This is insane man. I'm currently trying to ease my body into being able to do deeper & deeper dips so I can sit down between my dip bars, grab them & rise into the top position of the dip straight from a seated position. Maintaining L-Sit & all. So this is super motivational to let me know it's actually doable!!

Thanks Omni - I would not recommend doing this very frequently though (I almost never do this!). Instead focus on getting stronger with the basics and mobility drills first

@@Vahvafitness Oh for sure homie. I'm actually a pretty experienced calisthenic athlete already so don't worry about me trying to rush anything. Already learned to take things gradual haha. Thanks again for inspiring my man.

I will try something similar to this push up technique. Perhaps it helps with shoulder mobility

Warm up correctly and do the exercise correctly or you will be like me in the next day, my shoulders hurt, not A HUGE PAIN, but an annoying pain, that just happens when you move your shoulders very quickly

would be good to see how you progress towards the deep pushup for example as I'm sure my chest would break if attempting that version raw..;) maybe an idea for the platform in the future
@Vahvafitness
@Vahvafitness 8 лет назад
It's a complex movement - the upper body needs to be strong and mobile pretty much everywhere. Complete training program with tons of mobility will build that foundation.

This is way beyond the natural range of movement of the shoulder joint not to mention that it is under significant load....you are risking major injury.
@JariSatta

Risk to Benefit Ratio. (Why am I at the gym? Am I there to do an excellent workout, or am I there showcasing strength feats (?)) >>Contraindicated exercises are those that have a high potential for causing injury.
@Vahvafitness
@Vahvafitness 8 лет назад
There was no risk for ME, because I had gradually worked up to this point. This is advanced work, meant to show what is possible (inspiration)
@Vahvafitness
@Vahvafitness 8 лет назад
It's all individual. Many performers inspire others by doing amazing feats which may look dangerous, but in fact aren't thanks to their thorough preparation.

Vahva Fitness Yes, the body is very adaptive, it will become good at performing the exercises you throw at it. For example, kick boxers have the stamina to do that sort of sport very well, but put them on the BJJ mat and they roll themselves out of breath quickly, until they adapt to that.

I would never go that low on dips and push ups. It's not worth the risk of major shoulder injury. To each his own.
@jholmes45

Not sure why you pose at the end of some of your videos; your performance is much more impressive than your physique. Seems kinda weird, since that's not really the focus of your training anyhow, right?
@Vahvafitness
@Vahvafitness 8 лет назад
I like to be healthy, look good and perform well. I don't disregard the value of aesthetics and I don't think it's one or another - I like to have both. Some people prefer one over another and that's perfectly fine as well. I don't do much "bodybuilding", because I know for certain that a great natural physique is a result of a healthy diet, strength and structural balance (mobility/proportions).

Fair enough; that makes sense. I hope my original post didn't read like an attack of any kind. Now that I'm reading it again, I can see how you might get that impression. I apologize if I came across that way. I think what you do is awesome and I enjoy the videos. Thanks for posting.

I was hoping there'd actually be some educational content here - not just blatant showing off.

There are lots of different content on this channel, if you see some of the new videos they are primarily educational. Some videos are demonstrations like this one and it's important to see what is "possible"!
