since his heel turn. The women's triple threat maybe should have went before the World Title. For me, the World Title was the best match of the show and the crowd couldn't react to the last 2 matches after that. It was also a long show, so the crowd was exhausted.
I remember during the MMA match, me in the people around me were all on their phones. I was texting my wrestling buddies from home despite being at the damn show. Horrible match.
I personally feel they messed up at Mania 39. Cody should've won that match. This bloodline story could work just as well if not better without the Championship involved and now it's just tiring cuz Roman always wins it's boring. The Championship could've made the Cody vs Brock feud better than it already was.
It's weird that the next ple is called payback, because for the first time this year, the stories all feel finished. Usually by the end of a ple, half the next card is obvious and by the following Smackdown, you can guess 90% of it. Other than the leftover Rhea v Raquel match, I can't think of a single match for it and it's in 3 weeks. Even Jimmy v Jey seems to not be happening. So where does the payback part come in
Your take on the main event is understandable. You can only see the same fuck-finish so many times before it gets boring. It's gotten to the point where I skim most of Roman's matches. Long entrance, mid wrestling, with a bit of juicy drama at the end. Rinse and repeat.
Summer slam was good i mean you got my boy seth going in there winning his match against finn and came still champion you ronda vs shayna in they mma fight plus it was ronda last match anyway and you cody finally beat brock i don't know what they gonna do with cody now i rather see him going after the ic title or world title so but all tho that cool but um the ending hurt for what Jimmy did to jey in that tribal combat match roman and jey had

I went in super excited for Summerslam like it was for Wrestlemania and coming out of watching it feeling meh. It was good not great like the previous PLE this year. I put this one below the other's thus far.
For me, it was an expected show, I expected Iyo to cash in. We all knew Roman and Gunter would retain. We knew that as much as we hate Logan he'd look great as a wrestler and get the win. Cody wasn't gonna lose to Lesner. The only thing that was unknown was whether or not WWE would have LA Knight win the Battle Royal. Seth winning was a weird and questionable thing too and Damien should've cashed in after Finn lost imo... No real returns, nothing crazy, we knew everyone could wrestle, but it felt boring for a Triple H show to me... I was hoping for one little surprise... But nothing... Second biggest show and nothing... WILD
I stopped actively watching WWE after the RAW after Mania because of Lesnar attacking Rhodes for... whatever reason. I still keep up to date mostly through videos like these or friends. I feel like the storytelling in WWE has kind of gotten... not 'worse' but sometimes it just doesn't make any sense, or it gets drawn out way longer than it should be. See also: not booking talent as I feel they should be booked. Ever since Balor got injured for the Universal Championship, it's like they actively have him on a "Never Book to Win a Title" list. Give the man a championship run already!

The IWC is so negative all the time for no reason. Y’all need to relax on freaking out over the bloodline stuff. They delivered on smackdown and the story is still compelling.
For me in regards to the finn v seth match. I agree finn should have lost. But i feel like in the end everything plays out the same except he should have kicked out the first out from the stomp forcing seth to acknowledge him but also seth delivering a second stomp before finn can get up where finn then looses. This protects finn’s internal spirit with the audience for the long run. It shows he can return to greatness and he has that deeper well, he is just on the wrong side. He has to break the 4th wall in promo He has to allude to understanding that his relinghishing of the universal not only cost him his future but it cost the fans there future. Finn baylor the first Universal champion title reigns is a real life what if. What if Vince did see Finn as the new face of the company what he did go on to be that guy. Would there be an AE……. Im just saying the story should write itself
I agree the show was mid. ronda and shayna should’ve been a 5 minute squash match, tribal combat could’ve shaved at least 10 minutes of their match to have trish vs becky on the show. Also would’ve had the battle royal as the co-main to pace the show differently

Like a hit from a power hitter it was a good swing but it’s a popfly. It wasn’t bad but it could’ve been better and that kept happening nearly every match. Good matches but not a great matches
