Supister I am that flying man outside your window! I fly every day and one site I land in a field in between two lines of houses! Most of the neighbours know us regulars, bit we fly pretty much every day!
C X we have very strict regulations over here mate. We’re governed by the HGFA (hang gliding federation of Australia) and we also have strict laws in certain airspace by CASA (civil aviation safety authority), but certain fly sites don’t have top landing, and one of our sites which is almost always on bottom lands in a field but it’s a strip kind of deal with houses on both sides of the park. Same site were not allowed to use the beach (which would make the walk back much easier), because it’s a very popular tourist beach, and they just won’t let us flag it or put witches hats down to land in the tiniest little section of the beach.. But yes, we’ve had two deaths at another fave of mine and about 5 or 6 serious injuries at the spot this year already simply because there’s no bomb out zone! It’s either too land on top of every Japanese tourist standing in clearly marked spots not to stand, or down on the beach, and it’s either thick dense bush or the ocean, and you’d rather land in the bush then those hard core waves smashing your into the rocks
@@patrickswayze2596 I only paraglided once so I don't know regulations super well, but I feel its also quite strict in the USA. Sorry to hear your flying site situation was not ideal.
It's pretty shocking to see (hahaha), but realistically, I'm sure he knows exactly where all of the power lines in that route are, and is approaching with plenty of speed to ensure he can gain the lift needed to pass over them with a safety margin to spare. If he didn't find enough lift to maintain a safe enough speed, I'm sure he would have worked his way down the mountain and crossed where he safely could. It's amazing the control those little light-weight gliders have.. I paraglide, but I need to hang glide ;-)
My heart is breaking, six years since my last flight, my wing covered in dust in the garage. I want to go back so much. This is the best sport in the world. Great video, great location, I am so jealous! Thanks for the video
At least you have one. I can only make paper airplanes. :-) Would love to be a passenger..but at my age, they would probably say no. Good way to die. :-)
Notice also the cableway, ski-lift and power lines that this fool flies over or grazes instead of avoiding. He also doesn’t care about the private property. I like flying but its not the way to do it. He is really stupid. I do not wish him the worst, but surely he will get in trouble or will hurt himself.

It would lose most viewers, but some content creators use a second channel for odds and ends like full raw video. Asking for that might get you what you want.
You are mightily blessed to be able to make a living doing something you love to do. Me, I've done factory and manual labor all my life, and I can only think of one job I've done I really could say I loved.
That was the most amazing video I've ever seen. I didn't realize all the things you could do in a hang glider. This is way more intense than wingsuit proximity flying.
Amazing - I've seen many "proximity" wingsuit videos on You Tube, but this is the first hang gliding one I've seen. He really knows where all the ski lift cables and wires are on that mountain!
Come join the community bro, it’s not cheap, but either are bikes, I know because both my wife and I ride road and all of us (5) ride dirt, but airsports will change your life bro!
I don't know him, but given his comments from the video, he instructs from that site, and flies it regularly. (That launch was definitely designed for gliders) Given the slope of the hill and direction of the power lines (going down the slope), he can make his way down the hill to safely cross in a location where he has adequate speed/altitude.. the fact that he flew so close to them suggests he felt he had plenty of speed to maintain control and ensure clearance of the lines. Before flying a route, a responsible pilot will generally (always) check the route for emergency landing sites and hazards.. power lines being a big part of what a pilot's looking for, as they tend to shorten many ideal landing sites, and as you saw from the speed the gliders landed at, it takes a good sized field to allow a novice to safely land.
Where you live is wonderful. The people there are also amazing. On the way you fly, I have seen people who keep nature very friendly. I wish my hometown people also have the same sense of protecting nature. Thank you for your video. like an alien blue planet to me.
AMAZING GUYS ! I have to subscribe immediately! What a rush!. The first time i saw hang gliding live was as a child in 1978 in Denmark I heard someone called Bent? They were flying off a cliff over the ocean and I was mesmerized and thrilled to pieces. Thanks so much - Greetings from Nairobi
Bro, this is absolutely the BEST hang gliding video I’ve ever seen! The view, the low flying, the control and authority you display! Amazing! I’m a newbie trike flexwing Pilot, and I am thinking of Hang Glider instruction this year , I’m in Buffalo ny but there is the Rochester Flyers Group up the road from me! You just made my mind up! Lol! I subbed and please, please, keep the videos coming! DaveyZeeTV
Looks like a dinosaur costume 😆 All jokes aside, awesome vid dude!! Aces!! Curious; why do you never go over the mountain ranges and low-level clouds in the distance? Is there not enough lift over there? Or is it one of those things where you don't wanna be stuck way high over a mountain range if something goes awry?!!
I used to fly HG's in the 80's and 90's, we didn't get that fast or that close to the ground, but I guess the technology has changed a lot. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun to be honest haha. My Wife of 30+ years would never let me go HG again. Oh, hi from NZ!
I can’t believe I found this!!! Me and my family actually met you before you did this launch, we’re from Minnesota USA, we were on a trip to Switzerland. We all met you as you were getting ready to launch, you told me about your RU-vid channel but I could never find it. The fact that I stumbled across this videos five years later is super cool. We have videos from behind of you launching!
Glide ratio is a function of the wing. With the same wing and a heavier pilot you get the max glide ratio at a faster speed than with a lighter pilot. This is why sailplanes carry water ballast on days when the lift is strong they fly faster to get the max L/D. Stall speed isn't going to be that much more with a pilot who is say 30#'s heavier than another.
love the take off music I went into the zone flying with him in my minds eye etc.....ANOTHER AWESOME video and this has made me more want to start learning hang gliding I follow ppg powered paragliding is I watch the sport and people on RU-vid but equally I have always said to my self I want to learn hang gliding I love the idea of the powered hang gliders called mosquito's etc great stuff
Gorgeous vid, but I'm a bit disappointed you felt the need to speed up the higher altitude segments. To me they're just as cool as the low altitude beat-ups. (speaking as an ex-pilot)
@@watershedcohousing9650 hey Christine that question was from a year ago. Yes I was wondering what you used to fly and why you stopped. I wasn't trying to be flipped just wondering sorry. God bless you
@@Bear049 Hey no worries, really! But, like I said, I realized that I was starting to f-up when I flew, and if I kept going there was a chance I could make a serious mistake. Sigh. By the way, my last glider was a UP Comet 2 (which gives you an idea how long ago it was!)
How would one even begin to learn how to control an extended head-first dive into the earth from very high altitudes? I mean really. Great flight and vid!
Amazing. Surely one of the most fascinating landscape for one to fly over..Looks like a never ending dream..If the hanggliders have a view on your video, the hotels around there will not be enough to host so many people. Congrat
Alice H don’t just talk about it, do it! Where in Australia are you? I’ve been a Paraglider, powered Paraglider and hang glider for many years now, and the amount of times I hear people say ‘I want to do that’ but never follow through with it is disappointing! Either HG or PG is a lifestyle, and go give a tandem a go and if you think it’s for you, then commit to a course! We have many extremely amazing schools all across Australia!
@@patrickswayze2596 Problem is that buying a good kite / glider is quite expensive. Then add the training, education and certification cost on top of that. That's easily 10,000 € or more, just for the basic stuff.
Dan221075 I prefer Paragliging and paramotoring over hang gliding, things just change, we change and our motivations change, I guess I can have more fun doing what I do on a paraglider... I still get my HG out from time to time, but it’s a pain in the arse strapping it down then setting it up, where I can just use my mini wing when it’s heavier winds
Your videos have been a massive inspiration @wolfgangSiess, I recently just completed my hang gliding course and am super pumped that I can finally fly solo :)
Boy you guys are really good at this craft and for such a long journey you do it like it's really simple . It was an incredible ride I'm sure it takes Alot of skills ... plus the way you guys fly it's totally perfect.. Hats off too you guys really enjoy riding with you ... 😂.
(1) Wind nose angle change( increase, higher aspect ratio),(2) lower trailing edge ( less drag) (3) Sail cloth gets drum tight (4) pilot CG goes a bit forward. A litle bit like a fighter jet ( but wings don't close). In summary more performance ( improved glide ratio, top speeds) but less maneuverability. Ps -mechanism: the rope activates a series of pulleys conected to the inside physical structure of the glider ( crossbar, sprogs, etc) in order to change the glider geometry effortlessly.
I used to work with this fella in the same tandem company in Qt Nz..The owner of the company was shifty but this fella was very good..had good time there
Hi from New Zealand..and the good Lord sayeth unto me, "If I had meant you to fly, I would have given you wings, but instead I have given you Intelligence, so you can make your own wings and soar where neither lark or Eagle would go" :) ..... so reach out and touch the face of God . woohoo
@@pouyasheykhghasemi2724 On YT you NEVER know if 'joking', just go visit a few flat Earth videos and you will understand that I am dead on. If you go look at some of say, Tucker Got's PPG videos, where he go pros from his foot, it really DOES look green screened, it's downright weird how much, actually, and it isn't. This video here, doesn't look screened, at all. I think The Dro's was a joke here, though.
Not really. Done right it's not very dangerous at all. If you mean specifically the type of flying on this vid though, yeah, you flat out better know what you are doing.
Love watching your awesome flights but wish you'd just show the entire flight in real speed and maybe just some commentary without music. Maybe start with a blog roll.
