You are right about anyone should have been able to fix that. They didn't know what was wrong. Just seeing all the water sprang up, they thought there was a lot of grease built up around the pump, because that has happened in the past, I really only went there to see if that was the issue because then they would have to get a vacuum truck in And suck out all the grease in the water to clean up the pump. When I noticed what was wrong? I was able to fix it so I fixed it. Thanks for watching have a great day.kana

Yeah, the pump came disconnected at some point and tripped an alarm. So that's why they called us in. I was able to get everything fixed up. Thanks for watching have a great day. Dorit

I agree with the union. I only got sent there to see what was needed. They thought that the pit was filled up and the pump was shot. So I went there to investigate to see if we needed a vacuum truck to suck out all the greasy water and change it to pump. I wasn't really expected to do anything there. Other than look. Just because this was on a Friday night and I was on call so they asked me to swing by and see what was needed. I learned Long, long ago to not ever use those Jackel-type check valves. Reason being, they blow-apart too often, just like this one did. Many times, the hose clamps just rust -away, especially the no-name and Proflo (from Ferguson) but most often, they just come apart after time from the torque twist of the pump kicking on. I haven’t used one for many years, and I have never reused one that came apart. I always use and/or replace them with the PVC-type check valves with the nuts and rubber gaskets. Iv’e never had one of those come apart - even with massive amounts of head and pump pressure. I also try to find a way to keep the pump from twisting when it kicks on - sometimes you just can’t do it, but I always consider doing it.
I don't like them either but they sent me there to inspect the pit they thought it was full and needed to ve vacuumed out I was close so they wanted me to see how many hoses the truck would need. Then I found this so I did what I could to rectify the situation myself. Thanks for watching have a great day bruce
Brings back memories as a teen fixing my folk's 2 sump pumps in the half submerged basement that seem to go out every 3-5 years. Oh yes, lots of Ferncos and copper pipe vibrations...! Nice easy fix there for ya! 😊

Second, the video would have been way more exciting if you had just pulled the cover and plugged it back it. You took all of the fun out of it by inspecting the pump and pipe and finding the issue in such a methodical and boring way instead of the more stupid and exciting way :) Good job...
Lol they call because it's common sense to check it out and most people don't have common sense anymore lol and I didn't want to get the area where I would be laying down all wet lol but I should have iylt would make a better video you're right. That's the bad part sometimes isn't it fixing someone else's goof. In this case it wasn't too bad. You did what you had to do and got it done. Using the channel locks as a hook was brilliant.
