I had an opportunity to mine the mighty Fraser River out in BC in March. I met some great people and had a wonderful time digging for gold in the sun while the world was still frozen over back home in Alberta.

You are really living the dream! Love the videos, I’m in school right now in BC for computer science, but this seems like a great hobby and could theoretically actually make money unlike most lol. You and andythrax just radiate passion for gold it’s amazing. I love the engineering process you go through also, some of the mechanical engineering students i talk to here would only dream of making a highbanker in ~6 hours or find a way to reduce the sound an engine makes in a day.

Thanks for the kind words Scott! One of the cool things about gold mining is that you can apply things learned from all walks of life towards the hobby. Mining equipment is a mixture of art and engineering than be so fun to work on when it's all working out right :)

I could nitpick the setup because I'm kind of a perfectionist but I won't because I don't want to send the wrong vibe. Gotta say though that is a solid take of gold for highbanking!! Great job guys!! Makes me want to take trip out there hehe

I love that vibe! Everything can be nitpicked, but there has to be a real context of positivity towards improvement rather than just pointing out negatives. A few little tweaks and she'll be running smooth, and it gave us the gold we got, so always thankful to not just be panning! 😀

Gold mining fix , a rush like a cold beer on hot day in the begining of april . When its 45 , 5 gallon buckets to the yard . thats a lot of bucket brigading . Wish one could be there drinking in the experience

I haven't found anything bellow a dam in Calgary. The bow is one of the most heavily dammed rivers in Alberta and each dam is a dead end for gold. The further downriver you go in Calgary the better you will do, although likely only a few small flakes in a "good" spot.

And have a license and BC you need to live in BC to get a license As I live in Alberta I can't get a license unless I borrow an address claiming I live there On that note Anybody have an address they want to rent me ?😊

To highbank in BC you need to be on a claim, and follow the rules set out for highbanking. Either your own claim, or with permission on someone else's. You can get a claim if you are Canadian. You just need to drive in person to a government office in BC to sign up for your BCEID, even if you live in another province.

flip them rakes over lmao...i fell on 1 of them when i was like 5 or 6 years old...dont feel nice with a rake bouncing around bobbling cus its stuck in your knee... cool vids tho :D
