Black artists aren’t forced to be solely or majorly inspired by other black artists. Truthfully, there aren’t a whole lot of black directors that are being taught in film schools.
@@WatchmenMedia who said anything about being forced? She’s Black. So some of her influences should be Black. IDGAF what you say. She spent damn near two minutes talking bout The Coen brothers who wouldn’t pay her ass any attention. Not to mention they rarely have Black actors in their movies but I guess that’s all good.Spike, Singleton,Lemmons, Van Pebbles, Barry Jenkins, Antoine Fuqua, Steve McQueen do not have to be taught in film schools. They are part of our culture.
@@amcra1 Art is subjective. And it shouldn't matter who inspires you as long as are inspired. As much as I love Lee, Coel, Dee Rees, Parks, etc etc. I am a big big BIG fan of Hitchcock and Tarantino. And as an animator and storyboard artist I learn from others. There are a lot of talented folks, i.e. Justin Chon, Tanya Saeacho etc etc Don't limit yourself to one exposure of creative collective.
@@amcra1 could it be possible that they didn't have alot of BIPOC directors/producers that they were exposed to early? All these influential creatives are fairly new in the history of Hollywood.
