The happy mail packages you receive are testaments to how you embody the Dali quote regarding being inspirational. Not only do you inspire us to create, you inspire your viewers to bless you with treasures for your creative journey which keeps the cycle going! As always thanks for sharing. Love the idea of a swatch book (or junk journal even!) for ribbons, trims and even fabric scraps, etc. Sometimes I hoard things because I fear I’ll never find anything like it again, but if I knew I could flip through a book to at least admire snippets of the past pretties I’ve come across it would be easier to actually use them in projects. And now this comment has come full circle-Inspiration from Meg at Chasing Retro! ❤
FYI the trim with the elastic loops is used or was used for buttons on wedding dresses. I don't know if they are still used but in 1970 i buttoned my cousin into her dress which had about 100 buttons if you count the train. Love your channel.
Amazing Happy Mail.Cindy is very thoughtful and generous.I'm going to try a peanut butter and mayo sandwich! When my brother and I were kids we had Jam and Cheese. It was yum.Sorry to hear you have been going through a rough patch. Hope you feel better soon. ❤❤❤
Thanks for the shoutout question about Beacon St. in Boston! Beacon St is a pretty long street, so I wasn’t sure if 239 Beacon was closer to Beacon Hill or Kenmore Square or parts of Brookline and Newton, so I looked it up. It’s in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston, which is between Beacon Hill and Kenmore Sq. It’s a lovely, lively neighborhood. Gosh, this makes me miss Boston! So happy to hear you spent part of your Honeymoon in Boston and VT! And this is such an amazing happy mail package! I’m swooning over the Vintage trims!
Thanks Meridith! So neat! Yeah, we landed in Boston, did a 7 day tour of NE states, then stayed two more days in Boston again. Finished the trip with an Italian meal with tiramisu at Vinny Testa's! I still regret not actually going on the USS Constitution (we did the walking tour but didn't go on board. :(
The sandwich game cards look super fun. I don’t have any odd sandwich favorites. And those peach trims, I’m swooning for you haha. And all the yellow items especially for you.
Oh my gosh, I listen to Kmart music too! I've never told anyone that before. The Christmas music is the best. I miss Kmart and Woolworths. My friends and I thought we were so grown up to sit at the Woolworths counter and order lunch. Love all the peach. My wedding color was peach and our daughter's nursery was done in the little peach rose buds. So many memories! I still have my Dating Game from when I was little! What a treasure box from Cindy!
Love the details about the peach! Rosebuds were all the rage in the early 80s! I had so many rosebud nightgowns -- ha. And I remember going to several peach weddings! Wedding dresses (and bridesmaid gowns) in the 70s and 80s were A+ awesome.
Unusual sandwich I love: peanut butter and watermelon on toasted bread. The peanut butter waterproofs the bread. 🍉 ❤ My husband’s grandparents (who taught us about watermelon sandwiches) ordered their first house and furniture from the Sears catalog.
Fun fact: there are only 2 remaining Kmarts: 1 in Long Island, NY, and the other near me in Miami. It's very small, just a portion of it's original size since they sold off most of the space to an At Home store. I haven't been in there in a while, but I read it's set up in a vintage Kmart fashion with vintage "Blue Light Special" signs and 70% Off etc. I'm going to have to check it out.
Your mayonnaise, peanut butter sandwich was popular at my house growing up. I'm a Wyoming native and that's not very southern. Lol... Sometimes, we chose to grill them. Sooo good. ❤
Lol First of all not much grosses me out because I'm a boy Mom. 🤣 I must admit those sammys sound gross. But peanut butter and dill pickle is good, liked since I was a child. 😁 My favorite is tuna sandwich, my Mom added diced apple in her tuna, yum! Wonderful vintage goodies! I hope you'll heal soon. 🙏
I remember K-mart but I don’t remember the music…I’ll have to go search for it here and listen! lol Oh my goodness yes!! My mom made a bunch of those barrettes with the beads on the ribbons…my sister and I wore them all the time. I have some of mine saved in my keepsake bin. ☺️🫶🏻
