Damn, this took quite some time to build.. As always, I would GREATLY appreciate if you would leave a LIKE 👍and a COMMENT 💬, small things that really does help - Thank you! Remember that there is a Q&A in the description for the most common questions ❔ And if you just can't get enough of Coniferia, there's teasers of future episodes and hundreds of additional screenshots over at my Patreon 📸📸📸 www.patreon.com/infrastructurist As always, thank you so much for the support - I hope you have a fantastic Sunday! Much Love, Infra 🥰
Can't go wrong with public transport, hope to see cablecars up the hill too, also love the name of the new city (it kinda foreshadows whats next to come in future episodes 😂)
@@Infrastructurist we have a cable car in Prague up a hill, its called Petřínská lanovka. it looks more like a tram thats on a steep angle. I think it would fit into the surroundings of the city.
@@sebastianhoppe2118 not gonna lie, a funicular in the new city would be very interesting, makes it unique because of it. Would be cool to see the funicular as a sort of viable transport option for the hillside suburbs that might be built soon haha.
I would recommend creating a transfer hub for your trams and buses... well, once more lines have been established :D Where I live, about 2/3 of tram lines (8 or 9 I think) meet on a wide street with multiple platforms right in from of the main train station.
Î love the detailing in this episode ! Maybe you can ban heavy traffic from entering the city as you have some pretty loong trucks driving in there haha. Maybe dedicate one road for going in on the ouskirt and one outlet that leads directly to the highway
Hi Ghassen - glad you like it! And good suggestion, there definitely needs to be a continued emphasis on slowly but surely improving the traffic situation in Port Douglas!
Hahah, yeah it's quite insane Hanne. We will need to spend some serious time fixing up the traffic. I will say though that some of the changes we make towards the end of this episode did help the situation a bit 😊 And yeah, familiar with the tea addicted Biffa 😉
Very nice! A cool addition would be a train station next to Danton on the river bank. People could also cross the river from Washington Park on a foot bridge for more ridership.
Nice work, as you said, small detailings on that railway will make wonders, specially at the parts where it divides public space with pedestrians. Another good thing that could help a lot would be limiting the Heavy Traffic in Downtown. On cinematics you can see at least 3 Fedex Semi-Trucks on the same screen frame zoomed in. Keep up the great work! I'm loving it.
30:40 You can click the little lock icon, which locks the settings for both directions of the road. Nevertheless, great episode of course, really enjoying this series!
As these are bi-directional trams, you should add the reversing tram AI mod and get some reversible tracks from Clus - this eliminates the need for loops to turn your trams around and is how most modern LRT systems work these days. Also you can have a go at making an inter-urban line from downtown Port Douglas into the northern part of the island where there could be a park or resort destination. Love the level of detail in this series~
Hi Jason - thanks a lot, glad you love it! And great proposal - I didn't think of that at all to be honest. I will need to try and work with the reversal setup 👍😇 And for the inter-urban line, I am generally thinking we will go ham with the tram network here - also lines that stretch out of the inner-city areas like you suggest!
When I saw the traffic on the highway, the avenue, and the minor through streets, I thought, _Oh, my, God. This traffic is _*_so_*_ bad, he might need to send the city to Biffa to fix._ Well now for the name for the trolley! Right now you just have "L1" but here in the States a surface transit line is often named for the street it's running on. So if the avenue is named "New Tealand Street", for example, then the tramline can be named "L1 New Tealand". (A Biffa reference in there if you didn't catch it. 😉😁)
That queue of people waiting for weeks to enter the city is so funny. You can also imagine that people are moving away from Pine Harbour because they want some of that capital city vibe. Really nice work as usual. :) Short question. You mentioned in a previous episode that you are living in Europe. Can I ask which country?
Haha, the traffic is absolutely terrible. Some of the worst I have ever seen in this game. We need to fix that moving forward - hopefully the changes made to the downtown road layout/intersection rules towards the end of this episode will help a bit ☺ And ofc you can ask - I live in Denmark ☺
The Class 710 trains are really nice - they are used on London commuter services on the Overground network, so might not be ideal for an intercity service, but they look really nice on the map! The tram network looks really good!
Thanks a lot Toscana Trains, and an interesting piece of info! I must admit (likely obvious by now) that i don't know a lot about trains - but I've always found it fascinating how much "train-guys-and-gals" know about trains. Do you have a suggestion for a specific train asset you feel would be a better fit for this line? always open to suggestions! 😊
@@Infrastructurist There is a really nice OBB Eurocity 8-car train (DB BR 120) (it isn't an EMU but it has locomotives pushing/pulling a train of coaches) that might go well with the stations and the line given that quite a lot of intercity services are still run with these older trains in Central Europe certainly! It's completely up to you though, and I also think the 442 would also be a great fit 🙂
Hi! Thank you so much for the content! This looks just amazing! I would really like to see more because you know how to use the game to make it gorgeous) Here are just some suggestions, if I may. 1) Hide TM:PE Unconnected Tracks - this mod helps to remove those wonky turnarounds at the tram tracks that in the depo and at the final stop not to waste steel from the government). 2) A beautiful beach line would look incredible and be a tourist attraction for the whole map. If you can make it separate from the main road right next to it in front of the sea, oh that would be awesome. 3) As a modern city Port Douglas can make the whole central boulevard only walkable with incredible park, tons of restaurants and... 4) A tram line in the middle, just imagine how awesome and urban it would be (this stretch will help to make lines that connect the L1 and the beach one). 5) As a major already made, there should be no crossing of tram track in front of the government building. If the idea of making a lin through the park suits then the city can build a small T-shaped tram hub right in front of the government building, so that there are 3 stops, 1 for each direction before the intersection. As there pedestrians will have the right to walk, changes from tram to tram would be so easy. Once again, thank you for your content, looking forward to new episodes!
Hi Михаил Ларин - thanks a lot for an awesome comment!! And thank you for the great suggestions, lot's of thing I can get inspired by. I have just added the TMPE extension mod you mentioned, great find - thanks a lot! 😊👍
@@Infrastructurist great! Also remembered now that I saw the train was going near Danton village, maybe there is a chance to add a stop there an a connection to the village, so that the village didn't grow around the station but then it appeared to have. In this case people from the Downtown of Pine can also access it via train
Suggestion: since there are two rail bridges going out of Port Douglas, maybe have one of them be used for the normal regional and intercity trains, and the other for high speed rail?
The stations looks really great but i gotta mention, that there was a very high chance of the stops having auto detailing... but them being options when using adaptive networks. I've had a similiar problem in my city :D
Hi Greendude96 - thanks a lot! I actually did check with AN, and had an option for disabling/enabling trams stop sign - so I might have an issue or that particular prop isnt correctly subscribed. Thanks again 😊
I love how you complain or pick at little things that aren't quite right or working 100% properly all the while you've just accomplished in a couple of hours something that likely takes most a week... Fantastic video, definitely enjoyed the watch.
Hi Hoggle! I often make mistakes and even more often forget how to achieve x with y mod, leading me down weird paths 😂😂😂 And thank you for the compliment, glad you enjoyed it!!
Another great episode! As the city comes together I’d love to see where parks are going to come in, and also how the beach will be. Could part of the mountainside facing the city be turned into a nature reserve with tourist access? to help with traffic, you could maybe include bike lanes in certain portions of the city that can handle it so that people can more easily move without vehicles, maybe along the beach even? I think heavy industry traffic should also be banned in the downtown core, where the network is too small to support the truck sizes. I’m loving the city progression so far, please keep up the great work! :)
Hey man! Glad you cleared the traffic because seeing the city having this natural traffic flow looks brilliant, especially including the trams. I love (!) the marking tool plattforms, they look so chic. I‘m excited to see the next steps, including the transition into low density! Keep up the excellent work and get better soon!
Hi Duszh, thanks a lot my man! It will be interesting to see how traffic will progress given the addition of the new train line between Pine Harbour and Port Douglas, the addition of this tram line, and the modifications we did to the central intersections near the Coniferia Regional Capitol building towards the end of this episode. My guesses are: it's gone from absolutely terrible to really terrible - an improvement, but not nearly enough hahaha 😂 So we will likely need to continue to make tweaks and modifications to get some flow into Port Douglas traffic. with that said - I don't mind lots of traffic and a few ques - give's a real "big city" vibe. I just don't want the gridlocks!
@@Infrastructurist completely understandable! Being busy can look extremely nice if a city as well planned. What are your thoughts on cargo transport? All goods seem to be “imported” by cat from the Pine Harbour, which effects the highway and getting into the city. I’m not sure whether a cargo port would fit into that area based on size, maybe even strategically placed to the end of this peninsula to generate traffic going the separate direction than coming from the highway.
You can remove crosswalks using the Node Controller mod, I use the same roads you tried to remove crosswalks from using TM:PE and it works that way, saves you having to use asphalt to cover them
You should add tram priority traffic lights (with TMPE timed traffic lights) that let trams go on every other cycle so they don't get stuck in traffic. There is a great video from YUMBLE called Effective Tram Intersections in Cities Skylines (I'm not giving a link because RU-vid doesn't like it and deletes my comment) if you want to learn how to do it.
Hi Adam - thanks a lot of the suggestion - I did setup a timed traffic light at the point where the avenue has a sharp turn, just before entering downtown. You are right, timed lights are a necessity for an effective tram traffic flow 😊👍
In front of the capitol you should make the two streets surrounding the park, pedestrian, there is no need for such a high capacity road in that corridor of the city, and would eliminate the amount of intersections on that main street, reducing traffic. Think it could be redeveloped in to an awesome place for both park area, but maybe also a street market and good for walkability. Det kunne være en slags strøget :) You could also extend the park out to the water making an awesome pier.
I agree with making it more pedestrian friendly, but i think it wouldn't make sense to have those streets pedestrians as there's already a big park where they can walk through safely. But he should make the cars crossing that street impossible by adding grass like he did on the other two nodes
Very good work, but a couple of comments on the tram: the tunnel under the road is at a dangerously high grade that the trams themselves wouldn't be able to make. Also, that end of the tram route doesn't have a turnaround loop, so some riders have to go all the way back to the depot before the tram gets to their stop.
Please make a collection on workshop of your mods, would love to attempt to build a copy of your city myself! You can put it on Patreon! Your Coniferia looks amazing! Maybe add a helicopter path in between the two cities, would liven up the skies! :D Very liking the progress!
amazing video, would suggest removing the parking from the right turn pass in front of the town hall, its causing a bit of blockage, here in Melbourne we use hook turns to allow trams to get right of way on the roads. I doubt there are any mods out there to allow that type of turns as it's a pretty unique work around to tram centric traffic.
Hi /MMCI1525 - good suggestion, that little road is annoying us all a bit I think. And interesting with the hook turns - we will need to ensure through different means that the tram traffic is prioritized over car traffic 😊
@@Infrastructurist here in Melbourne, hook turns (as we drive on the left here), are only in the CBD, and they prioritise forward traffic at traffic light intersections. As if you want to turn right & cross the intersection, instead of blocking the right lane & having fwd traffic slow down to pass on the left, you queue in a designated lane on the left. So once the light sequence has changed those turning right have a clear intersection to do so, and the go before the cross section can as they’re queued in front. It’s a bit of a odd way, but it allows priority to things moving straight like trams or traffic. Only really works in small tight intersections. If you google hook turns Melbourne you’ll see a bunch of videos about them.
Looking at those big roads in front of the Capitol building, the ones surrounding that beautiful park... In my opinion that is a prime location for a pedestrian only area. It would really add to the fabric of the downtown and get rid of the heavy traffic in such a beautiful location. Traffic could be diverted on other roads. They actually did that in the city I was born in (Iasi, Romania). Around 10 years ago the authorities completely banned all private traffic to enter the street going in front of the city hall and other historic buildings, and now that area has become one of my favorites to just hang out in. So quiet and relaxing and just beautiful. I really think this would make your city very special as well. Thoughts?
Hi IndependenStrudel - that is a very interesting suggestion indeed. Hmm, let's see if we can get some pedestrian only areas into Port Douglas - maybe where you suggest or somewhere else - given the density of the city, there would be incentives to create pedestrian only areas, full of shops, cafes and the likes!
@@Infrastructurist Would love to see you do something like that. And yes, the fact that it's a much denser city, you can really boost economic activity with that and ... being a walkable city nerd myself ... it makes for a better city full stop.
amazing build you should make use of mods like no big trucks to stop those heavy trucks from running routes a small delivery van would do, I also suggest you use improved public transport to have more control over transit lines it will help in a way to counter traffic
just came across this channel. Nice builds. @2:23 i noticed that the highway-ramp to the down right seems to be a one way in the wrong direction, looking at the lane arrows.
I think you should stop all traffic to cross the road next to the capital building (you already did for 2/3 nodes). Cars can just take another route in my opinion. You would have so many pedestrians in real live visiting the building that this would make it was safer for pedestrians. You could keep the pedestrian crossing and light but cars couldn't cross.
Hi Sebastian! We might have to consider a metro down the line if Port Douglas really blows up! 😊👍 And thank you for more than 5 years subscription, wow!
With the amount of time and effort it must take to build the city and edit the videos, the pace at which you're putting videos out is incredible! Do you have any other mod tutorials besides the one for find it?
Hi Andrei - you are absolutely right. I actually tried that off-camera for this episode, unfortunately all the fences where just too tall for my needs 😂😇
The Traffic Problems are from the Update... in my game nothing moving also... most of the Traffic are Tourists, for me it was playable again after enable the old town restriction... The outside trucks also have a major increase... dont know what the devs thought... its pretty bad
Hi drip trollface! I am always up for suggestions - which asset/train do you have in mind? If you just post the name of the train from the workshop, I will take a look! 😊😊👍
I agree with you. A line between two cities would probably be served with some kind of intercity train (not the metro service type train currently in use). Also, I'm pretty sure the train in the video uses third rail as a power source, not diesel. The flirt (the train on the other train line) has an engine compartment so that's okay but I don't see one on the new train.
Nice work, really. I dont know if services are done yet (garbage ; )) but wait after traffic fixes because services adds tons of vehicles. Would be nice to see different recycle bin colors as well. Just an idea. As a soccer fan, and worldcup in 2 weeks - any plans for building a stadium? Cheers 🎉
Thanks a lot Yotam - garbage not yet done for Port Douglas! We will need a stadium or two in the region, that's for sure. I thin the sport will be dictated by what sport the nicest stadium I can find on the workshop supports 😊😇
Hi buddy absolutely loving this series made me get back into cities skylines need a pc upgrade to be honest Just a quick question what map are you playing on in this or is it custom
Might just be my phone qaulity, but the graphic qaulity of the game is so low it looks like google earth. Which in my opionion makes it look even more realisitic. I can really see this being a true city.
Hi La resistance - the line we create in this episode is between Port Douglas and Pine Harbour. Do you mean extending that line to also reach Tagfield?
When next update comes will ur mods stop working? My mods always brakes and my city dont work anymore. How do u avoid that? Ur mods are working but how
Hi Eduardo - I don't have a mod/asset collection in the steam workshop to make public unfortunately. I am currently working on figuring something out with the LoadOrderTool, to provide a list of assets 😊
Really enjoy your video and hopefully you would recover soon❤. To be honest deleting the vehicles definitely be the most efficient way to handle with the traffic jam, which I always have to do😂
