the song is huge in SA but i think the video did not do it justice....

Akanamali translated from Zulu means 'He doesn't have money'. So this is sang from two point of views the first being from the guy's point of view where he is telling his friends that no matter what, come December he is taking this girl even though his friends try to remind him of her cynical gold digging friends. The second point of view - which is the hook, is from the girl's point of view where her friends tell her that :"This boyfriend of yours doesn't have money" but then she defends him and says :"Even though he does't have money, he still loves me for who I am" The way I see the video, it juxtaposes the two faces of love one being true love and the other being love which is based on money. Hence in the first part you see the two true lovers running away to be together (Romeo and Juliet vibes) the second part is the young girl disobeying her mother and going out with her rich 'boyfriend' only to find out that all that glitters ain't really gold. As for the ending, I'm also still confused on that one lol

Guys it is a language barrier. The video is talking about girls who chase money and they chase the guys who pretend tohave it and they get played. First scene a girl from the village goin to the big city, second scene a girl doesnt listen to her mother and goes with the guy and ends up at his empty house and last in the club and the guys card gets declines. In the end all the people in these scenes come out for the final scene with Sun EL and soweto

To understand the video you'll have to understand the meaning of the song. The song basically says "akanamali kodwa uthanda yonke into endiyiyo" which means s/he don't have money but s/he loves all that I am. So basically from the guys perspective he's saying that although he doesn't have money, she still loves him with all that he has (since she's willing to leave home and run away with him). Then the guy later tells his friend that no matter what people say about her and her friends that like money, he still loves her and wants to marry her (in December). Now from the girls perspective it's all about how she still loves him even though he's really broke but acts rich (e.g him living it up in the clubs and driving a nice car but has an empty house with no furniture).......the video doesn't entirely make sense, especially in the end but anyway I hope I kinda explained it for you lot.

Oooh love this Jam. About the Song: As some people mentioned ... in essence, it is a song about loving someone regardless of whatever circumstances/situation they are in. The song is gender neutral(bt coz its males singing, the assumption is that it is a girl), but nonetheless it could be a girl/boy you love unconditionally and through out the song, they mention some things they love about this person...Eventually telling friends that they will marry this girl/boy in December, lol @ the specification. Also those friends giving advice about being wary of loving that person too much, warning him/her about the love interest's friends liking money. And then that so called love interest defending the her/his saying that s/he has no money but he loves everything, everything that I am. Translation of some parts of the song. Ngiya'mthanda = I love him/her. Akanamali = he/she doesn't have money Kodwa uthanda yonke, yonke into engiyiyo- but s/he loves everything, everything that I am. So it's about loving someone regardless of their financial position or circumstances in love. Almost a conversation. He is strong headed and vows he will marry her by December. Her friends are telling her she shouldn’t be in love with him because he has no money. But she is adamant, and explains that he loves her for all that she is.

There's Lounge house, Soulful house, Jazz house, there's South African commercial house, Afrobeats house, we also do a bit of electro etc...

OK guys let me explain the video. The girl likes money but she doesn't have money hence "Akan 'imali" so she tries to date different guys in oder to see who can fulfill her desires for money. She runs away from home from her mother and boyfriend because he is broke..but at the end as she learns her leason, that is why you see everyone together at the end of the video.

AKANAMALI = referres to a person who doesn't have money, now the song is talking about the South African youth, young guys who buy fancy cars( if you're from the townships a VW polo or any golf will make you a top dog). Most girls tend to like these guys because they can take them wherever they want to go, they drive cars but live in back rooms like the guy you saw his house was empty. It's only those few good ones who end up with caring and loving guys the rest only care about the fun life and who sees them, in cars they dont have buying alcohol with money they dont
