Not only we as a family were poor, our country experienced two wars in one decade, inflation. Having a Zara bag 17 years ago - you were considered rich. My late mother got a Hugo Boss worn jacket when I was a kid, I still wear it to this day and today I can afford a lot. But those old items remind me of the times when we had 3 slices of ham to spread out over a week. Hungry, scared. I really appreciated your take and Lord knows you aren’t the only one 💕✨

When you choked up about your childhood...I did too. Our stories are similiar. I "leveled up" before it even had a name. Nothing wrong either one of them-Old money meaning someone in their family worked so so hard to achieve their goal and able to sustain for decade to come for their children or grandchildren-still grandchildren continue on that path. Remember we all come with nothing so we leave with nothing.

I don’t think it’s necessarily the “white” demographic, it could be for you, I don’t want to negate your experience at all, but as a white person, I experience “old money” people clutching their pearls and side-eyeing me as well like I just don’t fit in. In my opinion it is just anyone who is jealous and trying to keep luxuries exclusionary. It can also be crab mentality from our own people as well which is a shame. Thank you for watching!
