Thanks, brilliant. 20 year old machine, old pump finally died. The video is step by step, hardest part was fitting the hose back to the bottom of the pump, ended up removing one of the grills on the bottom plate. Thank you, legend

Thanks so much for this video. My new steam pump is in transit so it’s great that I’ll have this video to follow (parts still available on eBay). Hasn’t skipped a beat in 8 years so hope that this repair will get me a few more years yet! Thanks again ☕️👍

Great video - thanks for the detailed step by step - worked like a charm . One minor comment I had to use a T20 hex (not T15)for that 'difficult screw' . Nice to be abled to re-use rather than discard!

Thanks for making the video. It gave me the confidence to have a go. And of course you identified all the screws to undo. That would have taken me a while to work out. Some additional comments are: - T20 for the long screw worked for me. - I undid all connections before drilling out the rivets. - The brass pipe was a little difficult to remove, until I loosened the connection to the aluminium manifold, and could rotate the fitting at one end. - I also used a air duster to ensure all metal fragments including the ends of the rivets were out. I put paper under the machine so I could see what fell out, and used the air duster as well as lifting the machine and tilting it to listen for metal moving. - I used 10g 16mm metal screws to replace the rivets. I also took the opportunity to replace the brew head seal so now I can use less coffee to achieve the same intensity. Wished I had done this a while ago as it was so simple to do. The machine is now back in action and working perfectly. Thanks again. And remember to unplug the machine first. The reminder to do this is several minutes into the video. Jon

Thank you for this video: it made my job really easy. I bought and fitted a new pump yesterday. the original pump went for at least 10 years before it got sporadic in starting. One hick up I had was finding a couple of screws to fix the pump back to the frame. I ended up using a couple of metal roofing bolts that were of the right diameter but have hexagonal heads: they're a bit big but they do the job. The other thing that caused me a bit of a heart attack for a split second was when I first turned the machine on it just buzzed and nothing happened: the steam pump didn't work. I then tried to pump water and that didn't work either: I had not pushed the water container home properly. When I pushed the container in it worked straight away. I pulled the power lead out of the socket and left it overnight. The next morning the machine started to buzz when plugged the power lead in (I hadn't tried to turn it on at this point): so another mini heart attack. Anyway, I pushed the start button on the machine and it then took a long time for the red light to come on. After a couple of stops and starts and power off's at the power outlet it all became happy. The steam supply is scary it is so strong. The machine is also quiet when in the OFF mode. It sounds like you're from Oz: me too. Thanks again. 😀

Where did you buy the pump? I looked on Aliexpress but they don't have any with the two attachments in the video, only the main one

Hi Lee, I googled "Replacement steam pump for sunbeam em6910" and ended up here, www.elliselectricals.com.au/product.php?id_product=123 Bought one for $65 plus a few $ postage. I am in Australia, but I think you should be able to access something nearby wherever you are located........ worse case scenario, you could get international postage for about $10-$20 (small package) and still a lot cheaper than replacing your coffee maker. Good luck with it!

Great video on steam replacement,I try to add,once the pump is back in place,to test with side covers off to confirm no leakage from any piping/connection....caution with live innards though,if leaking found,first unplug power and tighten leaking pipes,power on again to confirm no leaking,power off/ disconnected.Replace all covers /screws etc,making sure no fittings/ screws remaining......job done,without leakage.

Did one of these yesterday on a different sunbeam model. Initially I thought, remove rivets. On closer inspection it was not necessary. The pump and fittings go through the rubber.

Hi mate, thanks for the info. you sound Aussie but you seem to have some Kiwi ingenuity built in. Mine wouldn't pump steam either, it hadn't been used for a while. After watching your video I knew what to undo, but all I did was pump a bit of descaler through the lines and left it turned on for an hour. Works a treat now without any replacement parts but my pump looked fine. Yours was obviously knackered.

Awesome video thankyou,had no idea how to fix this ,without your step by step procedure. So I will definitely give it a go when my pump does the same. Would be great to see a boiler replaced ,if you are able to fix someone's maybe .thanks again.

Thank you for the tuto. I've been buying a sunbeam machine 4 months ago to a nice couple of Australians. Right now I think I have a problem with the pump, since the machine receive every order I command, but I hear the pump making strange noises, and no water comes out de machine. No coffee thus. Nonetheless, i had cleaned it regularly with white vinegar, to use it properly. Unfortuntely, this had bearly no effects. By the way, I do suppose the problem may come from the pump, since there is no leaks, and all electronic components seem to be ok. Once I'll bring it back home I'll check it just like you did. I just'd like to know if your screwdrivers are particular. Thanks to yo: 1) for having made this interesting video 2) to answer me, if you had some free time. See you next!

Hey Mate Thanks for the video, unfortunately, I found it about 4 months too late. I had to replace my pump by trial and error, one word of caution is with regard to the Teflon tubes, they can be a bugger to refit and they will split and tear if you go too hard, then you will be up the creek. Nice Vid though................

Hi mate - great job. What is the name for the plastic pipe you pulled out after cutting the tie? I need to order that as I split it when trying trying to remove it - it was tightly stuck on. Thanks

Thanks so much for sharing the steam pump repair. I feel confident now I can fix my old machine. It looks a little tricky getting the zip tie on the bottom hose. Can the base be removed for better access?

can you remove the main pump without drilling out the rivets, since the bracket is made from rubber, maybe you can wriggle it out after pulling out the bottom tube?

Great video. My steam has just started acting up. Steam takes ages to come out. Pump makes normal noise then stops. Steam strong then backs off. Pump starts again. Etc. is this a blockage or the pump? Unit is only 15 months old and I only brew 5 coffees a week.

I have Krups Siziliana coffee machine. On this machine hot water and steam go through the same pipe, when I accsidentally tried to use steam before the machine heated up enough. Now i can only heard the pump inside, but no water or steam are going out. Do you know how to fix it?

Hello, Can you please help me identify one of the components on the main circuit board? look for L2 written on the board, next to the corner that is cut out. In between R3 and Z1/D5. You'll need to unscrew the black plastic that holds the board, and disconnect the cables beforehand.

Ian Harper when you open the rear door there is a little tool used to unblock the steam outlet used for when milk solids build up in the hole? Try this?

We only use it to make coffee, dont use the water or the steam nozzle.

Where did you get the pump from? I just had my machine start to fail, but I think its the other pump, as the pressure goes up and down through the grinds, the milk steamer is fine..

What were the symptoms of the coffee machine you were getting before replacement? Mine has a solid red light on the ready light, but everything works except for the steam. No steam at all, does not appear to try and steam. Have checked the micro switch (working) also.

@garfyw123
@garfyw123 8 лет назад
Thanks! It was. 1. Checked the micro switch worked (turned knob for steam with no water reservoir in, coffee machine will beep because it knows water is not there and it wants to turn steam pump on) 2. No blockage in steam system (blew some air thorough system) and no noise when steam pump started 3. Checked to see with multimeter that pump was getting 240v on and off when initiating steam pump (Take care!) 4. As per this video, replaced steam pump and it all worked a treat! Thanks for the great video!

I think it's either an inductor or capacitor. Mine blew up and can't find it
@nannasbodyguard

Hi, you can buy a Sunbeam Café Series Coffee Machine main PCB for EM6900 & EM6910 on Ebay for about $66 Australian
@crismih19
@crismih19 7 лет назад
I tried, they do not ship to USA. And Krups/Sunbeam USA doesn't have any left. can you please open yours up and take a look? if it's a capacitor, it will have make, model and rating (uF or color code www.elprocus.com/capacitor-color-code/) on it. same if it's an inductor (or this color code www.instructables.com/id/Inductor-Color-Code-Guide/).
