I love that you call the 1B's stone dust. Same here bro!

Dang 99% of contractors call that good after the compactor disappears into the hole.
@hulksmash5-625

Cant be mad at the guy who put it in because no one ever digs down w feet to put in pavers you only dig down about 12 inches for your 6-8 inch base half inch of mason sand and then your pavers and yes you use mason sand instead of stone dust it works better for drainage and doesnt heave when the ground freezes
@boozie206
@boozie206 6 месяцев назад
Right? Guys mixing up plumbing and masonry and digging down to the frost line 😂
@daveosullivan9206
@daveosullivan9206 2 месяца назад
When we do bases for this we knock up a lean compatible mix of concrete 4 inch them throw it about and rung the compacter ver it . Then 4 inch of sand compacted

Had a develeoper here in the nashville area that buit a subdivision back in the 80's, property was covered in tree and hilly. He pushed all the tress into the valleys, covered with fill of different types. Thought he had a good based. Fast forward to early 2000's and guess what what, same thing that happed to this pavers happened to the houses built on top of the fill....where is the builder and developer, no where to be found and none of the insurance companies covered the houses and the banks still wanted their money
@bobthemagicmoose
@bobthemagicmoose 4 месяца назад
Same in Atlanta area. Every house in my neighborhood has “sinkholes” that cost up to $100k to fix. All because the developer wanted to save a few hundred per lot by not disposing of stumps properly

Just pour some sand on top. Put the pavers back.. $500 later, you find out that it's a rotten tree root and you could have made the repair 3 times over the next 20 years for less.

@aalleezzzz
@aalleezzzz 4 месяца назад
@@spookyskeleton216that’s the point, this is the right way of doing it and fixing it long term but it would be a lot cheaper to just do a quick fix every 5 years instead

Yea, exa try lol. Maybe if they were redoing the entire thing, but that repair costing more than 200$ is by far a waste

@gazzyb7571 Exactly - well, he will not get paid what's owed till it's repaired. 4 weeks ago, he asked for full payment. I told him there are things that need to be addressed and corrected. He promised me they would be addressed in 2 weeks - that was a month ago.

1/4 or 3/8 stone is much better than stone dust. But still need 6” of a gravel base

In toronto we would charge bout $800-1200 for this...these small repairs take more time then they look and no one wants to do them...
@spookyskeleton216
@spookyskeleton216 7 месяцев назад
@@Toronto6ixfacts that could end up being a whole day or at leat 6 hrs for 2 guys to do it right and at 100 per man hour 12 man hours 1200 plus materials and trucking costs could be more like 1800 here in northern Massachusetts

I’m at 255 an hour for two guys. This prolly took minimum 6 hours. Most likely 8 plus the 50 dollar bag of poly sand and 25 bucks in rock. Plus the little stuff like loading up for the job and disposing of all the fill.
@JesusisKing03
@JesusisKing03 4 месяца назад
Lord have mercy, that's why I tend to do my own repairs as much as I can; they may not come out like a pro but as I do it I learn for the next time. 😢 It's insane that they could charge so much. I wouldn't pay over $200 for this job but then again I'm poor and cheap 😂
@JT-hs3pe

Don't use stone dust. Acts like a sponge. Processed gravel and 1 inch of concrete sand on top works best

Why do it the cheap easy way that lasts 15yrs, when you can do it the "right way" at 3x the cost that lasts 15 extra days after the homeowner passes.
