I have been going to Middletown since the early 70s. I would meet my friends, "The Wolf " Real name , Rick, his brother Bob, and Cliff, and a few other characters. We had a great time . The amount of beer that was consumed was amazing. We have built good size walls of empty cans. They were good friends, not the typical friends you have today. I mean these guys would be next to you on your side if needed. It was great going to Middletown. I would drive to the track in my tan chevy van that I customized. The van had 3 sections to it. 1st one is the driver section. Did not do much this area. The second section, was the bar room. There was stained, knotty pine on the walls halfway from the ceiling down. All wood was coated with polyurethane 3 times. The wood was beautiful!. The bar I built was easily opened to get the spare tire out. This was '76, they did not have the spare tires under the van like they do now. I also had a tub under the bar where ice and beer was kept cold. That was the most liked section of my truck. The ceiling was redone with fiberglass ceiling tile that had a nice pattern that fit nicely and a marble top bar with kerosene lamps that where real and they worked. I would light them when I was in a parking lot or park when it was dark out. Everyone just about would stand and look at the interior. The people who came to look at the inside of my van would be memorized. The amount of positive comments were fantastic. Now between the driver compartment and the bar room, and between the bar room and the 3rd section { the bedroom} there were the 4 dividers made with stained spindles and this vinyl tuck halfway from the middle down. The 3rd section was the bedroom. I made this part which I was proud of to come up with this idea. I made 2 benches that you can sit on. There were one on each side. There was a part I made that would slide in between the benches. This made the bed possible. When I slide it out, I then can use it as a table. I had a part that was mounted in the floor and had a 5" inch diameter pipe that would fit into the floor part. Or like when I went racing motocross on Sunday, I would leave the middle piece out and haul my bike in it. The Wolf and Cliff followed me to my Motocross track after the car races at Middletown, where the were like my pit crew. These where the "Good Old Days" and I miss the days and the friends I mentioned. Wolf and Cliff have passed a few years ago. Middletown raceway I read was sold. And I miss my dear friends "Wolf", and Cliff. I am going to have a beer to salute them, God Bless you Wolf and Cliff, and thanks for the things you did for me, and your friendship.
Absolutely...these tracks like OCFS gotta experiment different track surfaces...they don't understand that they would get more people out to the track if they can put down a surface that don't get the audience filthy....and there is such a surface...the Lucas Oil super late modes and the summer national super late model go to different tracks...and some tracks that are experimenting on new surfaces is working and their shows are packed....those track conditions at OCFS are horrific no wonder nobody goes to the races anymore

I got dust in my eyes watching from my computer, HORRIBLE conditions for the FANS. Flemington wasn't That BAD back run the days . Come on OCFS......Was going to make a few visits this year but if those conditions are normal ,Im gonna think twice. Congratulations Matt
I agree with you...I have to do some research but I watched a super late model race somewhere and the driver who won commented on how good the track was and there was no dust for the drivers and no dust for the crowd....it was a new surface they were experimenting and it was awesome racing and no dust....
Travis Rutz had his career ended on Terre Haute when the track was like this. The sport is dangerous enough as is. Red flag and track rework or call the race in my opinion. Those are the only options. Not worth a life or long term health consequences.

I don't go to orange county weekly but from what I heard and seen there. Never seen this bad conditions. And another newyork track had some dust problems. Lucky they got the race in with as much water newyork got a couple days before
That track will never smarten up and fix the issue. Im sure the surrounding area just “loves” when its race night.. my god. It prolly gonna take someone getting seriously injured or die to make a change.
I'm not a big block Watcher as much since it was the only thing on dirtvision last night I watched some of it but had to turn it off because it just got boring barely seeing the cars with that much dust on that track
Does anyone know how Mike Kinney has been doing in these Mods.? Hoping He comes back to the UMP Mods next season. Sure do miss watching him run up front at Raceway 7. Oh. He's #20 by the way. Probably blue & yellow car. Maybe not

Wow, never saw a promoter put their drivers through that dust bowl. Sand and rock dust damages lungs, i sure hope these drivers a smart enough to use a breathing filter!
Turned it off after 15 laps-couldn't see the race. I'm starting to get nervous. I love DIRTVision but on multiple occasions last week watching the Hell Tour the announcer was reporting on a battle for position but the camera shot was of something totally different. Reminded me of being at my buddy's house while he's watching that $hitshow SHAMCAR. I hope DIRTVision didn't hire some of those Faux Sports SHAMCAR producers.
Sad that OCFS seems to always have shit track conditions like this last eastern states 200 they way over loaded with calcium and it was a single lane racetrack it was straight up boring
Actually it's been a single lane P.O.S. since the late 80's. Dummies keep going back there forced by sponsors that don't give a crap what the driver or team says, they own the car so they decide your fate. What a life of Hell that must be
It's just the Fairgrounds tracks. They're garbage and have been for awhile. The problem is Dummies keep lining up to hand over their hard earned money. Why would the track do anything to better itself when you have stupid people that don't know shit about racing lining up like cattle.
New York borders Lake Erie. Not to mention there's hundreds of smaller lakes scattered throughout the state. Don't forget the Atlantic Ocean touches New York as well. 😂🤣 Track Promoters are getting worse and worse in the NorthEast and charging a fortune for their failure.
@@forwarddrive4066 wouldn't think so put some water down make it more enjoyable for the fans and drivers. Charging more paying out less and doing less to make for good races sad. I'm glad I'm from the Midwest with decent promoters I guess
