Wait a second. Slick motion graphics open. Excellent use of natural light from the window for your on camera intro. Written VO with smooth delivery. Nice edits and transitions with a music bed. You aren't just some random mom and pop!
Hello! We are very flattered by this comment, more than we can say - thank you! 😊 No not quite a random mom and pop - Dale has been in show business his whole life, and it turns out I have a way with words lol (I write the voiceover scripts). Our son makes videos for a living, and he gave us some great advice on gear, editing software, and so on, to get us started. The rest has been learn-as-you-go, and 3 1/2 years in, we have sure learned a lot!
I'll be at the GN in April for the highland games. They made me an offer I couldn't' refuse: $49 room w no resort fees! If you're coming to the games, which are 4/9-10, let me know which day and I'll buy you a dram. Penny loved the Nugget! She didn't like the big hotels on the Strip, but the Nugget was perfect size and had everything she wanted. Nice rooms. Great - and I mean great - pool. Terrific casino. She liked that the GN, Binions, and the California Club were old school. And, of course, people watching on Fremont Street. She had so much fun and I have so many wonderful memories of the times we stayed there. Nice wins, Dale! I've never had luck like that. Penny did, but not me. You need to tell me what I'm doing wrong!
Hey there Bob - I love when you share memories of Penny, particularly when they took place in Las Vegas. :) I imagine that's part of why you keep coming back - to remember all those great times! Everything she liked about Fremont are the same things we like. As for the Highland Games, I am thinking Saturday the 9th, probably. We will stay in touch about that meetup and dram - not gonna miss it this time!
@@paulamckenzie Sounds good to me. When it gets a little closer just let me know where/when and we'll meet up for a long overdue greet! Love you guys and what you do.
Dale, you are a true real man. Thank you for showing us it’s ok to show vulnerability as men. Great message in the end …& I will be checking out Golden Nugget!
As an older couple that has lived in Las Vegas longer than many of the other Vegas reviewers have been alive, you always do a great job on the vids. no hype, all class
A very nice vlog. My husband and I just got back from the Golden Nugget the first week of March. We always go there and I get my room comped every time and I am not a big gambler! I am so happy you reviewed Vic and Anthony's. I have always thought about going there but maybe we won't. Usually go to Hugo's for our steak fix. I also won on a video poker machine with a royal flush. That made my week! So happy to hear you won THREE times. How great. Thanks for your ALL your hard work in making these vlogs. I enjoy watching each and everyone of them. Take care.
Fun staycation🍀🎉👍😻. I told Vegas Visuals, that you met Robert Urich. He’s working on a Vegas tv show feature, With episode. Hey Dale, you know they have blackjack out there. I luv gin & tonics. Cheapest gin & tonic is casino royale. Lol🍸🤠😎
We like the Golden Nugget. We always book the Rush tower. The Four Queens next door has the best Bloody Mary’s which is how we start our mornings out when staying downtown. Ice Bar is disappointing because they don’t have Blue Cheese stuffed olives for their martinis. We’ll be back in Vegas a week from tonight but at the Venetian. The good news is that dinner Sunday night is at Oscars. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE Downtown Vegas, that was my grandparents favorite place to be ❤ now I'm re living it with my husband just like them. We will be there next weekend
I think this pool deck looks more inviting than The Circa mega pool area. I think I appreciate cozy & gorgeous more than loud & lively as I gracefully age. Would love to buy you both a G & T as I sip a vodka martini and we enjoy people watching!
You said this very well, and I have to agree, wholeheartedly. I remember we stayed at Excalibur, it had a similar pool deck, smaller, more intimate, but very lovely, and we felt totally comfortable and at home there. This one at GN was the same - we just needed it to be a bit warmer! Thanks for the offer of the G&T, hope we can take you up on it! :)
Thanks for another great video. Even though the pandemic brought rough times for everyone, it's great how venues such as RU-vid helped us get through it. That is when I discovered your videos and have been a faithful follower every week.😊
When I stayed in 1985 at the four Queens we went into the golden Knight and yes that was awesome that casino was completely awesome so I understand why you made this video
Thanks for the honest and informative review of the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino and its dining choices. Coming from Paula, I trust her opinion especially when it comes to food. We stayed at the Rush tower and loved our visit. The food though, it was okay.
You know, if I had that to do over again, and knew more about the property, I would have booked the Rush tower, spent time there, and had dinner at Chart House or Saltgrass - next time!
Always good to see my favorite las vegas couple......so funny that band you named( blue string something) isaw 4 years ago in a local las vegas casino ( forgot the name but it has beautiful glass in lead surroundings)
The room looks really nice. I love the decor. We’ve wanted to try this place out for awhile. That pool with the aquarium always grabs my attention when walking by. It’s great that they have an adults-only pool. We really appreciate your thorough coverage of the property and surrounding Fremont street area, as well as an honest review of the restaurants. You sure fit a ton into this staycation. Oh, and amazing win on Keno!
Golden Nugget looks fabulous. I am so happy that the downtown casinos/hotels are still around, and hopefully, doing well. Dale, I am glad to hear that Lady Luck visited you three times that day. Wow! Sorry to hear that your dinner wasn't as good as it should have been for the price. I wouldn't be too happy if that happened to me. Thank you both for another excellent video! And Dale and Paula, you don't know how much your videos help all of us through the rough times!!
I would say, based on my recent visits to downtown, that it is doing extremely well! It is packed and thriving! And thank you, Mike, for saying such a nice thing about us and our videos...so many of you are sharing that with us, and I will just say, we are honored.
I was just in Vegas with a group of 13 ppl. and we stayed at the Tuscany inn and suites. It was really nice. I have stayed at the Nugget for 4 times and yes that pool is amazing ( in the summer time). Thanks for sharing the info about the speakers. Our group rode the duece bus downtown on a Wednesday night. It was packed and it was LOUD. I love the music stages but the light show and music was a big distraction with all the new speakers. I'm not that old(60) but it was annoying loud for me. The Nugget was packed and like Paula said, it is old Vegas vibes.
We have friends from CA (a family with two teens) who stay at Tuscany every time they visit. You get a lot for your money there! As for the volume of the music along Fremont…totally in agreement with you.
The GN used to be my go-to hotel for about 15-20 times in Vegas. The issue is what you pointed out - it is MOBBED! It got so crowded, that searched out other venues to stay (I usually go in the summer - it's crazy). VIP Check-in is a MUST (I was a member of Private Arrangements and Landry's Select (first year) and they gave VIP free (not anymore). Check-in can take over an hour in line. I agree with Vic & Anthony's - didn't live up to the hype for us either. In fact, our server was very pretentious. That set the mood for us. I'm really surprised you didn't show more of the property - since there is so much more. However, I can truly understand that it would be hard to record when it's crowded. One steakhouse - and it's re-opening later this month - is Binion's Steakhouse -- my favorite to be honest. Amazing views and great prime rib (last time I was there was 2019 - so how it will be when it opens again - who knows). BUT - Binion's Steakhouse would be a good video. As I've said before - love your channel - it takes the edge off of not being in Vegas.
Well, dang! The Bud Lights are on Dale! 😆 I'm so glad you had such a wonderful staycation. That steak house looked so inviting, and the food was classic. But you were honest about the food, which I really appreciate. 👍👍
Better hurry up and claim that Bud Light before he puts those winnings into another machine!! As for the honesty...we just felt compelled to go outside and talk about it, and then we left it in, for you to see.
Love the true reflections on your dining. Love the Nugget. It was my very first Vegas stay and wonderful memories. Your story tell is so inviting Dale. It takes right where you are. And the beautiful Paula with her insight bring it all together. Thank you for this extended tour. I loved it. Russell in Tucson, AZ
Great staycation video! I like how there is no "going Hollywood" for Dale--whether he's eating at a snack bar or a 5-star restaurant, he sticks with his Bud Light! I may have said this before, but in the two years I've been watching your videos I've come to the conclusion that Dale's two favorite types of beer are Bud Light and "free!"😂Please keep the content coming.
Well Buster, I had to read this out loud to Dale - and he is flattered that you "get" him! He doesn't change his stripes, no matter what situation he finds himself in. But, he really only has one type of beer, and it's Bud Light. He'd pass up free, and pay for a Bud Light! :)
I absolutely love your videos. You offer so many interesting details. Also enjoy and appreciate your honest restaurant reviews. We’re going to back Vegas in August. Although most of our stay will be on the Strip we are going to stay one night on Fremont. It was great being part of your Golden Nugget visit. Thanks again for an awesome Sunday morning video. Fun way to start the day ! Also congrats on your big wins! Keno is by far my favourite game and the horse race is always fun.
Thanks so much, Donna, for tagging along on our GN staycation - we are glad you like all the little details. I used to avoid Fremont, never go down there; but since the vlog, I've been there a lot, and I really like it. Different from the Strip - both have their perks - but lively and fun in its own way.
Thanks Folks ! Looks like it was another Great Staycation ! The Golden Nugget looks great ! Thanks for posting another great vlog ! You're right Dale ! We are all gonna be okay ! Cheers, Rudy
Great video Paula and dale. We will be there April 10th through the 15th staying at the four Queens we have stayed at all the old casino and we love them y'all have a great night and I can't wait for more videos
Thank you Dale and Paula for giving your honest opinion on Vic & Anthony's. My husband and I had such a superb experience at Oscar's last year, we both felt it would be hard to beat.
👋🏼 Hello to my favorite RU-vidrs 👋🏼 I wanted to Thank you both for doing this staycation at the Golden Nugget. I have always wandered about staying there to see what it was like and you did an absolute wonderful job reviewing the resort. I’ll probably do a mini-vacay there when I’m in Vegas next time. Thank you!
So nice to see Dale out and about again. Dale, you looked to others during struggles over the last 2 years and I wanted you to know how much you and Paula helped me. I looked forward to every Sunday to see your adventures and it helped me a lot. Thankfully it looks like we get to visit Vegas once again, booked for May 8th... really hope we see you guys and I'm buying a round.
This is such a lovely comment, thank you very much! We are honored to have been able to provide a little diversion during some pretty tough times the past couple of years. Thanks so much for that offer of a round, hoping it'll happen!
What a cool looking hotel! Your room seemed so much nicer for the price than the room at the Park MGM, where we stayed recently. We were disappointed at the state of the room there. I think we need to check it out on our next visit! The pool area looks amazing. Great vlog, as always.
Hmm I am wondering if Park MGM needs a refresh? Been a while since they rebranded it, and maybe the rooms need to be refreshed. Staying downtown is different - might be worth a try! 😊
We love it that we were able to bring you a virtual version of Las Vegas during all these trying times - hope your dream Vegas trip is turning to reality soon!
What another awesome video Dale and Paula!! As always, you put so much into your videos and love your total honesty about the dinner at Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse. You are so respectful when you let your viewers know how you truly felt with dining and hotel rooms. The Golden Nugget looks very much the same as our last visit, except the rooms have been updated - they look very nice! Thanks for such an awesome video!!
Glad you like the video Brenda 🥰 About our reactions…we do want to be respectful, because anybody anywhere can have an off night, or a less than perfect experience. And then somebody else has a great one!
I’ve never thought about staying on the strip but this changed my mind. The pool looks amazing! There seems to be a lot to do downtown for families. Although I would probably go during the week when it’s calmer. What you said about comedians and cursing, I agree with. One of the things I like about your channel is that you keep the language and content clean. Thanks for another great video.
Not sure if you've been to Vegas before but the Nugget isn't on the strip, it's downtown and unlike the strip, Fremont street can have some pretty low class people.
@@nancyg1329 No problem! We do head downtown once in a while just to get off the strip but haven't stayed there in over 10 years. It's gotten better with the Circ casino I guess and the Nugget is still beautiful but man there are so many tweakers, hustlers, people bugging you to buy stuff it's a bit much.
LOVE this video!!! I think that's where we're going to book when we finally make it back out there! Congrats on the wins! We won at the Nugget and Binions when we went in 2019. We love the feel of Fremont, especially in the casinos that kept the old Vegas feel. Aw, Dale! You're so sweet! We love you both!
Aww thanks so much, we love you too! We really feel that your odds of winning downtown are wayyyy better than out in the neighborhoods -- I'm glad you agree. Hurry back, and get to winning!
I've missed your staycation videos! Thanks for your honest review of the restaurant, you guys are very fair but of course not everything can be a winner. Also wanted to say that your videos kept me going during quarantine ♥️
