All of you karens need to understand that she did the sheltie the way the OWNER REQUESTED IT. my god. People have other preferences. Accept it and stop always giving your 2 cents.
When i see a sheltie it brings tears to my eyes, i lost my sheltie to old age,(he was 15) several years ago a very gentle dog and loving he couldn't get to mutch loving LOL every week i get him roast beef and change sometimes pastrami, lex look forward to.Great video👍 about dog grooming when done well the dog can actually enjoy it.
Several of the steps on this video go against what most breeders and multiple Sheltie owners believe should be part of the groom, and they are very robust about how the coat should groomed. However, this type of groom is very practical. I had a show groomer do this type of trim at my request and it grew out in a few months without any ill effects.
We’ve never taken our sheltie to the groomer, but I brush her almost every day I’m with her and give her a bath once a month. She does not like baths or brushing, but thankfully I enjoy grooming her so she has little to no mats!
I haven’t either I bathe and do his nails. I love the clean look but does it do anything for the shedding. Besides the brushing. Lol. I have never cut his hair other than with the wide tooth brush you use in the video. His hair between his toes make it hard to get a quick clip on his nails. I put him in my farmers sink and wet his feet and clip. And her feet look awesome that is such a great idea. I thought Shelties weren’t supposed to be cut but I like her’s.
What a darling Sheltie! My girl simply loathed grooming of any sort, and I did not have the sense to bribe her with food. Suggestion to other humans owned by Shelties: bribery & praise help!
We just adopted a 10 month old sheltie from a family bc her owner passed away. What is the price range of grooming a sheltie in this way? I'm sure it varies from one part of the country to the next but what would be a general cost. I have yorkies and my groomer charges me $45 to groom my 5 lb yorkie.
My Blue Merle sheltie really needs a good bath and to be groomed. Can you please tell me which trimming tools I should use? She's fine in a bath, hair dryer and a good brushing but needs a good cut and trim. Currently I don't know who in this new city I can go to in order to get her looking terrific. So I'm going to attempt this myself but I have no proper grooming table and honestly cannot afford it right now. I have a lot of back pain & arthritis tho as a senior. I'm willing to accept any suggestions I can get. Thanks so much.❤
👋😊Ahoj. Milujem sheltie a škótske kolie🤗💓 Zastrihavam iba labky🐾🐾 a češem každý deň. Ja pri tom relaxujem. Keby chcem strihať, kúpim si pudla. 🤔🐩 Maťa zo Slovenska 🇸🇰
I know this is a year old but do you have a link to products you are using as far as the shampoos and the brush treatment specifically. I had no idea wet brushing was a thing.
My Shetie plays really hard with our Rough Collie. They slober on each other and roll around in the grass and dirt. Beautiful practical cut. Very Nice!
I'm going to bring Juliana to MN. I thought perhaps I could learn how to do this for her but it's too detailed and I'm not careful enough. I don't trust myself.
Wow ok How much of a break did you give here between each session. And how many session. She stayed very calm thru most of the video. I saw some looks and moves that looks like my Levi. Stink eye then a tightened stance.
Anna, you did a great job of showing a practical groom for a non show dog requested by the owner. In the 4 years our girls have been to our local groomer only once have they come back looking that clean and sharp. Wish you lived around here. Thanks!
Thank you so much Gary, I really appreciate it! I really try to do what each owner asks for along with a high quality groom! I appreciate the love and support! Have a great day 😊
I groom my own sheltie and do a lot of similar things. I still cannot make up my mind how to do the "gouchos" as we call his rear leg fur. Shelties are tricky and yah, you are not shooting for show dog style which would be pretty long from what I see. I overtrim so I don't have to cut every 2 months.
I owned two show quality (one a champion, one made it halfway) Shelties for 14 years total, and never cut their fur save for paws and ears, on her advice. Never had any issues and had lovely flowing fur. Brushed/combed maybe twice a week for a few minutes. Low maintenance dogs.
I am going to groom my sheltie like this because he is almost 9 yrs old and has arthritis and he doesn’t like his back end-legs, butt or tail-I would rather have him shaved down and comfortable when he’s in pain and uncomfortable.
Good question - it did not seem so. I combed my dogs' fur before washing, but apparently that can damaged the fur. I assumed that it would make bathing easier.
Hello! After towel dried, I used Best Shot Ultramax finishing spray, and Chris Christensen Ice on Ice. During the brush out I used Hydra detangling spray
@@zoomgroom_anna thank you! Also was wondering if it's the forever stainless steel brand tub you guys have? And if you like it? I'm opening another shop next month and currently cannot stand the tub we have at my other place, trying to decide if it's worth the extra money for that tub. We have the paw brothers tub with the white grates that really suck to clean. Ha.
I just hope you ask each client if they want their shelties to be trimmed! Personally, I would be horrified if any of my shelties came back to me looking like this. Each owner is different of course. But, I have heard too many stories of shelties coming back from the groomer being trimmed like this and the owner was totally unaware this would happen. I just love their thick and luscious coats!
@@edwinmiller5006 Actuality, they romp in the yard and get walks daily and are on flea meds! We also have sheltiefest days when multiple sheltie come by to play with my three. Also, mine are frisbee maniacs. Unfortunately, your assumption are wrong.
My dad was beyond furious when our older sheltie came back from the groomer like Sunny, and I specifically told the groomer to not trim. Never went back 😅 Now he's just a natural coat handsome Sheltie who's always outside in the yard, given the weather is good.
@@elainechen3036 I can not tell you how many of sheltie owners have had the same experience you did! The same exact issue. The groomer was told not to trim yet the dog was returned trimmed. While I can understand some folks liking that look and for ease of coat maintenance, it is inexcusable to have your dog returned being trimmed when you specifically said NOT TO DO SO.
Way too much cutting of fur. My breeder who shows very successfully recommends around paws and ears only. I have owned two of her Shelties for 14 years total and used her method. My dog never looked like it had a crew cut.
Sunny looks so pretty so cute!! The groomer did a great job!!💋🐶❤️💋♾️🛁🥇 (unfortunately there’s no emoji for groomer so the bubble bath and 1st place is the best I can come up with.)
wow you are good at grooming ! wish you were near me ! My Sheltie has arthritis and can not stand long so we just trim a little but she still looks bad!
