About the Performers
All of the performers on today’s program are current members of the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony. The talented musicians of the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony are selected by audition from Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, and northern Palm Beach counties. Founded in 1987, the orchestra performs standard and classical literature, as well as modern transcriptions of Broadway scores. Our three conductors are educators and professional musicians and include our founder and Director Emeritus, Dr. John Enyart; the Managing Conductor, Thomas Servinsky; and Benjamin Enyart.
The mission of the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony is to provide challenging experiences in orchestral and individual performance for student musicians, to broaden technical skills and artistic expression, to instill professionalism, and to enhance enjoyment of their musical talents for themselves and for their audiences.
An invaluable asset to the community the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony offers many benefits to its young musicians, their families, and audiences. As an independent private non-profit organization, it makes available an advanced level supplement to music education in our schools by providing musician members with orchestral performance experiences and the opportunity to play full original scores - the same music played by professional orchestras. The orchestra has provided merit scholarships and music education grants for lessons, summer camps, and instrument purchase assistance in an amount over $120,000 to its members. Participation in the orchestra has enhanced college, university, and conservatory acceptance levels and higher education scholarships.
Dr. Marie Jureit-Beamish, a member of the boards of both MartinArts and the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, has had an illustrious and versatile career as a performing musician and professor of music at Principia College (Elsah, Illinois) for over 35 years as the Charles Stewart Harding Mott Distinguished Professor of Music and currently Professor Emerita of Music, upon retiring in 2014. She studied and performed flute and piano with some of the most significant musicians of the 20th century including Igor Stravinsky, Aaron Copland, Pierre Boulez, Darius Milhaud, Loren Maazel, Leonard Bernstein, and Roger Sessions-to name but a few. Earning her doctorate from Yale School of Music, she has served as Chair of the Frances Blaisdell Scholarship competition established by the National Flute Association in 2010 to honor one of the most important mentors in Marie’s life. She has been recognized for her career-long leadership in the arts by receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Arts Council, the Community Service Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the 2017 winner of the Sage Award for outstanding contribution to the arts in Martin County. She is the 2020 Winner of the “Women of Distinction Award” sponsored by the Soroptimist international of Stuart. In 2022 she was honored at the National Flute Association with the Golden Anniversary Award for her lifetime commitment to the arts. Eight years ago she established the “Sunset Concerts @ the Gallery” held here at the Arts Council of Martin County Cultural Center. An active leader of performing arts trips both in this country and abroad, she has co-lead Arts Council of Martin County’s “cultural excursions” trips.
