Andrew Feather is a superstar climber. Ranked as one of the world’s very best on Strava, he has shown time and time again on the channel just how good he is. But how does he compare to Tour de France riders? To find out, we teamed up with Wahoo to see if he could set a new KOM on the legendary climb of Alpe d’Huez!

One thing that would be neat to highlight and talk about is his form when climbing. I live in the blue ridge mountains (where George Hincapie lives) and everyone that I ride with that I consider extraordinary climbers all climb out of the saddle. He's stationary also in the studio (no winds) yet conversely at altitude in thinner air he should be quicker through the air?? Yep...need to get him over there and pick a good day !!!

Another amazing exhibition from Mr. Feather... has there ever been a more appropriate name? Now we need to see him live cast the real thing.

Wahoo X is very complete with virtual routes (E-sport) and structured training plans. I was subscribed to SYSTM but was missing the virtual riding experience. The down side to Wahoo X and Zwift is in my opinion the virtual world your riding in, like a cartoon. That is why I choose Rouvy since your riding real routes with real footage, but with a VR layer over it so you can do virtual group rides, races etc. And the pricing of Rouvy is more friendly.

What a monster (in a good way) Andy Feather is. I can sprint that power for 30 second!!😳. Well done that man, awesome effort.

I climb out of the saddle and on the DROPS aka Pantani-style - that is basically akin to SPRINTING up mountains and is v. demanding to hold for long - but once your skeletal musculature develops - I think it is the MOST efficient climbing style compared to in the saddle ( aka Indurain-style ) and out of the saddle on the hoods ( aka Contador-style ) I think the latter is likely the worst style since it uses / emphasizes leg muscles that are not normally used ( as much) during in the saddle rides - the Pantani-style uses the SAME leg muscle group so you should come out ahead as a stronger in the saddle rider if you go there - also - as your head is low down in a sprint-style it is better aero than in the saddle - I would recommend EVERY young cyclist to ride Pantani-style if they want to be a GREAT climber - it takes years to perfect and a super strong core but once you have it - you will be gold level climber

Insane! I watched his gcn+ Everesting documentary yesterday and remember him saying his specialty is short efforts of a couple of minutes and here he is... 6W/kg+ for 35min 😅😅

Would be great to find out now how that time would compare to the real world climb especially with his climbing technique that doesn't suit long climbs
