Hey guys, modelling weekly here! This week I'll be tackling quite an old little model, so I hope you enjoy the video!
Disclaimer: the term 'dremel' used in reference to the DSPIAE micro grinding tool was used in a colloquial manner, without any intention of brand confusion. the tool is indeed (as stated) made by DSPIAE, and can be found in most major modelling retailers. thanks for your understanding!
Thanks for watching the video! If there is anything you want to know, or anything you want me to know feel free to ask!

I really hope you enjoy this build guys! More exciting content on the way :) On the topic of the micro grinder tool I used in the video: a lot of you have been asking about it, and where to find it, so feel free to message and I can send you a link. Also, I haven't received any confusion about this as of yet, however it is indeed made by DSPIAE and not Dremel as stated in the video, despite me using the term colloquially - just a little disclaimer there!

Hi. You have done a spectacular job on this model. These Airfix Vintage Classic kits are not that bad considering their age. Yes they do take quite a bit of work but the results can be great. I build military vehicle kits and like your model there is some serious scratchbuilding to be done. Like your model they do spend some time on the bench. I recently built the Sherman and it 'lived' on my bench for about four weeks. I scatchbuilt an engine for it and opened it up so it could be seen. I won,t go into to much detail because this would be a long posting. Suffice to say if you put in the time and add a bit of extra work you can end up with a great model for your collection , and you get to win some trophies which is a bonus. A very good video and very entertaining , well done. Thankyou.
@ModellingWeekly
@ModellingWeekly Месяц назад
@@BrianSanders-tn7pi thanks so much, and you're very right! It's definitely one of (if not the most) rewarding type of model that you can build, with the added bonus that it'll be completely unique, as no one will have made the exact same scratch building modifications as you. That's a fantastic effort. Did you ever consider just sanding down the pontoons to a reasonable height? I might get this kit and was thinking how I would tackle that as I do not like rescribing.
@ModellingWeekly
@ModellingWeekly Месяц назад
That is definitely an option! I mainly decided to go down the re-scribing route as due to their size, the amount of rivets on each line wasn't really enough, and recessed rivets also receive a wash much better than raised ones do - but it's perfectly fine to leave them raised!
@psychodermix
@psychodermix Месяц назад
Thanks so much for the quick reply. And you're right, the gaps between rivets are way out of scale. I'm on the hunt for an old P-26 peashooter by Revell and i know it has raised panel lines etc. I can't even remember if it had rivets. I plan to not rescribe because it's way above my ability at the moment but I've seen people do sanding on raised panel lines so thanks for the info 👍
@ModellingWeekly
@ModellingWeekly Месяц назад
@@psychodermix no worries! Yeah, sanding on raised panel lines is definitely a viable option, sanding raised rivets is really the one you need to weigh up. Above all though, do whatever feels right to you, and what you'll enjoy!

Of course. That's what it's all about. I love your videos. Keep them coming. You're a real talent. What you did to this classic kit is amazing 👏

@@joshem16 as it's my own design, it's currently only available as a download for channel members, however this does unfortunately require you to own a 3d printer.
