In September, I was scheduled to attend the Air Care Alliance (ACA) Annual Meeting which was being hosted by Angel Flight West down in Santa Monica (SMO), CA. It was a great 950nm cross country flight in N62DL. I stopped off at Hillsboro Airport (HIO) near Portland to pick up another Angel Flight pilot who was also travelling to the meeting.
This video focuses on the first leg from Renton (RNT) to Hillsboro Airport (HIO). I had a very early start so there is some great video of the sunrise over the clouds and also an ILS approach into HIO.
Unfortunately, I had some issues with the GoPros starting with the approach into HIO. You’ll see there is less audio for the last few minutes but I was able to download some audio from Live ATC. The video I have for the remainder of the flight down to SMO is not the quality I’d like to post here. Hopefully I’ll be able to do a better job on the next flight to Santa Monica and share it with you. It is an amazing trip. I did include a few photographs from the California trip at the end of the video. I hope you enjoy them!
The ACA is the national organization that that acts as an umbrella organization for the many Public Benefit Flying Organizations. If you are a pilot who wants to volunteer, the ACA website is a great place to start. Also if you are in need of volunteer transport, the ACA can help you find the best volunteer organization.
