Great to see you still doing content, watched you years ago. As a retired basejumper I needed something to fill the void, so I bought a Parajet Maverick with Moster 185...see you in the sky soon!! Just still ground handling my Dudet Uni for now
Thanks, I figured 6 years in the sport with no injuries, a little 4 year old playing on my mind while away on trips to France..ended up getting to me. 1 year to the week of no jumping! I miss it dearly, but I still have sky diving and now Paramotoring to focus on. Maybe I will pick BASE up again later on in life...anyway have fun on your BASE journey!! @@PNWBLUEBARON
I can’t believe you took off right in my backyard, the closest house south of your taking off location is where I live, how did I miss you? One day I’ll meet you, maybe you’ll teach me how to fly someday.
Hiked up Picacho several times, very unique hike! Trail is from the early days of aviation when there was a locator beacon up there for the mail planes to follow. Just east across Rt. 10 is also the site of the western most Civil war battle.......more of a skirmish than anything. Cool flight!
Welcome to Arizona Tucker! Long time watcher! Being I live in the Tucson area I was super excited to see you come to our area! I've always wanted to get into the sport but didn't even know where to start. In one of your video's you talked about starting a school in Phoenix. Let us know if you do, cause you are the only guy I would trust to teach me.
I LOVE flying Picacho! Such a cool perspective! (remember to avoid the ostrich farm). Another good flight is the 2,800ft "Elephant Head" cliff near Green Valley AZ. Weird to see you post videos as my usual hangs! Saw you hanging out in Florida with Eric, almost had a run-in with you at the AFC last month, and I'm told I just missed you at Skydive Phoenix... I'll wing-tip touch you one of these days! ;-P
Awesome video ! Late 70s we were camped near the peak on Christmas morning. At about 4 am, my dad started yelling to get up. A triangle ufo at least a 4 football fields in size, totally black, three dull red 1/2 orbs on each corner floated over us. Completely silent. It went directly over the peak. Very close. The red light dimly lit the summit. It was staggering to experience. The silence was bizzare.
I just bought my first paramotor after paragliding for a couple years. I'm so hyped up for the weather to improve so I can finally fly in more unique areas!
Cool video, Picacho peak is awesome and one of our favorites, that being said, it would be really great if you would talk to the local pilots before flying our favorite lz's and potentially causing us major problems. The ostrich guy named rooster weirdly, is freaking nuts and hates any aviation especially us, he's had sheriff's out there and even shot at a hot air balloon one time, unfortunately he has a big mouth and deep pockets local influence and we've spent many years going back and fourth with him about flying there the conclusion of which is we agreed to keep a good margin of space from his property and never fly over it. Thankfully, since we all adhere to that agreement, we haven't heard from him in about a year and fly there often, unfortunately after your flight, I'm sure we're going to have problems again which could potentially cost us one of our favorite lz's. As you noticed his birds were running like crazy when you flew over because they're terrified of us and they could potentially die from it, which isn't your problem or mine from a legal airspace perspective, however AZ has strict laws on endangering farm animals. I understand that naturally you would not know this as a visiter to our lz, and we love the fact that you want to fly here, but please reach out to the locals anywhere you fly so that we don't have to clean up your mess.
typical entitled snowbirds and others doing their usual snowbird stuff. Pinal County sheriff's office is pretty good at getting their ducks in a row and following through with the entitled weirdos. If something is legal, it's not necessarily moral.
@@DidiGrooves he lives in phx now, so he's not really a snowbird but that lz he launched from is popular with us Tucson pilots, there are some phx guys that fly there too but we're pretty protective of it cause it's one of our favorite lz's. We've had problems with the ostrich guy for years, which we understand his birds are skittish, but why he would put his bird farm right next to a major intestate and more importantly next to the literal most prominent aviation landmark in az is beyond me, but still we all try to be good neighbors and respectful within reason so we never fly over his farm like Tucker did.
Wow, it is insane to me that you would call Tucker entitled when CLEARLY, your arrogant really rude comments to him reveal that you believe you own that place and believe everyone should check with YOU first because YOU feel entitled to everyone's adherence to your personal journey and your personal wishes. It's like Tucker forgot to kiss the ring. It's ok that Tucker didn't know. It's not Ok that you came off with a cruise ship full of attitude towards him being nasty. Next time, if you have something to inform someone about, treat them with the respect you believe you deserve. It's good that Tucker has that information now, but it would have been better if you had delivered it without the nasty attitude and making it all about you. Lol would bet my life that Tucker checks in with locals when he knows they are cool people to interact with. I can tell you that if I were him, seeking his peaceful life journey, he would steer clear of you. Next time, lead with the respect that you want to be treated with.
@@mariateresabissinger3035 I only wrote one comment to him and I started it with cool video, and I didn't call him entitled. I felt like I was pretty respectful and only asked what any local pilot would ask of someone new about their local fields, I also never once said I, I said we, we being the local pilot community. I think you misread something.
Pi-CAH-Cho 😀Peak! We renovated that state park with our nonprofit at the foot of the mountain back in 2021. It's awesome to be there in the late winter. Also, those wild boar are possibly Javelina which are native to AZ. Just wild seeing you in our home state! Enjoy the beauty!
So stoked your liking Phoenix!! I grew up here for quite some time, but i first saw your channel living in the Midwest, and also just recently moved back to Phoenix! Hope to gain courage to start PPG SOON!
Greetings from Nogales, AZ. Great to see you making content in my home state. I've been by Picacho many times. I've been told that a historical significance is that it is the site of the most westward location of a battle during the 'Civil War'. Nice flight especially with things getting green. Winter is over!
1:58 - Based on the geography and color of their coats, those were more than likely javelina (AKA, peccary or "Skunk Pig"), which are native to the Americas and unrelated to the Suidae family (often referred to as "true pigs", which include the species we commonly call pigs/hogs/boar/etc...). While feral hogs can be found in pockets across Arizona, their populations are relatively small. It is possible, however, that they were in fact wild hogs/boar, although they tend to be found in more remote areas (javelina look remarkably similar to pigs, especially considering how far separated they are taxonomically speaking, but they are a bit smaller with almost imperceptible tails. Features which can be difficult to distinguish under even the best conditions).
You did it! Thank you. I've always wanted to do exactly what you did (except fly so close to cliff face LOL). I still hope to do that one day soon. I did my solo X-country for my Private Pilot license going from Phoenix to Tucson and Yuma in a G.A. plane circa 1970!. There is something magical about Picacho Peak that is like a Siren calling my name! Now I have a Fly Products Flash Cruiser PPG and my dream is still alive. Thanks again for the grand tour!
An adventure flight from Tucker! It’s been too long! I love your adventure flights. Scenery slightly reminiscent of Iceland. As a Londoner, I’m surprised how verdant Arizona looks! Keep on Tucking, son!
I need to know Tucker, what made you get into flying paramotors? The videos you make are so relaxing and your voice is so calm. You are not gloating that you are flying but yet enjoying yourself.
Great video, must have missed you at the LZ by a few hours, I caution guys not to fly over the Ostrich farm over there, that guy has been known to bring out the shot gun and use it. Yes, I know, we are doing nothing wrong flying over there however that guy is crazy and claims he has 5 million dollars of birds and has shown up at this LZ pretty irate. Once again, I realize we are doing nothing wrong, but, my wing is not bullet proof.
Dude!!! So bad ass!! The top of that mountain was sick!!! And that sunset was bad ass as well. Crazy how sketch those mountains look though when you’re up close like sharp and unforgiving!! But it was sick to see the cactus the trail and you just doing you!!! I’m gonna go to your uncut and watch that other one, your the man!!!
Pih•kah•cho. Picacho peak, buddy! Looks great while overcast. Heads up, when summer rolls in and monsoons roll through, it gets HECTIC right there so stay limber! Keep it all the way up, seen-your. (And inflated). 👍👌👏
I like how the cacti are growing all the way to the cliff on the plateau... You should get a photographer and go up with the trike-mobile. That way you can concentrate on flying and the passenger can take pictures. You have a unique view of the world and I really enjoy your adventures.
Picacho awesome, in the early 90s i did work on the mountain across I-10 newman peak it has the radio towers and antennas it is a helicopter only access the power lines and buildings and generator were built and lifted to the mountain with a kaman hh-43 huskie. We had to refuel the propane generator by helicopter sling load using a bell jet ranger. Tucker if you could do a flyover of newman across the 10 that would be awesome thx
Hey Tucker, Ostriches are deadly with the velociraptor-talon-things, but compared to a handful of toothy, mature boars with big cutters, CLIMB A TREE REALLY FAST!!! Boar hogs RAZOR sharp 'cutters' will shred human flesh to ribbons in a matter of seconds, and jaw strength to crush bone to dust in no time, hence the old tales of body disposal by pig LOL. Thanks for bringing us as always, hope you continue to enjoy your new home, peace!
It's pronounced "Pee-Cot-Cho Peak"... we camp at the base very frequently. Very Cool perspective! I've circled it in the C172 a few times and once or twice in my Ultralight years ago.... those were likely Javelina... aka Peccary.. running below you.
After 13years of pg just adding ppg recently my 2 cents to add is that all that overcast really helped with the lack of thermal prodution on top! If those rock facing the sun all day had been able to heat up more it would probably be a different story.
If you think this rock was fun to fly, I think you should make a trek to the Driftless region along the Upper Mississippi River. I live in Winona MN which is in the river valley. We have 400ft to 700ft Limestone rock faces and bluffs with countless sub-valleys that go from the bluff top to the river basin. It would be a blast!
Wow! I follow a RU-vidr on a trip through Baja Mexico and he saw paragliding down there and wanted to do that so I told him to check out your channel. I remember seeing that you were seeking people who might want to learn to fly.
Glad you are having a good time in Arizona. I’ve been wanting to fly my plane around Picacho. (Pee -caw -Cho). Those were javalina you saw. If you ever want to do a scenic flight in a fixed wing hit me up
Currently in college but I have decided that once I get a stable high paying job, I will start my paramotor journey! The only thing holding me back right now is me being a broke college student😅
I remember driving past Picacho Peak when I was driving from Phoenix to Tucson. It is quite an impressive sight!! You should take a trip to Mt Lemmon. Ride your motorcycle up it. It is exciting!!
1:58 Those are Javelinas. Very common in southern AZ. They're also known as skunk pigs, because of the white stripe on their back and their potent musk glands. In Sierra Vista, they roam the town at night and knock over trash cans. They're also quite aggressive.
Great to see you having fun in Arizona! However like I seen someone else touch on the ostrich farmers have a lot of pull there. As silly as an ostrich farmer having pull in the community sounds it's very true. Just be careful flying near livestock farms there in Arizona. Can't wait to catch your next upload and thank you for the crazy cliff shots!
I just hope we can get a Paramotor made with a quiet engine or at least a muffler for the sound. Looking forward to the Electric motor flights. Nice scenery in this one.
Hi Tucker. What would you Recommend for a bigger person as far as paramotor and wings go? Someone who's 280 lbs, 6 feet tall and has never ridden a paramotor before?
Awesome video! I would love to see a review on the electric paramotor 2024 sp-140. Insight from someone with as much experience as you have would be great.
the reason why those rocks are so jagged in middle of Arizona is because most of the 'standing rocks' in the central part of the state is volcanic andesite and are igneous; and have been there for millions of years. the amount of erosion they've had has caused them to become jagged and pitted
