Hello again guys! I hope this build video serves you well, thank you for all of the questions and requests about this. They take a lot of work, but we do plan to release more build videos like this for the other weapons where possible - in my case, I'll be making one for Switch Axe very soon! I want to mention here that I didn't properly highlight WHEN to use the Elembane Decoration over Anti-Specific monster types. Elembane works when the monsters element weakness is 25 or higher, so, only use it if that's the case! Another note I regret not including is to do with Ironshine Silk, the new Silkbind attack of Dual Blades. Instead of running protective polish, you could try some handicraft, and then use Ironshine silk to maintain sharpness. All that is required is enough sharpness in purple to comfortably maintain purple using Ironshine, you might even find this better than protective polish but I personally think having to spend my wirebugs and DPS time swapping instead of doing DPS, not as worthwhile. Lastly, there's a seeming bug with Dual Blades and dereliction, I think this will be fixed at some point in a patch, so it's not mentioned! Use it while you can, if you want to. GL and HF in Sunbreak
Hey if you ever see this comment just wondering... What if you use nephilim vambraces and rhimgaurd greaves cause I was thinking this would help with having higher attack and add a Phoenix jewel+, because your using dual blades with constantly attacking u wouldn't need to deal with frenzy and you could get this one talisman with Furious +2 and then have infinite stamina.... Just thinking if this would be better or not than dereliction?
It might not be the best thing to use but I absolutely love the "Furious" skill at level 3 from the Furios Rajang gear. Gaining Infinite Stamina every now and then is just way to much fun with Dual Blades.
@@Demondaythedemon i almost never used Evade Extender before Sunbreak but dear gog it feels so nice in this almost regardless of weapon I have literally never taken it off my lbg builds and I'm slowly implementing it into my melee weapons
This felt like the guild master of an assassins' guild sharing tips for combat and it felt amazing! thanks a lot for the great video and all the hard work that went into this!
THIS is the kind of video I was looking for. Been a dual blades player since MHF2 and I just enjoy the math behind it all. The Raw, the element, affinity etc. wonderfully done Hollow and Josh
Great video! Looking to get back into dual blades and try out dereliction alongside blood rite. Will definitely be using this video as a base guide to start out. Keep it up!
As much as I am a fan of Lunagaron's claws, i've noticed Auroracanth's weapon hits significantly more elemental-wise, only downfall of it is it's low sharpness meter, which those decorations help with nicely. do with that information what you will. I appreciate the breakdown of the builds, it helped me out quite a bit. Ty
Same here! I'm glad to see these builds, but I'm also proud that I got pretty close to this myself, vs back when I started in world my dual blade builds sucked lmao.
@@draco4826 i been a monster hunter nerd since PSP freedom unite using Ad hoc to play with my friend that got me into it, every game has been a new adventure.
Just my opinion but for the elemental dual blades I would take I to account the 35% buff to element when in Demon mode since that is a reasonable enough assumption to have a high uptime. It wouldn't change most of your conclusions but for the ice it would favor the Daora or even the Auroracanth DBs more than the Lunagaron.
Our reasoning there is that some monsters have low element weakness, but much higher physical, so the better physical options that have good element still, such as Luna, wins VS Kushala win in these cases.
Weird question. But how do you know if a monster is more weak to physical than an elemental status? Like, how do you know when to use Luna DB over Kushala DB?
@@LaplaceBacklogs Was shown in the video, you can look at monster weaknesses in your hunting logs. I'd consider any elemental resist 10 and lower to be quite low, 10-20 average and above 20 quite high. Rajang having 30 head weakness to ice, you'd use Kushala.
It's just Min maxing for the sake of min maxing. It might save you a minute or 2, or even a few seconds to the kill/capture in the hunt. I'd honestly recommend Teostra's DB, and you also get some decent Blast along with Ice which is extra DPS when blast goes off, and has base affinity of 10% (making with WEX and CE, 100%) and a level 2 deco slot and lvl 2 rampage slot. Downside is 300 base attack, but sounds fair when you're getting 2 elements.
I never knew until recently that dragonheart got nerfed by like 50% also I feel your pain of not getting the narwa parts. I'm missing the thunder serpent orbs aswell and it took me half a day of farming to get a mantle from Rathalos to finish up a build
I also running DB build using final boss armor, and have couple solution for that hefty hp drain 1. There's a new dango that allow you to constantly recover your health, at lvl 4 using the jumping stick it can recover good amount of hp 2. Using the area healing scroll on your palamute equipment That 2 is enough to slow down the blood drain
Such a great moral boost for me to know that when it comes to element DB, Hollow and I were on the same wavelength. I *literally* made a element DB set almost identical to this, difference being the arms (I haven't gotten past MR 50 for Rajang...) and the talisman. And we both did the same thing when it came to having Dereliction on the build! I feel so validated as a certified DB main.
Just asking, The weapon in the Aeluvanth tree “Gila Ro Waga” wouldn’t be better than the Valstrax weapon for dragon? It has 3 jewel slot, 2 double and 1 single and a 3 rampage slot, 320 attack white with a little bit of purple and 44 dragon element
It doesn’t have purple unless you invest a lot into sharpness skills, too much to make it worth it really. Purple is a no go on them but they are still pretty good otherwise
This the build I came up with using the same armor/weapon and a different talisman. I used a Talisman with the 1 level 3 slot with Speed Sharpening Lv.2 and Evade Extender Lv.2. The Decorations I used the skills are the fallowing: Critical Eye Lv.7, Dragon Attack Lv.5, Critical Boost Lv.3, Weakness Exploit Lv.3, Critical Element Lv.3, Marathon Runner Lv.3, Speed Sharpening Lv.3, Chain Crit Lv.3, Evade Extender Lv.2, Resentment Lv.1, Constitution Lv.1 and Furious Lv.1
Is level 3 Chain Crit worth the slots? I saw a post saying the difference in damage between level 1 and level 3 is only about 10% increase. That would make it pretty negligible, and might be better to try and slot in something else instead.
I'm surprised you put so little emphasis on the Elembane jewel. That thing is absolutely nuts in the situation where it works. 30% more element damage against elemental hitzones of 25 or higher? Many monsters don't have that, but when you can hit it, oh boy does this thing ramp up your damage.
How are you dealing with stamina management? I was thinking of swapping attack boost for marathon runner, but I am not sure if that would be the best call
Thank you for these explications about this build like that I can have a better build now cuz I had the best damage build and elemental build before SUNBREAK
Help with which one is better? Fire Attack 5, AB 4, Agitator 3, resentment 3, CE 3, CB 3, WE 3, Cr Elements 3, Constitution 3, Chain Crit 3, Slugger 2, Wirebug Whisper 1 Or Fire Attack 5, AB 4, resentment 3, CE 4, CB 3, WE 3, Cr Elements 3, Constitution 3, Chain Crit 3, Slugger 2, Furious 1 So should i take Furious 1 over Agitator 3?
4:02 and that's why I'm just sticking with longsword for now until I get a god talisman for dual blades. Like I got a lvl 3 quick sheath with a lvl 3 slot talisman, how am I not gonna play longsword with a talisman like that?
so one minor thing for db with the new rampage slots with a level 3 you can get hellion mode so if you run that wex can be skipped for polish or other damage skill like crt elm or the very big one of elem exploit is also a very stong contender for that level 3 rampage slot
i feel lucky i have a talisman with attack 3 and a 3 slot and 2 one slots so i can do a hard ele jewel with 2 lvl 1 jewels for all my elemental just onn the talisman thank you god
I made a set using teostra dual blades with teostra's soul deco using armor skills Crit+7,WEX+3,CB+3,Blast+3,Teostra's Blessing+3,Crit Element+3,Stun resist+3, and flinch free+1 also my talismans has evade extender +2 with 2 level 3 slots which gives lots of damage and crit with comfy skills included 😉
Teostra’s Blessing 3, while a very nice QOL touch when applicable, is amazing but really, you only need to have it at 2. Teostra’s DB are my favorite and I feel like we’re probably running the same thing. Except I chose the dereliction path with the leg piece.
@@ItzMiKeKirbY I'm using teostra head, jelly chest, teostra hands and waist, tobikadachi legs. I was using this same set in high rank in base rise but now the MR version of the set gives +2 teo blessing on the waist instead of +1 like in high rank
@@noble61483 Yup, that’s exactly the same staple I had at base game, too! I decided to swap out Kadachi’s legs for the Dereliction leg piece because of the amazing jewel slots and, since all I minimally really need is 2 Teostra’s Blessing, I swapped out the hands for the Lagombi X ones. Then, I boldly decided to drop the Master’s Touch jewels and try out Ironshine Silk. I haven’t looked back since. I barely ever sharpen during a hunt anymore.
I noticed an error in your calculations that I wanted to share. You're adding the flat additions to raw and element attack (ex. the +8 from Attack Boost and +15 from Chain Crit) before applying your multipliers, but I don't think that's how it works in-game. I'm pretty sure it multiplies your weapon base damage using any stat multipliers (like the +6% from Attack Boost), then adds the flat stat additions, then multiplies again for sharpness and critical hits and whatnot. If I'm right, that means the flat increases aren't as valuable as your formula makes them to be - meaning maybe things like Chain Crit aren't as good as we think they are (granted, I can't think of another good damage-boosting skill and we've got the bandwidth, so it might not be replaced by anything, I just like knowing the math is right 😅). To test this, I looked at how Chain Crit changed my Status page. With just Chain Crit 3, hitting 5 times increased both my raw and my water by +15. I then added Attack Boost 7 and Water Attack 5 to see if the gain from Chain Crit would be amplified by their multipliers. It was not - 5 hits still just gave me +15 to raw and water.
Again, we'd have to be in pretty niche situations for this slight calculation difference to actually change what makes the "highest damage" build, but it doesn't hurt to be more accurate. Well, maybe it does. The math gets a lot less straight-forward 😅 Anyways. It's at least worth knowing because for me, I'm still deciding if I want Chain Crit or comfort skills, so it's good for me to know how far the Chain Crit is actually going.
I just started using db because furious interested me that much, I use dereliction 1 on the legs, divine ire mask and gloves, malzeno mail and coil. All my elements have crit eye 6 and wex 3 part breaker 3 razor sharp 3. Its really really cozy for those that don't like dereliction and want to keep health up as well as sever tails in seconds
Would be great if someone would post a mid game dual blades build for those of us still in the mid game aroun m20 not a single build video up is for mid game dual blades.
I'm curious. For the ice and fire set, if you decided to use the Kushala braces for the Kushala blessing for the extra ice damage or the teostra coil for the teostra blessing for the extra fire damage, would you loose out on dps compared to what you've got currently running? Asking to get a better understanding. I'm still learning how this all works. Thanks in advance!
am i just dumb- where are the non dereliction builds here? maybe i just wasn’t fully concentrating but i didn’t see any at all, can someone toss a time stamp for each element or some shit?
Great video. I have 1 question. When you do your elemental weakness example for the Ice build, it seems like you are saying a low number is a high elemental weakness. Meaning Great Baggi would be weak to ice. But it's actually the opposite, a high number means they are weak to ice. Great Baggi is actually immune to ice damage.
Would marathon runner or constitution on dual blades be more important? I made a set that gives up the attack boost but has things that are quality of life like hunter resistance and marathon runner but I’m unsure if marathon runner works with demon mode
@@kalynbinder5624 gotcha, I’m debating between that and constitution since the launch in the air and the spinning Levi move are affected by it and having both decreases the damage augmenting skills alot
@@nathanaelwilkinson7969 Honestly I would swap constitution and use marathon runner . Since you want to be in demon mode like forever and ever for max destruction
I would recommend that for Ice you should use Aurora Somnacanth's Dual Blades, as they have I believe 64 Ice damage (not even at rarity 10), and pretty decent everything else, as well as the Teostra Dual Blades, that not only have really high Ice (I think it is higher than bas Kushala, but not as high as Aurora Somnacanth) and really high blast, making it really good all around. For Thunder, I would also highly recommend Khezu, because yes it is about 10 or so less elemental damage, but it also has high paralysis, on top of having a lot more decoration slots compared to Narwa. Look at all of these, and consider which ones you prefer. Also as an honorable mention, the Shagaru Magalla Dual Blades work great when you are still trying to build you MR, to be able to fight MR Valstrax.
The thing with dual blades that have 2 elements/status is that the real number for the status or element is half of what is shown, since its 1 element/status per blade
They are not, though. If a pair of DBs has two elements or statuses (I'm sure this would apply to other weapons as well, though I don't recall any double element non-DBs) then the elemental/status value you see is actually halved, so, fun as they are, as interesting a design as they have, they are rubbish in comparison to Kush's DBs. Of course, you can use them if you want.
Your sets lack too many QoL skills, stuff like marathon runner and wirebug whisperer allows for extra DPS in the long run and you also lack sharpness management in these sets, speed sharpening does not count, unless you are running polish
No, modded Talismans will never be recommended by us. As I explained there's a lot of ways to work in a different talisman but get the same skills at the end However, from now on I'll be creating and showing builds based on a reliable 2-2-0 talisman for people to have an easier time visualizing what I meant
Me and my friend went through the entirety of Sunbreak, and throughout the whole playtrough, he only used dual blades and blast damage. The further we progressed the stronger his blast damage became. The buildup was faster, the explosion was stronger, and once he learned about silkbind attacks he just started nuking monster almost every other hit. His damage was so consistent that most monsters were staggered longer than they should be. He also said he would make the blast dual blades the meta for the weapon.
is there a reason you chose the lunagaron weapon instead of the auroracanth one for ice? autora got SUCH a massive element attack compared to luna, idk about the rarity 10 weapons as i havent gotten that far but is the sharpness worth the massive reduction in elemental dmg?
Great video... Idon't rly have the time and brain to make these kind of sets so it's rly nice when u have someone that kinda makes the work for you in a rly great way
Would the aurora somnacanth dual blade still be viable for an ice dual blades set? They have the 62 ice when fully upgraded but the sharpness is a bit lacking compared to the other options. Though ironshine silk should make the sharpness manageable
Think you awnsered your own question 😅 well in all honesty i think for ice its really up to personal preference if you want higher elemental go for it I'm sure it'll do fine
Thank you for making such an informative Video while keeping it relatively short and sweet! I actually run a Dereliction DB Build as well, but only the Legs of the Armor. Rest would be Malzeno Waist to manage the health-drain with the heal from attacking broken parts, as well as Heas, Shoulders and Torso from Astalos for the Chain Chrit. While it does not bring the same insane numbers, this is a bit easier to manage while still allowing for comparetively fast clears. Just in case anyone wants to try something a little different ^^
Just made 5 builds using this setup! Well most of it! For the armour itself i opted for the Malzeno arms for that 1 point of wirebug whisperer! The trade off for most of the sets its only 5 attack boost to 4 instead. And for the the thunder set up i actually opted for the Khezu duelblades instead just cause i like that paralysizzle.
I have two different ones, one extremely rough the other a bit easier. One having Derilict 3, Blood Lust 1, Wex 3, Crit boost 3, Crit Element 3, Evade Window 5, 5 Elemental attack, Blood Rite 2 for recovery. The evade 5 is my sharpness management and the other has derilict 3 gone and razor sharp 3 instead
@@spirit7537 Not at all :) Which version would you like the dereliction or not? I also swapped around a bit, the non deriliction now has bladescale hone 3 for max sharpness comfort on top of it, not a single sharpen with the Thunder DB during a hunt (I don't count the silkbind) and it kept on purple for all but half a minute maybe
Strongly recommend getting used to Dereliction on DB once you can eat for Super Dango Recovery and carry Gourmet Fish. The downside is nearly eliminated and the damage is VERY MUCH worth it. It took me a long time to be comfortable with the life drain, but I honestly don't even notice it now. I just stay in red scroll with Ironshine now, with Shrouded on swap for REAL stupid moves like Allmothers dragonator blender.
