Score should have been 45 31 Steve Furness failed to recover a fumble deep in Dallas territory and Roy Gerela missed a FG attempt but my team held them off Cowboys were fortunate John Stallworth had leg cramps because Pittsburgh would have run away with the game

Tom Landry was 3-6 vs Chuck Noll losing 5 straight from SB 10,1977,SB13,1979 & 1982.Roger Staubach was 1-7 vs qbs that won the SB from the AFC in the 1970s including 0-4 vs Terry Bradshaw.Landry was 1-7 in the Orange Bowl including 3 SB losses by 11 points

I was 17 when I saw this titanic clash between these 2 powerhouse teams. What an epic game as was the first meeting, except higher scoring. But it was like watching Ali vs Frazier for the 2nd time, creating the greatest interconference rivalry in the NFL.

At 40:00 is one of the worst calls I've ever seen or even heard about. The fact that Swann to this day is still claiming it's pass interference tells me more about how myopic he is than anything else. The official who was closest to the play, right on the play in fact, didn't call anything.

Forgot that Pittsburgh just missed scoring even more points. That long field goal attempt by Gerela was right on the money, right down the middle. Just one foot short, it actually banged right off the crossbar. One more foot in length and it was good. Super close.

Cliff Harris and Charlie Watters were the weak links of the doomsday defense. They both are in Lynn Swann and Stallworth highlights getting burnt, missing tackles and taking the wrong angles. The Steelers had better safeties.

Dallas was considered America’s Team however Steeler Nation was the best. They were vibrant and TRAVELED! Way more Steeler fans.

No other Super Bowl had two great teams to match these two.steel Curtain vs Doomsday II Defense. Staubach vs Bradshaw. Noll vs Landry. The Cowboys played in 5 Super Bowls in the seventies and lost 3 by a combined total of 11 points. Two of those losses were against the Steelers. I loved the Cowboys but had to concede that Pittsburgh was the Team of the Seventies. Hats off to the Steelers.

This was not just another superbowl game. The winner here would go on to be known as the team for that decade. I don't know of any other game in NFL history before or since, that carried that type of magnitude. It was the biggest game ever played.

Too many forget that John Stallworth missed the entire second half. Every single play. Pittsburgh was forced to play with one hand tied behind their back, a huge disadvantage. Nevertheless, Dallas was not able to overtake and defeat them, even in that severely weakened condition.

COWBOYS shot themselves in the foot too many times to win. Randy White taking the kickoff with a broken arm fumble, Smith's wide open TD bumble

39:52 both Barnes and Swann got their feet tangled up. That was no interference but the idiot back judge called and it. It got the Cowboys so lose focus that they were able score two drives. Then the Henderson hit after the whistle. Then on 3rd and 9 Franco Harris was mad he demanded the ball and just ran like a mad man for that touchdown. The Gerella slipping down and Randy White fumbling the ball that the Steelers recovered. Next play Bradshaw threw that touchdown to Swann and that was the game. All from that one pass interference play led to those chain of events. The Steelers took advantage the Cowboys just fell mentally.

you knew it wasnt the cowboys day when their reciever jackie drops that wide open pass in the endzone, and the steelers kicker slips and kicks the ball short and it goes to randy white who has a cast on his arm and he fumbles the ball,and the ref getting in the way of the cowboys safety leaving franco harris to run into the end zone.

😂😂 When Dallas played the 49ers it was always DOOMSDAY & when DOOMSDAY played the STEEL CURTAIN in the 70s it was the Steelers. Against VIKINGS, COWBOYS (2) and the RAMS. *Cant jump on the bandwagon I didn’t watch the BIG BEN Super Bowl wins it wasn’t the same as the 70s victories. FOOTBALL don’t FEEL THE SAME for me anymore. i installed a fireplace for John Stallworth outside Huntsville, Alabama, back in the mid 1990's. Sat on his leather couch and talked football, saw his game room. Such a super nice guy, humble and polite. Fond memory!!

I know of at least six from the Cowboys in the Hall of Fame. (Staubach, Smith, Dorsett, Randy White, Drew Pearson, and Harris). Maybe there was one or two more. But that's all I can think of.

Even though I am an die hard eagles fan, for I bleed green, this game at even 40 years later, I still rooted from my heart against the Steelers. I wanted Dallas to win this super bowl so badly. And by the way, even though the eagles finally won a super bowl, this Super Bowl, this was by far the best Super Bowl game ever. It had more drama, more hall of famers, more back stories, and some controversial calls, and I still think the refs helped the Steelers out a bit, and I hate the Cowboys, but I rooted for Roger, Tony Dorsett, and Drew Pearson. This was the greatest Super Bowl game ever, and the most pain I ever felt in a super bowl game. And I am a die hard Eagle fan, with 2 Super Bowl losses( Raiders- Patriots), but this game still hurts over 43 years later. The game was that good. This game had my favorite receivers, Lynn Swan and Drew Pearson. My favorite Quarterback Roger, my favorite running back Tony Dorsett, The great legendary Mean Joe Greene, Terry Bradshaw, the great John Stalworth, Jack Lambert, and Randy White, and more. Both coaches are hall of famers. The game had everything and more, and went down to the last 23 seconds. The Cowboys never gave up, and they kept coming back despite the mistakes they made, they kept coming. Such drama. Best Super Bowl game ever.

Bradshaw was great at the end. We beat them every time I played them. If we played them again we would beat them again. Right on Terry.

Hmm. Watched the replay. The lineman blew the cowboy out that they whine the official was in the way. Nobody was close to touching Franco. They can't admit either the call was correct against them the execution of the offense was perfect or that little play they had planned they screwed up. Not Bradshaw. Plus a hall of fame runner such as Franco. You can stop them most of the day, but they find a way to make a play or 2 . That's why he is Franco
