I read an article last night that their travel department will start opening in phases as early as this month (select cities)...and if all goes well, Oct. 1st will see a full opening (to same five cities -Pattaya among them). If that's the case, enjoy your trip to the fullest!!
It's different in the country vs the city. I've seen people grab strangers off the sidewalk to come and look at the American (me) eating Thai food in restaurants. Thais get a real kick out of seeing foreigners that will eat spicy. Many foreigners only eat fried rice and other dishes that are not spicy.
I'm hoping the Phuket Sandbox plan set for July 1 does not get delayed ... I can stand hanging out on Phuket for a week with a friend since I will not have to endure quarantine.

Its disheartening a bit to see sad foreigners with Thai sexworkers just going through the motions of interest in their marks. I can understand how they may dislike their work and smiling and smiling for their ‘johns’ or customers but then, that’s why prostitutes don’t appeal to me without some sense of emotional connection-even a faked effort might be appreciated. Its all kinda sad

It's a public place, so he doesn't need consent. If he followed people and kept filming them that would be an intrusion, but to just film a street scene isn't a problem. Kids should be off limit. It's social documentary of a kind, though of little interest to me except to confirm that I am happy not to be in Pattaya.
