Super Contra Arcade Cabinet MAME Gameplay w/ Hypermarquee 

I remember playing this arcade game when I was a kid. The only thing that creeped me out a great deal was the introduction in which one of the two protagonists appeared out of nowhere and it had an extreme close-up of their face and it was colored blue. It was the one with the Ivan Drago hairstyle for the record.

The programmers once said that they got inspiration for Contra from the Alien movies. In the later levels, some of the aliens do look like the ones from the film, particularly the face huggers. Coincidentally, Konami did make an arcade game based on Aliens in 1990.

This game is the sequel to the original Contra and part of the Contra series. The game stars Bill Rizer and Lance Bean as they are sent to thwart another alien invasion from the vicious Red Falcon. It was ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System under the shortened title of Super C in North America and as Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces in PAL region. Both the arcade version and the NES version have been re-released for various other platforms since their original releases. The NES port of Super C was also released on PlayChoice-10 arcade machine.
