For everyone wanting to go there here are how much it costs. "The price range for a standard supported climb ranges from $28,000 to $85,000. A fully custom climb will run over $115,000 and those extreme risk-takers can skimp by for well under $20,000. @ITCOG
@ITCOG 2 года назад
@@matteo89ify Transportation to the mountain by airplane or helicopter on the south side. You cannot drive up the Khumbu. You can walk, but it would take you a few weeks from the last road. Oh and you need to pay people to carry your food and fuel and everything else you need for a 6 week expedition and 3 weeks walking in and out. Think about that. The man power it takes just to get a bag of rice from the store in KTM to Everest basecamp. And then the sherpa to carry it up the mountain. By the time a bottle of O2 gets used on summit day costs a lot more than its puchase price. It is purchased for say $100. Then you have to pay someone to package the O2 and take it to the airport. That's baggage that needs to be paid for. Someone then needs to pick it up at the airport and transfer it by foot or yak for a week to get to base camp. one is paying for a chef and kitchen staff. Climbing Sherpa to help carry loads or food gear and oxygen up the mountain and build camps. Then at the end, all of that stuff, including the trash needs to be carried out and "disposed of". Anyhow, thats the basics of why it costs so much.

@pontius4915
@pontius4915 3 года назад
Even Sherpas would do that if they didn't acclimatize. If you would go from sea level to Mt Everest in a couple of days or maybe a week, even as a nepalese with their genetic trait, you would experience the same thing. Climbing Mt Everest is a 2 month long endeavour because you need to acclimatize to the height
@team3383
@team3383 3 года назад
@@pontius4915 Precisely why there are camps at different levels ... You don't get to the first camp from sea level. You START at first camp which is already higher than most other mountains. Sherpas are better acclimatized. They are born and live in Nepal at high altitude. My comment was to say that EVERYBODY is already acclimatized by going through these camps. There are no unnaclimatized persons as if they had just landed stright in from LAX in USA, so the comment about a normal person passing out or falling asleep never to wake up is useless. We all know what happens when an airplane depressurizes - Oxygen masks fall down. etc etc. Its like saying that a normal person would be crushed by Mike Tyson in the first round. Of course they would, but a "normal person" waits until he is a trained person before picking a fight with MT. Hmmmmmmm.
