Hello and thanks for joining us on another edition of SUMO PRIME TIME. I'm Hiro Morita. The March Tournament is still two weeks away but our love for sumo never ceases. As you know, there are no weight classes in sumo. For a smaller combatant to defeat a much bigger opponent, he must attack with a very effective weapon. And I believe that weapon is the Katasukashi or Under shoulder swing down. We often see a top division’s smallest rikishi ,Midorifuji, beautifully execute the move on much bigger opponents to rack up victories. As usual, former Makuuchi wrestler and one of the most well-known experts in winning techniques, Coach Kabutoyama, teaches me how to properly execute the Katasukashi. Hope you enjoy another introduction to sumo’s winning ways, KATASUKASHI! And stay tuned for more insights into the world of sumo on SUMO PRIME TIME!
All the best for Sazanami. 10 months ago he won Sandanme yusho but struggled in Makushita afterwards. Hopefully he will cement his rank to high Makushita and has a chance for sekitori someday.
Like the guy walking on stage and realizing there's an audience "Oh hello, I didn't see you there". I love how Japanese TV personalities still stick to these old tacky cliches.
2:50 - Those are some classic sumo fingers! Busted more times than he can count by opponents trying to break his mawashi grip. Heard Konishiki talking about how all his had been broken at various times.
Ждал, когда кто-нибудь скажет. Но это канал для нубов и популяризации, а показывать грязные игры страшно. Таканохану родного съели, Великого Монгола точно сожрут.
The JSA and NHK are screwing themselves and international sumo fans by removing Natto Sumo content. The way Natto Sumo formats his coverage is the absolute best. The JSA and NHK should work with Natto Sumo to offer international fans some kind of pay per view for each tournament. I'd pay $20 for each tournament if I could watch coverage that was exactly like Natto Sumo's content.
I hate that hokuho has now lost management control of his stable. I hope in time they will give it back to him. He's a living legend. I don't condone the behavior of his pupil but sumo needs someone like hokuho.
I really hope you allow Miyagino Oyakata the chance to learn from his mistakes and run his stable again. If he is kicked out, we will all know why and the JSA will lose many followers.
Sumo prime time = Great. Sumo tournaments = Great. Sumo politics within the association / Elders politics = Meh....... Of course, the association can do whatever it wants, but recent news cannot be good for the sport, the country, and its culture. It's leaving a rather sour taste....
Thank you for your videos. They are fun to watch and very informative. But after almost 30 years of watching and following sumo, I have decided to stop. After everything that has happened over the years and the way it has been handled, I have lost interest.
