Alright Jake! That's called "Praying For Wind" brudda LoL! I dig you bro because you are still out there having some fun and chasing the gusters even if they are only the summer doldrums... Gust Hunter for real... You are out there living your passion for the sport and I would be right there with you practicing helicopters, railrides, and freestyle moves if I was down there right now! Thx for posting as always.
Week before last I got the longboard out in light wind with a 6.5 and did my first Duck Jibes. Getting the handwork right. It is weird at first, but stoked on it.
@@gusthunter8780 That's great dude! I'll tell you a good shortcut to learning the duck jibe... Set up a 5.5 or something similar (smaller sail) in your back yard and stick the mast base in the ground so it doesn't move, then just stand both feet apart for stability and just practice the sail throw. Don't let the mast go down too far towards the ground. Give the sail a good STRONG toss over and towards the back over your shoulder on each side. Do it a bunch of times in a row to get the feel for it and then when you get on your board your muscle memory will already be locked in. Then it's just a matter of timing the throw and keeping steady pressure on the rail as you carve through the turn. But the sail will be right there waiting for you if you give it a good toss. You'll be amazed when you do your first clean Duck jibe! No more fumbling around with the sail as you try to maneuver through the turn I think it's actually easier than a normal jibe once you get it dialed in but the key is practicing the sail throw on dry land first over and over on both tacks til you can do it consistently. Good luck!
