I figured I would approach the installation of the diverter valve or 3rd function, depending on what you call it, with the loader off the tractor during the install. Most kept it on, I thought it might be easier off the tractor. I did get the GWT discount of 5% off the price when I ordered. In a later video, I will explain why I went with this grapple and diverter kit. I apologize about the length, but I go into detail on the install.

I finally got a grapple yesterday and ordered the Summit kit. This video is going to be super helpful when it arrives!

Yeah man, I hope it helps a lot. So I'm guessing you got a grapple for the 2305? Can't wait to see some more LJDG videos. As always, thanks for watching.

@@FloridaDeere Yes, it came with a grapple that needs to be installed. Just the incentive I needed to get it done finally I think.

@@LukesJohnDeereGarage Yes, that is a great incentive to purchase a tractor for sure. The summit kit is small money compared to the grapple.

I would turn the diverter valve upside down as well as the bolts that hold it on ...it would keep the sharp end of the bolts down and the hose management a lot simpler

Yeah man, I think you are right and I never put the padding under the valve body, so your suggestion is a good reason to take care of that issue. Thanks for watching.

Thanks man, how did you like the loader off install? Did you see any of the "loader-on" install videos from other channels? Thanks for watching and your continued support Walter.

@@FloridaDeere I believe the loader off install is the way to go. At some point and time, I would love to do the same thing. Love your videos!

What was the total cost. It looks like it will save a lot of back pain. I like it.

Yeah Jim, going to do another video about how I came to this selection, $1500 for grapple out the door and $525 or so for the diverter with the GWT discount. I held off awhile, but after using it, it was very nice, saves a lot of back work for sure. As always, thanks for watching man.

Is there any reason I couldn't run my long hoses from my grapple cylinder all the way to the diverter block? That would be two less connections and I would not have the extra hoses dangling on the loader when grapple is not in use. Of course use a set of quick connects at the diverter block.

So you would run the long hoses from the grapple itself all the way to the diverter block and have quick connects directly on the block? Is that what you mean? I guess you could, but it's possible, those hoses, being longer and not "permanent" would be more susceptible to getting tangled up. But if you figured that issue out, I guess I wouldn't see why not. But I'm not expert. Thanks for watching and let me know if that's what you meant.

Summit did not have a specific kit for my 2305, but recommended I get a kit for JD sub-compact tractors that does not include the hoses, which I can get made-up locally. Is there any reason why you can't use the original hoses that go from the tractor's valves to the tilt cylinders and re-route them to the diverter valve? That way, I'd only have to have two additional sets of hoses made up rather than three.

So, I think if memory serves me well enough, the hoses are two different sizes (thickness) and the ones that reach the front of the boom are, of course, longer, but it may work. Also, I believe the ones coming off the tractor couplers do loop around and go to the front of the diverter, so maybe they needed to be new, longer ones of the same size (thickness). I will check and try to comment back after I take a look at it.

It’s been quite a while since you installed the diverter so what is your opinion of it functionality wise and quality wise? Would you recommend the Summit? I am thinking of getting one for my 1025R and plan on installing it myself like you did.

Yeah, I have no compliants at all other than I just accidently ripped off the plug section of it because I forgot to disconnect it last time I took the loader off, but that's hardly Summit's fault, really me just being dumb. I was either going to repair it or call them and order a new one. But all in all, I have not had any issues. The only thing is that I use electical tape to secure the lighted plug at the manifold. It goes in fine, but doesn't seem like it would stay there if I left as is with all the knocking around I do on the tractor. And the only other minor issue is when it doesn't work, it usually because the connector in the fuse box fell out, so if that happens to you, check the fuse box first. Not sure that is Summit's fault either of John Deere for a semi-loose fuse box. As far as the tool itself, the love the grapple, can't believe I waited 2 years to get one. Thanks for watching.

Do not buy the summit kits Parts missing bad instructions save your money by the John Deere your kid instead

Johnny, I'm guessing you had a bad experience with Summit? My experience was pretty good with them, but it was only that one kit I bought. All the parts were there and the instructions were pretty good in my opinion, as best I can remember. Nothing against JD, not sure why I chose Summit over the OEM Deere kit, maybe cost, not sure, because I bought the Deere OEM grapple and rear Hydraulic kit.
