SUNBEAM or BRIGHTCORE Which is Better? - Fortnite Save the World 

Epic just needs make obsidian and brightcore better. If they made it so that the durability was boosted by 20% ( obsidian ) and 40% ( brightcore )from base and give the weapons 25% more impact will keeping all the other benefits people might actually use it. I just think that it’s a little bit of a waste to have too different upgrade paths when one is clearly better than the other. If epic buffs the obsidian path then it might become more of a play style choice rather than what is objectively better.

If you're going for a crankshot Zenith build with bunny jonsey in the support, Brigthcore is better because it triggers the crits more often, and results in about +22000 dps at around power level 90. It would be higher if you are 134.

I agree to a point. Unless I am in a 140-160 zone every weapon alongside my loadouts are overpowered for the zones usually one shot kills so in my experience the faster the bullets fly the faster the husks die. Have a good one, love the videos. I watch everyday, thanks for the great content.

The brightcore / sunbeam question is a paradox. 😅 Most people that ask that question are on the newer side. They are also not likely to have benefited from a glitch that has given them a surplus of sunbeam (directly or indirectly). I say, if you can get another of that weapon fairly easily then it's probably a good candidate for brightcore, then later make a Sunbeam version. Weapons that won't rotate back in for a year (or ever) are almost certainly best to choose sunbeam. The average player that plays the content as intended will be able to make 1 weapon that will allow them to acquire just enough materials to craft that weapon again by the time it breaks. Having brightcore in the earlier stages gives you the diversity to make more weapons to actually play the game. (This also brings up the issue of playing the game as intended being a deadend that is forever chasing material to craft items to get material to craft...etc) If that question is being asked at the vet level... Then the answer is Sunbeam (with the far edge case only being slightly better). That logic also doesn't apply to that one guy we always run into with 300k Sun and can't craft a single 130 yet...

I wish they buffed bright core and obsidian so that there is actually a reason to choose bright core and obsidian for example if making one of those weapons made the durability 500 or something like that I think that would be good for people dont really have the time to grind out the materials to craft weapons as often or if they had %20 more ammo or reload speed I think that would be cool because right now I'm just sitting on a pile of obsidian and bright core that I will never use because it's basically useless

I leveled up and tried out the Lead Sled. I think it's better than the Ground Pounder. I like it. Went with Crit and damage build. Increased attack speed on hits was my sixth perk. Didn't care much for its heavy attack, though.

I used to use brightcore for melee weapons and sunbeam for ranged weapons, but I don't do that now. Now I have two of almost each weapon with one brightcore and one sunbeam. I only supercharge the sunbeam versions of weapons apart from the xenon bow and I have a Supercharged version in both brightcore and sunbeam.

PSA for those lower level people... ALWAYS choose shadowshard and that will graduate into Sunbeam. Avoid obsidian on all ranged weapons

There is the issue of the calculations the game tells us on our schematics is for a single target, so weapons that hit multiple targets per shot are dealing much higher damage than the number on the schematic. I made two 130 vacuum tube bows, one brightcore and the other sunbeam. So the sunbeam one does hit for more damage per shot, but if I miss I want to be able to shoot again sooner. So in practice I definitely kill more with the faster fire rate. Also, it makes little difference in 140 and lower missions if I am doing more damage per shot if so many creatures are dying in one shot. On my only Xenon bow I made brightcore, and not once have I wanted to trade it into the collection book for sunbeam. About 5 or 6 people have traded me one of their sunbeam version for my brightcore just to try the difference, and I am very glad I went brightcore with mine. Maybe you are a perfect shot or use 3rd party software to never miss or something, but I prefer being able to miss and it cost me less time to fire again.

Sunbeam is always better for ranged weapons mainly assault weapons and brightcore has more durability but less damage but also higher attack speed so it can be good for melees but it comes down to preference

When i reached twine i was in a constant lack of shadowshard while osidian stacked up so i have one sword and one shotgun obsidian when i am out of shadowshard

The only reason I use both is that I want to use the mats somewhat equally so I don't run out of one or the other. So I have 2 shotguns, 2 AR's and 2 LMG's that are almost the same besides the fact I'm using one type of mat on one set and the other mat on the other set. I play mostly solo(in pubs) and I'm only at the early twine peaks. I dont ask for anything from anyone so if I run out then that's on me.

This is really helpful for me, since I just unlocked the ability to craft 130s and I happen to have a lot of sunbeam that random people have given to me, my only concern is now getting all my schematics fully maxed out to 130, which will take some time 😩

Great video as always! But another reason why I ( and some of my mates) slightly prefer brightcore is Monster Smash which helps me stay alive longer plus ofc like you said the dura :)

I am lucky to have all the weapons schematics. I use Brightcore/Obsidian versions of the Storm King's Fury, Thunderbolt, Husk Buster and Xenon Bow for easy Twine/Canny Valley mishes like Resupply, Eliminate and Collect, and Destroy The Encampments. That way I don't have to burn through my stash of Sunbeam!

I like how bright core gives better durability but I like how sunbeam does better damage wish we could like merge them or something

I make everything crystal if I have 1 copy and the other is core due expeditions at least for obsidian it helps not needing to grind resources as much.

One thing I'm missing in this video is the argument to use Brightcore for Defenders... Especially with having in mind that you basically pile up on Brightcore easier...

I remember there being an argument about brightcore for fodders and sunbeam for smashers. The argument was that, brightcore is more than sufficient for the normal/small husks, and we have 3 weapon slots, so 1 slot can be used for an all purpose fodder killing brightcore weapon.

Yeah I just say sunbeam unless it’s the fury because you get 1 extra swing for horn and who’s going to use the fury as a melee when you have the ravager and if they don’t have it yet they will eventually so it doesn’t matter

The third reason of using brightcore is if you have alot of it but not alot of sunbeam

I think brightcore, obsidian should be buffed, or equalised with sunbeam. It's just too one sided.

I have to disagree because of overkill damage. With slow shooting high damage guns theoretical DPS means nothing if husk dies in same amount of shots whichever material you are using. against smashers yes sunbeam is best, against trash mobs it depends on a gun. AR's are definitely better as sunbeam. Slow firing high damage shotgun like Thundershot? Nope.

Fun fact: a 144 Storm King’s Fury does the same damage to the horn as a 130 Storm King’s Fury.

Well I've messed up all of my schematics. Everyone of them is obsidian, and the reason why is because I saw the full green on Obi, compared to the shadowshard and was like, "Oh Obi is better because all greens compared to the reds shadowshard had." Also because this guy in my lobby had dropped me like 10k+ brightcore and I want some use out of it so, ok ig?

So yes, sunbeam has the best dps. But for me, not every weapon should be sunbeam. First is the balance issue. Having brightcore weapons will help balance rare crafting material usage. Second, each weapon may use widely different crafting materials depending on brightcore or sunbeam. Making a weapon brightcore could make a weapon craftable out of carved twine and blast powder while its sunbeam counterpart could require 30 efficient and 10 crystal. I think it can be good to have cheaper to craft weapons. Third, swing speed matters more with melee weapons. Sure, the sunbeam is dealing more damage, but the brightcore melee will feel good because fast swing speed is great. So my personal feelings in this is that when it comes to the best weapons in the game, they should be sunbeam. But there are many guns, some more fun than useable. Do you want to deplete your stacks of non duped efficient and crystal for a fun gun that was never about dps? It may not be an issue for some. And some people may only ever godroll 20 weapons and it will never matter. But if youre like me and have over 100 godrolled schematics, making every gun in the game sunbeam isnt the way to go. Each schematic has to be looked at and a few things considered. How often will i use this gun? What will it take to craft this gun if i go sunbeam or brightcore? Will slowing down the fire rate or attack speed make the gun less fun to use or would it this weapon benefit from being slowed down?

Also, the hero name could be different, maybe something like Sifi Ramirez Or Sifi Demo **(Standard PERK)**Enhanced bullets: This allows you and your teammates to walk and shoot through structures and husks.[You can walk through only the bottom of the floors, pyramids, and ramps. You can walk through walls from both sides but you can stand on it. The bullets/projectiles of launchers or explosive weapons(like freedom's herald) don't pierce through enimies] **(Commander PERK)**Enhanced bullets+: This allows you and your teammates to walk and shoot through structures and husks.[You can walk through only the bottom of the floors, pyramids, and ramps. I think pure numbers often don't reflect what actually happens IRL. If a husk has 100HP and my Obsidian bow deals 50HP per shot, I need two shots to kill it, right? Your Shadowshard bow does 60HP damage, but guess how many shots you need to kill it? That's right, also two shots. Meanwhile, my bow shoots faster and I've already moved on to the next target, dealing more DPS in the real world.

What about spectral blade? Is this the same situation as ravager?
