Madelyn Diaz Sunny was a jerk to him too. I felt so bad for Gio too bc he would try and get involved with Olan and Sunny but every time he did he just kept on getting pushed aside or told to stop by Sunny. It was so weird

There’s definitely tension between these guys. The joke said by Gio at 3:58 did not resonate with the rest of them. Look at how Sunny tries to hide his smirk by looking away from the camera and the way Ryder’s attitude changes in that instant

Also like around 4:02, it’s so weird. Bc Gio tried to make a joke that he thought Sunny and Olan would laugh but they didn’t. I felt like in the vid you could see that Gio prolly felt excluded or that he was trying kind hard. Plus, it was so rude how Sunny would hush Gio up or kinda ignore him in a way
All their egos are getting to them because of the movie. The lil white boy and oleg probably think they’re the main characters so I’m assuming that ryder and the other homie are just over it. Clout got to them. Ryder and the other fool explained shit so simple and easy to understand but oleg and the lil white kid try to dam hard
I love how this movie explores social hiearchy amongst teenagers in a non stereotypical way. This is one of the reasons Ruben was my favorite character. While the film wants us to sympathize with Sunny's character, the real outsider is Ruben. It seems like Gio is very much in a similar situation to his character in real life. That's why I'd like to see him in the lead if they were to make a second movie, his character has much to offer and explore. Ultimately, we've all been Ruben at one point. Where you're accepted into a group but are low in the groups social hierachy and are kinda just there..... it's so much more difficult to deal with when you're young. But that's just how life works.
Great points...unfortunately I feel like the odds are pretty low that there would be a sequel or spinoff, but there are so many different ways you could go with the material if they did. The Reuben character definitely gets less attention, but you are right that it is still very important to the whole project.
Ya feel like I relate to Ruben the most. I think they did a great job on characterization in this movie. Anyone can relate to any of the characters in the friend group.
Hate is probably too strong, but they are young and definitely can get on the nerves of each other. Plus there is a pretty wide age range between them all.

Yeah, I would have preferred that too. I just don't have the gear to make that happen. I would have also like to interview them in smaller groups so they wouldn't have had to fight to talk anyway, but unfortunately that was something beyond my control.
Oh I totally agree with you. I definitely like that they feel like they are being authentic. I wish they could have been divided into smaller groups so they could each get to share their thoughts more, but it definitely doesn't feel like they are trying to fake chemistry. And I definitely would have loved to interview Nakel, so I'm not going to disagree with you there anyway. ;-)
this interview was so entertaining because the cast are actually super close, in any other video or bts they're super tight and energetic. like they are literally polar opposites at their film premiere versus this press day. *they all look SOOOO DONE HELP*

One of my all time favorite movies, from the 4:3 screen ratio to the 90s nostalgia... it was like a movie found in a time capsule. Ray was so dope to me and ruben was relatable when it comes to tough upbringing in LA..

I felt bad for the guy, it was hard for him to get a word in with the rest of that group. Plus you can tell that being the oldest one in the group definitely wears on him.
He's the one that thrives on being the center of attention and throws a fit when he's not. I have a few friends like that and it ALWAYS ruins the occasion. Not to mention the lack of professionalism. Yeah, they're young and new to the success, but come on.
olan looks like he’s completely done w/ this shit. sunny is actually the one who has the most to tell and interact. gio is half time playing with his fingers or looking around. ryder is sleeping and not having this shit half the time and actually paying attention too. all i gotta say is i love them.

Biggest thing I took from Mid90s is that sometimes your parents won’t agree with it and sometimes your skate homies fuck up, but at the end of the day I’m thankful for skateboarding and the family it’s given me and I feel like they’ll be there in the end as they were in the last scene of Mid90s
