Max, check out the BBC Scotland Sunday Show. A Conservative MSP was interviewed and was led into an excellent trap by starting to discuss the court striking down the Scottish gender recognition act. The MSP went on a rant that the Scottish government should accept the result and move on. The interviewer immediately came back with, like the Westminster gov have accepted the Rwanda decision. Hypocrisy 101, excellent

An independent Scotland that's an EU member would have such a massive impact. Therre would be a hard to police land border with the EU, which would force us to have to negotiate better relations. The North of England would become the nexus for trade, which would draw commerce up to Newcastle and possibly Carlisle. Edinburgh could replace London in its Brexit sacrificed position as English speaking gateway to Europe (if Dublin hasn't already taken that role). It could actually be a very fortunate thing for what's left of 'United' Kingdom.

And Farage's wife is German and often speaks to her daughters in German. That would be fun on holiday with Nigel.

I'd LOVE to have *Tennis Pitch* where I live. Sadly, whilst there are tennis courts, and even a football pitch, there is no tennis pitch - not as yet, at least. Not even Wimbledon has a tennis pitch yet. No wonder the nation is lagging so far behind the rest of the world...

Can't say I agree with prof Wilson on religious studies being equivalent to STEM. His entire speech justifying this position (why on earth include a reason as lame as the street you might walk down being named after a saint?) was not about the scrutiny of religion - but about perpetuating reverence for religious symbols by saturating society with them.

A great problem for Scotland to join the UK alone is, for example, regional countries such as Spain who'd be horrified at allowing a part of a country in as it might set off their own country splitting up. I taught English in Spain to give democratic ideas to my pupils then under Franco in 1967. Spoke with so many Spainards on the regional nature of Spain many hundreds of time. Spain will not welcome Scotland for this reason. The Balkan countries will not like it I'd say after ten years living in Greece & travelling through the Balkans. Italy, Belgium with others will have the same objections. Then 75% of Scotish goods goes to the UK. Doesn't look great for Scotland joining the EU to me. I fancy it'd be more successful if we All work at getting back into the EU.

I sense that Tetchy Titchy Rishi will get the push soon after Christmas. If Bone's seat is lost at by-election, it'll be very soon after.

The idea that we have to adopt/accept that our society is defined by its (Christian) religious iconography is crazy. Should commonwealth countries also accept the iconography of the empire and dominant religion imposed on them? Things change and we need to leave behind the idea that we are defined by our forefathers ideas and move to a secular and more embracing culture.
