I use this and love it! I double cleanse, tone and then put this on, nothing else after it. It has made my face look brighter the next morning. It is expensive so I'm not sure if I will buy it again, I only use it 3x a week so the bottle has lasted me a couple of months.
Hi!! I have not seen your videos a while due to working about 80-100 hrs per week for the past few months 😤 but I'm back and I see you are doing great!! You have so many views so happy for you and you look great!! 😊
It made my skin look absolutely fabulous and helped prevent acne but I wouldn’t say it’s an EFFECTIVE retinol. For those who said it doesn’t sink into your skin, rub the oil between your finger tips and then press it into your skin. Overall, this oil isn’t worth the price so I won’t repurchase it but it isn’t BAD per se.
Ever since hearing about how Sunday Riley faked reviews (Sunday even wrote fake reviews herself lol), I've had a real a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to this company. I didn't find this retinol effective at all. Plus I found it very oily. It seems very easy to put active ingredients into oils but if you want to layer products, too many oils becomes problematic on the skin. Suddenly you feel like you have a layer of mayonnaise on your skin. I prefer active ingredients in anything but an oil. Saw your review on Paula's Choice 1% retinol and I tried it. I loved how effective it was and how it felt on the skin. Easy to layer. The Luna sleeping oil isn't layer-friendly.
Every single time I think about the fake reviews I still have to shake my head and wonder what the heck she/they were thinking?!?! I also can't believe anyone wouldn't realize that word would get out, I mean, it's impossible to keep anything a secret. I think that a lot of people passed off the fake reviews because they know so many other huge companies (Sephora....) Are doing the same thing, but that doesn't make it right. It's annoying to me that probably 95% of all beauty reviews at retailers, brand sites, on RU-vid, and instagram are all fake or doing it quid pro quo.
I’m using Luna oil for 2 weeks now and I’m loving it. It has definitely helped with my breakouts and my skin looks amazing the next day. I don’t even use any toner or anything else before or after applying it and with this oil i feel like i can cut down a lot of steps. Definitely would be repurchasing this.
The Luna works great with a more simple skincare routine. When my skin gets on the drier side I'll include it in my routine and it does a great job boosting hydration. I understand why so many people love it!
I have oily combo skin and somehow Sunday Riley's products agree with my skin a lot. I cannot live without Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment (I am in Europe and the lactic version is banned in EU). Now I am combining it with Luna and I am very happy with the results. However, 3-4 drops are enough. More than that just sits on top of my skin. Also I have tried using tretinoin products in the past and they irritate and dry my skin out so much that I cannot use anything else with them. As a result my skin gets deeply clogged but dry on top. I like such formula in oil as it is not drying the skin out so much and it is not super aggressive and can be combined with other active ingredients at the same time. Thanks a lot for the reviews! ;)
So happy you found the review helpful! I've tried Trretinoin in the past and had the extact same result- and my skin just felt SOOO dry whereever I used it. I'm guessing you probably can't get Differin (Adapalene) where you live? I've found it to be very helpful for clogged pores but didn't experience any of the dryness.
@@NOBSBeauty, I am in Bulgaria and I order most of my skincare products online from the UK. Only recently I see that The Ordinary, for example, stepped in on the market in my country which is a shame. I will check now if I can find a place to order online what you have suggested. Thanks a lot for your fast answer! ;)
Yeah. I did live the oil but got in a box and wouldn’t repurchase due to dyes. I used it with Her A+ serum and I couldn’t use the both for more than 3 days without tender feeling on face. I don’t see my skin as sensitive but retail is no joke in any form ... know your skin
There are few things more frustrating than when your skin has had it's limit of actives and Retinol. Earlier this year I overdid it and I had done serious red patches of burnt skin. Certainly not fun at all. I'm also kind of annoyed by the dyes, especially when they turn my pillowcase blue, I think I'd prefer dye free any day.
Luckily nothing so severe but I seem pretty sensitive to retinol.. I can only use two three times a week and it does work well. I had amazing result with a Moss peptide serum but it’s over $200. Can you recommend a great peptide... my 11s even diminished. I don’t support Sunday after her fake review crap. I’m currently using African Botanics serum gel, oil and mask... all from Boxwalla sub box over period of time. I did get that Peach and Lily glass serum but using up because using up older products... will I repurchase this brand? Heck no at prices like $180 for a mask but I sure am tempted for the Moss one!!! Hope the puppy is on the mend.
Isn't it just the most awesomest sh!t eva??? Using for 2 years now..my skin is kick @ss and I get so many compliments! I get mine from India, so cheap, incredibly effective. Can't recommend it highly enough!
@@MilyxxMily I get my Tretinoin (Retin A) from India. Very cheap. Look up ReliableRX Pharmacy. com. They ship to anywhere in the world. When you order, it will ask for your script-just ignore, they send regardless. They make it for J&J, so quality is excellent..cost about $10 a tube plus $15 postage, sobuy a few at a time to make the postage worth it.
I hate that it has the blue dye in it… not necessary. If someone uses retinol containing products they should know not to use in daytime so no need for the dye
I never thought I'd be able to use any retinoids or retinols since I have super sensitive skin. A few years go I suddenly started getting dark frecklish spots on my face particularly around my upper lip eventually discovered it was Melasma and sun damage. I tried Luna when I got it as a sample and on the 3rd day I walked by a mirror and had to turn around to go back. The melasma on my top lip was gone completely, It had vanished overnight. I have never had that quick of a transformation before and it has stayed gone. I think Luna oil is amazing.
I think I am just coming to terms that this is a holy grail for me. I no longer question the formulation, my skin just loves it. I often experiment in skincare and tweak my regime but when all else fails (when I screw up my barrier) I treat myself to a bottle of LUNA and viola just like that my skin in even toned, smooth, radiant and supple. I think I stray due to the cost, BUT at the end of the day it does never fails me.
This won’t help today (and you may not want the other product), but I find that buying this product in the power couple mini set during an Ulta sale is the best way to go. It is paired with Good Genes, which is actually the product I started buying the set for (I also have several of the mini set with good genes and ceramic slip- it’s also a nice little set for $12.50 on sale). The set has been 50% off two or three times this year, and I like the little bottles because I have tons of oils and retinols and can just open a 5ml bottle and not worry too much about being sure to use it often/before it loses effectiveness. The Go to Bed With Me set that Ulta and Sephora sell also looks like a good deal, but I think the power couple mini kit at half off makes this product almost as affordable as any drug store retinol oil.
It makes me sooo mad that they add dyes and fragrances to their overpriced products, it's just so gimmicky, imo. For that reason I've always avoided SR.
I really wanted to hate this product due to the negative PR but I received some in a gift set. Oddly my skin is a lot smoother and this is the only thing I’ve added to it (along with Good Genes)
Lots of people swear by Luna, but it stung my face like anything. I’m guessing that was from the essential oils. I haven’t used intense Retinol, but I can slather on The Ordinary 2% Granactive Retinoid Emulsion (equivalent to .2% retinol) with no irritation, so I doubt it was the retinol that bothered me.
RaAja - no dryness or flaking. I’m sensitive to essential oils and the stinging is typical. You might like the Ordinary Granactive Retinoid. From what I hear, most people don’t experience “retinizing” with it. I use the emulsion because I don’t like Squalane. The Granactive Retinoid is a newer formulation that is generally less irritating. There’s not a lot of research yet about efficacy, and I would not say you should expect dramatic or quick results. Some people use the Granactive as a stepping stone to stronger retinol. I’m so prone to irritation that I’ve decided that’s enough for me.
Zarza Mora - Kiehl’s doesn’t offer a retinol. Because my skin is sensitive to fragrance, I personally would not use the Murad or Origins, especially the origins which has a ton of citrus in it. In that general price range, I would look at Paula’s Choice, which Sarah frequently mentions as a favorite.
I think Luna is a great beginner retinol. I currently use it on top of the A+ retinol for a double dose and haven't had any problems doing that. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to make a change. I recently found out that the A+ has Alcohol in it. It's pretty far down on the ingredient list, but still, alcohol in an $85 retinol product? I would love to see a review on the A+, if for no other reason than to spread the word that it contains alcohol. I was beyond pissed when I discovered this. I know it's my responsibility to check ingredients, but I never expected to find alcohol in any of their skincare. There's no excuse for the bad alcohols to be found in skincare, it's completely possible to formulate without it and it makes me not want to use any SR anymore. Alcohol is the number one ingredient that will immediately turn me off on a skincare brand.
Sunday Riley is super hit or miss for me, I'm just never quite sure how their products will work for me and there's no rhyme or reason. Thankfully the alcohol is far down the list, but I'm like you and I prefer to avoid alcohol whenever I can. It's just not great for skin, especially dry and sensitive skin.
I love this stuff. I haven't seen a major improvement in fine lines. However, i am usually acne-prone, and Luna + good genes on top several times a week really helped with skin texture, redness and breakouts. Wish i could still get it in my country. I'm gonna have to smuggle it in some how lol Thanks for the video!
It always amazes me how different skin care products are regulated from country to country. Part of me thinks, just let the people decide what they want to use and how they use it. Then part of me thinks some company would come out with a 10% Retinol and people would get their faces burned off. 🤔🤔
I didn’t like this product I felt like it never sunk in and I had to change my pillowcase every night even if I used a little bit of it. I like the Peter Thomas Roth retinol oil it soaked in and seem to work great.
That is the same issues I've noticed, when I apply it alone or layer it, either way it feels like it never gets absorbed fully. In the morning I still notice little streaks of blue dye. 🤷
I have enjoyed Jordan Samuel skincare retinol oil. No dyes, no essential oils., and half the price. I’ve tried pestle and mortar also that I prefer to this. I do love Sunday Riley Juno oil. No EO... thanks for your review 👌
It is interesting, when I shop online I pretty much only buy skincare, but when I shop in store I always end up buying makeup and get distracted by shiny, pretty things. On my computer I can analyze a product and the shiny pretty things don't distract me. Makeup looks and works so much better when you have healthy skin to apply it to. 😀😃
Hi there sis 😊 I gotta catch up on the last couple days!! This Luna.... Gurl back in the day this was my JAM!! till I discovered the real thing Retinol ( generic one tretinoin) Never looked back!! I'm looking for that one u use... Paula's choice 1% Retinol night cream (on mercari app) or a coupon code lol Psssssttttt OMG that video u did was epic I left u a bunch of messages.... U ought to do that again (editing) I was dying 🤣🤣🤣😆😂😂😂😂😂😜❤❤❤❤🙏💯🤗🤗🤗🤗😘😘😘😘😘😍😍😍😍😊
I agree, the edits were so fun, I need to figure out a way to do them again. So many things so little time! I swear four of my six dogs have each been to the vet once in the last month, 🤦

It seems that everyone who see essential oils in a skincare product think it is used for fragrance. However, some essential oils have been shown to have therapeutic effects on the skin. Blue tansy is supposed to have calming properties on the skin. So perhaps those essential have been added for their other benefits rather than their “fragrance” properties.
You bring up an extremely important point! I tend to like Blue Tansy for me, but I'm sure some, maybe many, are sensitive to it. You're right, many of the EO's have actual proven benefits. I think each person needs to decide for themselves on if the benefits outweigh the potential downsides with each EO. Some can work well for others, and some not so much, really depends so much on the person and their skin genetics.
No BS Beauty Is there any scientific literature to support the proven benefits of EO? I have always been taught that it is mainly fragrant and is sensitising when applied topically. I have seen my mother use EO on her face of many varieties and she tolerated them well but they gave her no benefits.
I really like SR Luna. I received a small vial in a beauty box (the one on the left in her video) and it has lasted me for months using it 2-3x/wk. I have already ordered a larger size. I alternate days with my tretinoin, which can be quite drying. This has never irritated my skin. To the contrary, it is calming, smoothing, and brightening for me. Really good stuff!
I actually really like this I use Paula's Choice 1% retinol 3 times a week and luna on the other days. My skin can handle this better than my 1% since this is a lot lower concentration but that's fine with me. My only issue is that I feel like it doesn't fully absorb into my skin maybe its the oils in it Who knows but my skin looks brighter and overall nicer the next day
I totally understand what you mean, the Luna has more of a tendancy to sit on top of my skin and even by the time I wake up I still feel that residue feeling. Although I like that it is very hydrating and my skin feels nice and soft when I use it.
I just put this on first time and I hate it the smell is horrible and it's turned my skin blue I hate the color and smell it may be effective but I hate the color
It takes a few tries to get used to the texture, I still have not been able to work it into my morning routine. It does a great job in my evening routine though. 😄
Luna oil is such a massive price for a product that needs to be used consistently for a very long time-can be up to 2 years before you see a visible difference! After starting off with The Ordinary's Retinol, I then began to purchase the 'Big gun", Retin A, very, very cheaply from an Indian online pharmacy. Costs about $8 a tube and the tube lasts me a couple of months. My skin looks better at 44 then it ever did in my 30's!! Just don't see why anyone would spend this kind of money on a retinol product, when a far more effective option is just so much cheaper?
I’m using the Good Molecules night oil , which come to think of it is probably a dupe of this. But I can’t afford the Luna to see if I like it better anyway.
Hi I am trying a sample of Luna tonight and I don’t like the blue color either. Weird! It feels like anyone of my face oils before bedtime. Glad I listened to your video. I’ll use up the sample and go from there. 😆👍💕
Now I’m not really sure I should have gotten this. Mixed reviews and a better product choice has made me doubt this SR oil I’ve used several of their products and none of them have been anything special. I think I’m going to start trying the stuff from The ordinary. It’s cheaper by a landslide has some pretty good reviews. Hopefully they are real reviews 🤣
Having tested as many products as I have, I have come to the conclusion that price generally is not an indicator of quality and effectiveness. There are always some exceptions, but I've found the truth always is shown in the ingredients list. There are trash products for $300+ and great products for $30 and less. Some of the more expensive brands are just terrible, just my opinion. I really wanted to love this oil, but there are great ones for 1.4 of the price. The Oil is decent, but nothing totally special, like you mentioned.
No BS Beauty I have bought the Sunday Riley sulfur mask, the green gel toner. I was disappointed really bc it was nothing like I expected. Like you said just bc it cost a whole kidney to purchase don’t mean it’s better than the less expressive products. I’m low key kicking myself for purchasing the Luna face oil. I have a feeling it will also not be as great as I had hoped. Thanks for responding. 😊😊 I am a new sub. I enjoy watching you bc you talk about what you’re video is titled not just focus on dreams and talk trash about other RU-vidrs. It’s quite nice to actually watch a video about skin care and it actually be just about that. Honestly it’s a hard quality to find these days I admire that you’re trustworthy. Love you videos
So very glad to have found youre channel, I felt like this product was oily and didnt get better with time..I will finish what I have but doubtful that I will buy more. Happy Thanksgiving All~
So glad you found me here- some people absolutely love this, and for many it's a miss. Even with my super dry skin it feels like it takes forever to absorb and then it leaves my pillowcase pretty blue...
I tried using this for a bit until I learned a lot more about retinols, ingredients ect; I did not like this product however, I felt it did give me clogged pores and I realized it was from the EO’s in it and I didn’t think it was worth the money because while I used it, it did nothing for me. Thanks for reviewing it.
I think for some people who haven't used Retinol products before they might notice a difference, but anyone who has used Retinol, tretinoin, etc will probably be left unimpressed with it. Especially for the price.....
So happy to see you reviewing Sunday Riley!! I’m such a fan. I do Good Genes then Luna over it, sooooo nice! You should do Good Genes next, you’d love it!
I was just rewatching this because I got Luna in an Ipsy box and wanted your input before starting it. You mentioned gluten being a problem for some people in skincare but I have 2 others that REALLY need someone to get information out about them *hint hint you hint* 😂 Here’s the info. Both MSG and Sodium Nitrate/Nitrite are migraine triggers in food for many people including myself. I found out the hard way those ingredients can absolutely trigger migraines when used topically in skincare. I would never have dreamed either of those would be in skin products and the first time I ran into it I was new to using skincare and not reading labels yet. I ended up actually admitted to the hospital with a migraine so violent it had me dangerously dehydrated and my blood pressure was in stroke zone. Nobody gets admitted for migraines! Anyway, the culprit ended up being an Anatomicals face mist that had msg. I would never have thought to look but my sister picked up the bottle and randomly saw it in the inky. Philosophy has products with msg and First Aid beauty has a serum with Sodium Nitrate. There are others but those I remember offhand. If you decide to look into this and need help I’ll be happy to look up the exact product names for you. I bet there are many many people out there suffering, thinking they are in a cluster when it’s skincare. Migrainers are used to reading food labels for triggers but I don’t think many of us would dream to check our beauty products.
Oh wow, I'm so sorry to hear you've had issues with these ingredients! I've definitely had migraines from certain food ingredients but never knew that some people could get this from Skincare. When i stopped to think of this it does make total sense. I know caffeine is another ingredient where people can have issues with it being absorbed through the skin so this makes sense from Sodium related ingredients. It always goes to show that Skincare can be a very big deal and How everyone should be educated with anything they use because of bigger complications that we might not even be aware of. I hope you never have to deal with this again, goodness knows there's so many migraine triggers we already have tu be aware of let alone thinking about our Skincare products. 🙏🙏
Thank you for bringing this up. As a long term migraineur this was never on my radar! Surprised and shocked to think that some skincare formulators think it's necessary to include monosodium glutamate or sodium nitrate. Of course, the dose makes the poison but there are so many questionable ingredients in skincare products these days.
I have been using this for about 5 months and really like it. I am surprised that I do, since I am pretty sensitive to many things. I layer it over their A+ retinol cream and love that it absorbs so quickly into my skin. I agree it absorbs more quickly than the marula oil, at least in my experience. It is very pricey though, which is a drawback lol 😆. Thank you 😊
I'm pretty impressed you've been able to use both the A+ and the Luna Oil together, so many people said that the combination was too strong for them, but I think if you can use them together it might be more effective in the long run.
