I think the one problem with the LEGO _Sonic_ theme is the "Cost of Entry", and I really hope that we can get some cheaper sets for LEGO _Sonic_ that capture the already great play feel. What made the 2001-2002 _BIONICLE_ Toa and the 2011-2012 _Ninjago_ Spinners so good was that they provided fun play features at affordable prices. We just need $10 sets that are just the Speed Sphere Launcher, a Minifigure, and one Badnik/obstacle. In fact, I could even see the potential for these hypothetical $10 sets to include stuff like different outfits for the characters, and different prints for the Speed Sphere.

Yes I completely agree, having at least the main three/4 and eggman show up in a $10 set each would go a long way toward revitalizing the theme!!

@@skybirdmakes Heck, as much as I dislike the post-2015 _Ninjago_ Spinner Sets for including non-canon NRG forms of the Ninja in order to prevent the sets from being cheap means of getting the Minifigures of the main cast, I wouldn't mind a similar approach with these hypothetical $10 LEGO _Sonic_ sets, as long as they have a healthy mix of both references to previous outfits the cast has worn over years, and new ideas from The LEGO Group's designers. Plus, it would help introduce an aspect of collectability and value to these hypothetical sets.

The price on the thumbnail reminds me of the show ReBoot (Hello, fellow ninties kid here); in particular, Mike the T.V. and his sales pitch kick where you can get a product for the low low price of 99.99.99 (put extra emphasis on the last 9). But as a sonic fan (again, hello fello ninties kids) I think it goes without saying, that the price for tha lego set is... way past cool... and NOT in a good way. So to quote my favorite anthropomorphic blue hedgehog from a ninties video game series "I'm outta here." *Proceeds to jump off the stage*

We really need $10 LEGO _Sonic_ sets that can capture the play feel on a budget, as well as incentivize customers to buy more, kind of like the Toa from _BIONICLE,_ or the Spinners from _Ninjago._

See, what happens is, sonic games were too varied and churned out too fast for sonic team to do stiff like fixing collisions, and refining the varied gameplay styles, until unleashed came along. And, though those games couldn't be perfect, they did have lots of cool concepts and even if it's not prrfectly realised, some of those concepts might've been someone's idea of perfect and never got expanded on. But when unlesshed came in, it heralded a focusing in on one gameplay style, a shift from the hard rocking early 2000s to more orchestral scores, and more time to focus on collision issues. And marketing! So, Unleashed, then Colours, then Generations, then Lost World, then Forces, then Frontiers. Unlesshed, Colours, Generations used the 'boost formula', then Lost World did away with it, then they brought it back for Forces and Frontiers. A focus on speed, reacting to obstacles. Jump, homing attack, slide, stomp, boost to move forward rapidly, rapid movements to the left and right like changing lanes, with the quickstep, and drift around corners. Also, 2d sections where you can just jump, homing attack, boost, slide, stomp and move left and right. Unleashed used these sparingly but these are frequent in the other games to slow down the pace so it's not several miles of racetrack and reactions, but a prediction-based slower gameplay. Also reoccurring obstacles imply that this is a very cheap part of the game to bulk produce. Colours also had wisps, which, you use them st the time to use them, don't think they have that much conceptual variance at least on console version. And Generations had Classic Sonic, a 2d style inspired by but not not attempting to perfectly replicate the movement of the genesis games. Soin dash, jump, roll. When this formula happened for three games in a row, people asked for something different. They got Sonic Lost World. The main gameplay is often compared to Mario Galaxy. It's a different style from boost, but it's lambasted as un-sonic-like, too slow, and the villains as one-note, and the final boss, the final impression of the game, is a copy of the moveset of sonic colours' final boss. It was a timed exclusive for the Wii U before being released on Steam later. The Sonic Boom years were always pushed as their own thing, a supplementary franchise with its own TV show and character designs. One Wii U game by an outsourced studio of both bland level design and riddled with bugs. So, they returned to the boost style for Forces, but, with the classic sonic as well, confusing since it wasn't a plot about time travel. And a third gameplay style, the avatar, a custom character meant to serve as an audience insert,a gameplay style like shadow the hedgehog or sonic 06, that medium speed combat supported but not intrinsically focused style, which was part of the game's general aesthetic response in an attempt to capture the ever-growing movement of appreciation and counterculture towards the previous denigration of the so-called 'dark age' of sonic, of telling edgy stories and not settling on one style, and the adolescent internet era of sonic oc's, capped off with a masked villain with a rap metal dubstep song, Infinite. Buuuuut...the game was too short, the levels were really short, they reused green hill and chemical plant as areas when they'd already done that for the nistalgia game and sonic mania, the other nostalgia game, the villain's backstory was he got called weak, they reused the Sonic Colours final boss again, and they kind of just vaguely danced on the darker themes. Like, there was a black screen saying Sonic was tortured for 4 months and he still wisecracked as ever. I think Super Sonic was originally intended to be paid DLC, but they released it fir free i think. And...Frontiers! The overworlds are bew, where you'll spend most of your time, and there's more lateral movement than there's been in a long time, so it's a meanigful development of boost-based movement as opposed to another iteration of the same, all the boss fights are unique, the big ones use super sonic and back to the metal with Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, which the rock fans of the 2000s are happy with. The story is a more sober one, dad but hopeful with lots of discovery, which fans of the deeper stories that respect themselves are happier with. The game was obviously rushed; the producer said he had to fight for another year, the actual levels are just reconstructions of previous levels and the game has a few small bullet hell sections literally using the ikaruga bullet polarity mechanic but it was unexpected that the final boss would be one and have no lyrics, which...they changed by having another one! Final horizon was an update that kind of feels like it's what they wanted to originally do, woth their own unique level designs! And a new version of the main theme reprised into rock boss mueic! And also an answer to people who thought the main gske was too easy with a perfection-demanding mandatory time trial boss rush before the new final boss, and a lot more convoluted puzzle and platfotming design, eeh, some of which feels more like things managed to finagle and gimmick out of the engine than what it's designed for, but that's fine, it's great! It's imperfect! Something for us to complain about, something for them to consider. Maybe give poor Kishimoto and Iizuka yet another year. Point is, Sonic fans should be clamouring and fevering and dissatisfied, cos there was a decade of half, maybe quarter-baked masterpieces, and then we got a decade of what I'd consider competently made, low on bugs, well-marketed but uninspired and yet reactionary corporate slop. It's important to be dissatisfied with both. When you do, you get something a little better at each, like the fairly balanced between the two Sonic Frontiers. Too inspired to be exactly slop but very much not original, but that did afford them time to make sure it's not as buggy as it could be, but there's still bugs. Also, just a stray thought, have you ever, well, 1. Heard Neil Cicierega's Redesign Your Logo, or 2. Read that which inspired it, the pepsi-arnell, or pepsi breathtaking, pepsi universe, whatever it's called, logo redesign document? Fascinating read. Just a stray thought I had of the kind of aggressively safe, aggressively corporate attitude. That document is a whole trip, hilarious read, it's like the delusional ramblings I'd come up with back in a-levels but with a bit more madness and a bit more willing to say "screw it, golden ratio."
