Price ? U say cheap where's the prices of those who has a jewelry set up what's your profit margin? For how many sales? How much did each of your guys systems cost?
how does the furnace and that white machine work if you dont mind me asking, you put the silver in the furnace and the investment in the white machine, how long do you put them in there for each machine? Also at what temperatures do you put them in? or do they change temperatures automatically on their own?
@@drguillotine7485 actually I bought a used system. It’s a Percast and the burn out oven is made in South Africa (can’t remember the name). Also go two different wax injectors, one of them is pressure assisted. Have 8 flasks, 50 lbs of investment, a big bag of wax and a vulcanizer press.
To confirm, do you mean taking the bell jar off the investment side when pouring metal into the flask on the casting side vacuum? Does this create more vacuum?
so question I'm looking to get some of this equipment I was looking at a centrifugal arm that uses centrifugal force but I came across these two in one machines that has the vacuum and the other part on the right but I'm not sure what is. I assume its a vacuum that sucks the metal in through the investment? how does that work and if I'm not mistaken should you not have had the switch over to the casting chamber when you poured the metal in the flask?
As a jeweler/caster for over 25 years that’s one hell of a big flask for such a tiny model to burn out. Your investment powder/consumables cost is going to be astronomical…
How would you say your equipment has held up? I am looking into purchasing all of these bigger pieces, vacuum, furnace & kiln but I want to make sure I'm making the right investment.
Jewellers suppliers there a couple on instagram .I make custom zippos n bracelets .I first carve or make say a skull out milli put or sculpey then cast it in wax sens it along with the metal ,s o gold .they send me it bck I then proceed to build or put it together and at the price it works out great 70 percent profit every time I aim for .it’s worked well for yrs .but instagram has changed the game with company’s like these .good luck .
It would help if you explained what and why you are doing at each step of the vacuum casting process. Thank you for taking the time to prepare this video.
Hey you did great. This video was not a tutorial. There are other videos out there for specifics. I liked to see what you were doing as a continuous process.
No you neeed to keep flask at temperature while the metal heats up otherwise the flask would be cold by the time your ready pour or you could use a torch
@@drguillotine7485 awe damn eh. I couldn't just add the metal in an hour or 2 before the burnout cycles done eh? Handheld Furnaces are pretty cheap on e-bay/Amazon so I really don't mind the purchase, it's more of a save space and electricity thing. If it's a must it's a must though.
@@drguillotine7485 Thanks, I do small casting like 10 to 20 dwt. Can be use for my aplication? Want to try more accurate temp for my melting istead of a torch. Thanks.
How much would you charge me to do a lost wax cast of a small trinket if i was to send it to you made out of the wax product of your choice? It would not need to be perfect. In fact some air bubles and imperfections would be what I would prefer.
I have the same exact setup and my power trips everytime smh. I use an extension cord from the back of the house and use another extension cord from the inside of the laundry room at the side of the house and it still happens. Two different outlets but same issue Idk what to do smfh
don't know about this guy but the cheapest iv seen a kaya cast vacum setup that i know was real and not a knockoff was around 490 but that was in a closed community in terms of buying new iv seen them around 1000 to 1200 dollars and from uk companies that are legit iv seen them for around 800 pounds. in terms of this guys melter/furnace iv seen many different brands of the same furnace cheapest i saw which is the one i currently have was 400 pounds or 500 dollars but that was with extras and mine is bigger. now for his kiln im not sure what brand it is so can't tell but i know if you shop around a paragon kiln is around 500 pounds/600 dollars to around 1200 pounds/1400 dollars but all depends if you know were to look obviously
Hey do you mind sharing what brand equipment you used? My fiancée has history as a bench jeweler, and I’m going to surprise her with her little own set up; so she can be began casting from home.
Couple of things. Make sure you wait 30 minutes before cooling the flask. You could crack your ring. I use a screwdriver and break the plaster up the big peices into the trash can. Then when I get down to the ring hit it with the toothbrush in the bucket. I honestly just throw the bucket out when it gets full with plaster once a year and buy another one rather than clean the plaster out of the bucket
well honestly silver and 21k gold flask can be pured even after 3-4 minutes after casting but for 18k casting you have to wait 30 min otherwise the ring will break
I love your vid man this is exactly what I’m looking for a set up to get into making jewelry . Would you mind if I ask around how much you spend for the three items ? I mean the vacuum casting machine the kiln and the oven.
I spent 550$ for vacuum casting machine, 600 for oven, 200 for furnace i order it all from amazon keep in mind prices have gone up on the vaccum machine since the time I ordered it
@@drguillotine7485 I got mine much cheaper :P but not as good specs as yours. Than again I have gas forge - not a "melter" and actually my kiln (aka your oven :) ) is nearly industrial grade . How did you come up with a wax pattern as I had some success with wax injection - I found it hard to inject amounts in excess of 60 ml. Sadly I made only few videos and literally everything is on my Facebook page :)
I'm literally trying to find a casting machine to purchase right now. I can't find anywhere that ships to the UK. There is one for £900, i dont know how much that is in dollars, but I dont want to spend that much as it would take away from the other tools I am buying. Also would you recommend a generic one casting machine or an actual branded one? The one I was going to get is exactly like yours from Walmart however walmart doesnt ship to the UK
@@drguillotine7485 I ordered one on eBay reluctantly coming from China but due to Chinese New year it hasn't been dispatched yet. Will update when arrives
@@caratcrazyjewellers I haven't set anything up yet as my workspace became unsuitable to inhabit my machines. After the amount of money invested, I'd hate to have a problem due to something preventable. I will however post an update when I am up and running. If you need any advice though, I'd be glad to try my best to help with any questions you may potentially have 😊
@@caratcrazyjewellers my best bit of advice is DONT GO THROUGH EBAY!! The seller tried to charge more after the I item purchase to ship... 400gbp more. Alibaba =no surprises
@@drguillotine7485 you can leave the dome on thats not the issue. but once you switch the pump to release you can turn the pump off right away. its a vacuum pump, if you are not pulling a vacuum it doesn't need to be running.
Your vacuum may be different than my Kaya, however it appears your knob is in the opposite direction than mine. The Kaya directions have a photo indicating the small pointed side is the “indicator” or the ‘tip of the handle that needs to point to whichever side is in use’. The larger side is the handle. In our video it appears your manufacture ha everted these. Loved your video. Although it is not aimed as an instructional video, it helped me to understand that how I’m doing things is pretty darn close to your process. Good job on your final piece. I’d love to see what programming you used.
8 months later...How you making out? Was it all worth it and are you turning a profit? Are items selling as expected? Just curious as I wanted to give it a try, but you get caught up in it all and it ends up not being as you expected, so I want to know from someone who tried, lol.
I’ll make a follow up video! But if you got orders then yes you will make money but I was shocked how much higher my electric bill was it’s better to get a gas oven for the burn out if you can.
I tried to get these pieces of equipment but shipping is just as expensicve as the machine itself :( Does anybody know where I can find one for a good price?
hi. @5:55 may i know why you had soooooo much investment over the wax pattern???! all you need is about 1/2 an inch to cover the wax. thanks for the tutorial.
Lol i just bought all the stuff u just got plus a Phrozen 4k 3-d printer to make my own wax for molds. Yah the power load thing is a little obvious u are in a shed tho. I do this in my basement. I was gona get a centrifugal casting system but idk, that seamed a little sketchy in my basement.
Wow, you bought all that before you made a single cast? It must be nice to be wealthy, I've been casting and making jewelery for a couple years now and I don't think I have any of those things. I use my hand to mix stuff, a centrifugal caster to cast, I just know what I'm about to keep airholes & bubbles out, and believe it or not a conventional cooking oven for burnouts. Admittedly I need a larger caster for bigger stuff I'm making but I still need so much for what I'm doing I can't imagine......oh yeah, I use mappro and torch to melt metal, it's definitely more fun .

Guy...you need to take off the lid before you turn the casting side on as it pulls air from the other side of the machine. Probably why it was making a noise when you turned it on. Bet you had a hell of a time pulling the lid off

You have the time to design the model (depends how god you are with 3D modelling software) Print time (depends on printer size and resin) Curing time of the plaster (depends on plaster) Burn out cycle (melting the plastic to leave a void, depends on resin) Melting metal (depends on what metal and your furnace) Honestly the longest part will be the printing + burn out + plaster cure Possibly initial design but once that’s ready you can cast multiples in one go It’s not quick, but you can have multiple thing going at once and different runs
@@drguillotine7485 do you know if its the exact sama as kaya cast, just without the Logo? Or is their a difference internally. The exterior looks identical
@@Luz-xl5bk they raised the price to 700$ after I ordered I guess they figured out they were selling it too cheap that is still a lot cheaper then kaya casting
@@drguillotine7485 I was waiting to buy one and now I wish I would have just bought one a few months ago! Prices definitely went up on everything I can find. There’s one other option directly from China that’s a little lower but I’m not sure if it’s worth the potential hassle.
You wouldn't have bubbles to speak of if you had mixed it by hand--literally by hand. Always put the water in first and then add the investment material a bit at a time until it forms a cone in the center of the bowl. Then use your hand to slowly stir and mix it without breaking the surface of the water. When it feels like very heavy cream, it's ready. Also, all that shaking just put in even more bubbles.
@@drguillotine7485 I never said you wouldn't have any bubbles or wouldn't need to process it through the vacuum jar. I only said you wouldn't have so many if you mixed it properly to start with. I stand by that assertion. Try it my way and you will see for yourself.
@@BabyJesus66 No I did not. I said he "wouldn't have bubbles to speak of ..." which is to say he would have FEW bubbles, not NO bubbles. Reread my comment.
