It's a beautiful sermon, but the volume is too low.

Even as I respect this homily I am greatly troubled by this story.

Why be troubled?

@@truckingroadrunner8853 I am no biblical scholar but there is a glaring problem with this homily that I would have preferred to not address but I would question of the homilist. Today's (5/11/24) gospel reading is from John16:23-28 where our Lord says "Amen, amen I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name He will give to you. In the homily, the story related is that a woman who loves her husband, is obviously desperate and greatly distressed, and prays for his recovery from illness and asks a "holy monk" who has the reputation of being able to help people in tragic situations. The monk reacts in anger and - relying on the story we are told - accuses the wife of "dictating against God's will." This alone is a false accusation. I most cannot judge anyone, however, the response of anger and condemnation from the "holy monk" seems to be uncharitable to say the least, if not cruel, and evil act, although it is true that God has His own plan, and, the sick man returned to God. Of course we must accept the will of God. But we are told by our Lord that we may ask God for His help. Even our Lord asked that this cup be allowed to pass. I do not understand this story as told.
